Technically, since I'm in the UK, every team is an out-of-town team for me. I know a lot about Forsberg, since he used to be an Avs player, but I do keep an eye on who else is about there.

Good for them. I think we'll see a lot more teams around the .500 mark and not too many streaking off into the distance of 100+ points seasons.
Alright, so I go away for a weekend and what do my beloved Toronto Maple Leafs do? They get demolished 8-0 by Ottawa. You're breakin' my heart! I still support them to the death though. Well, except for people like Berg and Belak. They can just go to...well anywhere but Toronto. But, its only the start of the season, they'll come back.
I used to be with it. Then they changed what it was.
Now what I'm with isn't it and what's it seems weird and scary to me.
It'll happen to you!

I gave my brother hell over that. He hates me :D
Leafs fans from all over the world are crying after a lovely 8-0 thrashing.
Lets Blame Lindros =) or Domi

Well, when my team (rarely) lets 8 goals in, I usually blame the man (or men) between the pipes. That would be 'steady' Eddie Belfour, as he let the first 5 in on 15 shots.

Especially when you consider that both Sandis Ozolinsh and Sergei Fedorov are out of the line up.
I went to the Ducks vs. Nashville game. Karyia's homecoming wasn't exactly a warm one, with everyone booing the fuck out of him everytime he touched the puck. after being scored on in about the first 2 minutes, the ducks put in 4 unanswered goals and increased their home winning streak to 6.
It'll be a good matchup tonight when colorado comes to the pond.
I'm going to the Flames/Bluejackets game tonight... I'm getting kind of nervous...
It maybe just colombus but I dunno... I have a bad feeling.
:-\
Go Flames Go!!

My mistake, it appears the avs are hosting tonight's matchup.

I think all of those are Western.
The Ducks and stars are for sure.
Ah, the ducks were cut down by the avs. Good game by lupol, who now has 2 shorthanded goals on the season

Yeah, they're all Western. CBJ is in the central

The Dallas Stars, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Anaheim Mighty Ducks are all in the Western Conference.
Sorry for the double-post, but I didn't realize that I was beaten to the punch. By the way, did you know that only 20% of the teams in the NHL are in Canada? Although that's probably the highest percentage of Canadian teams in American sports, it sounds awfully low for Canada's national pastime.

I was aware of this, but there is talk of possible relocations for a few of the smaller market teams to relocate to Canada (possibly Winnipeg again)

Yeah, I say send the Coyotes back and call them the Jets again. I mean Pheonix isn't really one of the larger markets like a NY, Toronto, Philly, Detroit...etc. Still, chances are they are still making a larger profit in Phoenix than they would've in Winnipeg.
I didn't like seeing the Quebec Nordiques go, but they became the Avalanche and since moving has been a great hockey town and contender. In the end it turned out pretty good so I'm okay with it. I guess I just don't like seeing hockey teams playing in areas that naturally cannot get a snowfall. So I really wouldn't be opposed to getting rid of teams like Florida, and Tampa. If Atlanta makes money and has a decent fan base I wouldn't mind seeing them stay as they did have an NHL team before, the Flames were there before they moved to Calgary (Yeah an American team moving to Canada, who'da thunk eh?).
Other teams that I wouldn't mind seeing moved or gone are Nashville and Columbus. Nothing against those teams in particular except for the fact that I think there are too many NHL teams as it is, and the talent is somewhat watered down. BUT, these new rules seem to put a greater emphasis on offense so perhaps we will see more flourishing of talent instead of shortened careers.
Wow, konowalchuk picks up another shorthand goal in Colorado's defeat.

On thing is certain: More teams would make it either a little simpler or a lot more complicated. There are 30 current NHL teams, so if two more were added the league would need to be restructured, like the NFL did. This might simplify the playoffs (unless they insist on keeping the wild-card), but it will certainly upset rivalries and it might not make sense geographically (just like how the Indianapolis Colts are in the AFC South). Seeing as how geography is the critical component in determining the conferences and divisions in the NHL, this is a bad idea.
Then again, the current discussion here is relocation, but that could be just as chaotic for the arrangement if the league. Just look at Major League Baseball; Bud Selig moved the Milwaukee Brewers from the AL West to the NL Central, throwing both divisions out of whack. Moving Phoenix to Winnepeg or Tampa to Quebec would do the same thing.
Another go for Winnipeg. Do they deserve another team ? Come on sports fans it is Winnipeg we are talking about. Maybe they could start a new franchise there.
Any ideas on a good name. I got my money on Winnipeg Mosquitos

He's been one of the better defensive players in the league, even though his +/- record might not show that, since he played with that horrid Capitals team of a few seasons ago. He'll do everything you ask of him, and then some. He'll definitely surprise you with his offensive abilities. He's a two-way player, but it seems his defense is valued more than his offense.
Even in a team like the Avs, which arguably has it's share of stars, he continues to shine. He's a great boon to our team and long may he continue to be.
Ha!
Flames beat the Canucks 1-0!
Calgary and Vancouver = best rivalry in the NHL.
Game Highlights:
- Auld has a bad give away behind then net which allows Calgary to Score.
- Iginla man handles all of the Canucks in the vancouver zone while shorthanded by two men and it almost leads to a shorthanded goal for the flames
- Warrner owns Bertuzzi with a big check
- Pheanuf trips after throwing the gloves off while challanging Ruutu to a fight
- Auld and Kippersoff's steller tending
- The fact that the flames completly worked the canucks and if it weren't for Auld owning in net the score could have been alot more lobsided.

I missed the goal. I wasn't home until about halfway through the second period. : (

Iginla should have been penalized on the play. If you look at the replay he has his hand closed on the puck when he spins. But he ended up hitting the post anyway, so meh.
- Warrner owns Bertuzzi with a big check
Missed that one : \
- Pheanuf trips after throwing the gloves off while challanging Ruutu to a fight
Now that was fun to watch.

Quite stellar indeed.

I was surprised at how well Calgary kept us out of the offensive zone. I think we actually managed to get set up once or twice throughout the whole game. It reminded me of playing Minnesota when their trap was pretty much done to perfection.
It was an ugly game for us, but Calgary deserved the win for their awesome defence.

I'd say the third best. The best is the Canadiens / Maple Leafs, the second is the Avalanche / Red Wings.
Ducks have an incredible comeback only to fall in the shootout at the hands of minnesota.
Getzalf, returning from an injury had a stellar night, putting away two goals. Selanne was hungry the whole game putting up 6 quality chances and scoring in the shootout. But, now the ducks have 5 games off and Fedorov is expected to return. I'm amazed the ducks are doing as well as they are with so many injuries.
Tough guy fedoruk is out with an abdominal strain
Corey Perry is out with a bad concussion
Sandis Ozolinsh is having problems with his ribs
and star forward fedorov has been sidelined with a flu problem, the a groin problem.

Don't forget about Senators/Leafs. Those are pretty good too (ESPECIALLY when the Leafs get killed...ohhhh I'm so mean).
