The really worrying team is Pittsburgh though. Mario has put away 14 points in five game (almost 3 points a game, which is frankly awesome) Even if he comes down to around 2 ppg, it'll be some mammoth numbers this year for him.,

Anahiem is looking solid this year. They have two excellent rookies in Getzlaf and Perry. And now that Selanne has returned to the team where he performed best, I'm sure he'll prove that last season was a fluke. Not to mention speedy fedorov and Niedermier adding experience to the team.

I really like the combination of youth and veterans on the team.

I posted this same thing in the fantasy hockey thread, on accident.

What, you mean he actually played for the Avalanche during his time there?

I hope the Penguins do well. They were my favourite team before I could even talk, and its nice to see that they might have a chance this year. I'm still a little frustrated that they got rid of Martin Straka. Although he had been playing there for well over a decade.

I'll be watching the most anticipated rookie since the Great One tonight. Penguins and Devils is the only game being shown in the UK, but I'm not complaining.

I might watch Phoenix and Vancouver after, but it all depends on how much tape I've got to record stuff.

I'm currently watching the Leafs vs Senators game and so far the Leafs lead 1-0. I don't want to see the Sens win with their offseason additions of Dominic Hasek and Dany heatley. Go Leafs Go! And I haven't posted here in a long time.

That was a fucking awesome game. Shootouts can suck my balls though. As far as I'm concerned, the game was a tie. And how about Eric Lindros? God damn, did he have a good game.

I used to be with it. Then they changed what it was.

Now what I'm with isn't it and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

It'll happen to you!

Lupol picked up a short handed goal and a regular one in tonight's 5-3 win over Chicago in Chicago. Thank heavens I drafted him on my team. Selanne also picked up a goal on the power play.

He's in the last chance saloon. Maybe Pat Quinn will get the best out of him for a season or two, but I wouldn't think further than that.

Colorado lost 4-3 to Edmonton, but it was a good game, from the highlights I've seen.

Lindros played well, but Sens deserved to win. Remember, they scored first (the refs just didn't see it).

Can't watch the highlights for another 3 1/2 hours, because they frown upon things like that at work (even during lunch)

Plus I've got no sound here.

WHAT ? Are you serious ? Damn is Ron Mclean still working there ? Who replaced Cherry ? I love him and his ever so controversial views.

I read in the Hockey News that Don Cherry had been released by Hockey Night in Canada. I think he should stay, even if he doesn't say anything. Those suits of his are awesome. Almost as outrageous as Roger Nielsen's tie collection.

I must say... Colombus has a good goalie.

The Flames had so many good chances and he stopped quite a bit.

At 10/7/05 10:05 PM, -Canas- wrote: The Penguins.... well, got one point. I mean, it was an amazing comeback to take Carolina into overtime... but they were just outmatched. Carolina had a bunch of no-namers in the shootout, but in the end Ziggy Palffy missed, Lemieux looked lazy, and Crosby shot it right at the goalie. 3-2 Carolina.

That was such a great game (way better than the Calgary one). I wouldn't say the whole Hurricane team outmatched the Penguins. Carolina won because of Cam Ward. Penguins were a little crappy in the shootouts, but it really comes down to luck at that point.

They'll find their groove again, don't worry. Having a perfect preseason doesn't say much, especially when most of the teams are trying out different strategies and playing rookies that end up not making the team.

These real early games could be some of the most important games of the entire season.

What are you talking about? Every game is important, whether it's at the beginning or end of the season.

Looks like Roberto Luongo likes the new smaller pads. They enable him to move about more and make him even more acrobatic. He's going to make some highlight reel saves this year.

The Avs go for their first win tonight, facing off against Dallas. It'll be a tough one, I know that.

Calgary and Detroit tommorow... This will be the flames first real test.

Agianst Minnesota they were asleep and colomubs got owned (if it were'nt for there kick ass goalie the score would have been MUCH higher so many good scoring chances) but detroit... now there good.

I predict it will be close... Both teams will bring there A game and play really tough.

Islanders lost their first game 4-6, but won their home opener 2-3. DiPietro made 42 saves :D But it wouldve been 2-4 if Parrish didnt interfere with the goalie and Sopels shot had to get waved off.

I'm still expecting big things from Mike York. He's in my fantasy team and I don't plan on letting him go anytime soon.

That team hasn't gelled yet. They'll come good towards the end of the year.

Flames should have today covered. Detroit only got worse from last year.

Detroit only got worse, since they had less payroll to deal with. However, I still think they can hold their own.
