Seems like a good deal for both ends. The hawks improve their terrible defensive game with a good two way player that excels at face offs and the Yotes improve their laughable offense with a speedy winger that's got good hands and a decent potential.

We'll be back in the playoffs this year, but I'm not convinced that we'll be President's trophy winners. Mind you, I never make soild predictions until I see how the new team plays come the first month or two of the regular season.

Improbable, but theorhetically possible

ustin Blackshear was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder in the stabbing deaths of two former co-workers at Cheli's Chili Bar, a restaurant owned by Detroit Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios.

The 18-year-old Blackshear, who had been fired twice from his job as a busboy, previously had confessed to killing chef Mark Barnard and restaurant manager Megan Soroka on January 2.

A jury at Wayne County Circuit Court needed approximately three hours to return a guilty verdict after hearing evidence that included the confession, more than $7,000 stolen from the restaurant and DNA samples taken from Blackshear's jeans and an envelope in his apartment.

Blackshear will be sentenced to life without parole on September 7.

Despite confessing his crimes to police, Blackshear proclaimed his innocence to the mother of his pregnant girlfriend, Nicole Haley-Aquil, during a phone conversation from the Wayne County Jail shortly after his arrest.

"I don't have the heart to kill nobody knowing I have a kid on the way," Blackshear said during the call, which was recorded and played for the jury during the trial.

In a letter he wrote to his girlfriend in June, Blackshear disclosed the reason for admitting his guilt.

"The only reason I told them I did it is because they told me the state could take our baby," he said in the letter, which was read in court by Haley-Aquil.

That place is kind of a shithole anyway, and ironically it's a big bar that's attached to a church or a cathedral that's pretty old.

But hey, what do you expect to happen? It's fucking Detroit, stabbings and deaths are pretty common.

They're really preoccupied with FFB, that's what gives them all their traffic in terms of fantasy sports, thus why they have College Football Pick 'Em, Pro Football Pick 'Em, Salary Cap Football, Survival Football, Survival College Football, and then H2H & Points leagues for Pro FFB.

Actually, they are one of at least three, of course, the other 2 are inactive. That would be the Quebec Nordiques and the Winnepeg Jets. Also, the modern Ottawa Senators (since they were reborn in '92) also have not hoisted the Cup yet.

Now we just need to bring a Cup to Western New York!

and in that league, I've got a pending trade of Andy McDonald for Zach Parise, which I did mainly to shore up my LW side and to dump one of my 5 centers, as I'm hoping for another decently strong year from Cammalleri and Langkow, a bounce-back year from Koivu, and a breakout year for Getzlaf. I have Holmqvist because I got him in the 14th round after Budaj was taken in the 13th. He's insurance for when (not if) Hasek dies again like he does every year.

Hopefully I don't get the second-to-last pick in the NG draft like I did in the previous two drafts. ;]

So, apparently, according to WKBW.com (I really don't feel like getting the link now, im sorry) but the Sabres will be playing the "Ice Bowl" at the Buffalo Bill's Ralph Wilson Stadium. It's set for January 1st at 1:00 PM on NBC. It's vs. Pittsburgh. YAY!

I am a HUGE flames fan, born from Calgary, all of that stuff, and I was SO pissed off that that ONE goal didn't count (the one in 2004), nor it was reviewed. Call me a poor sport, I tell you, it was one of the biggest mistakes of their life to call off that goal.

buddhist, you should've traded Daymond over andy mac, since hanging on to andy ensures you have the ducks no. 1 center regardless of if selanne returns.

That's what I'm doing.

Also, seems like the avs are going to have a pretty strong team this year. So far undefeated in the pre-season. It also seems that Stastny has grown some since last season.
