Awww...do some more scouting and change your team around a bit more. There's still some good rookies out there.

You're kidding, right? The new rules are probably the best thing that has happened to the game in a long time. I love all the high-scoring games. It makes the game so much more interesting. Shootouts are pretty cool too.

What is there NOT to like about the new rules?

The gayest of all these rules would be the crackdown obstruction... Like WTF. You can't even hit opposing players infront of there net which is so fucking stupid.

Especially when my favorite team is a clutch and grab team.

GAY.

Oh, you're SO right. I mean, playing real hockey is just TOO much to ask for. We absolutely NEED the fighting and tripping. Hockey is all about hitting and hurting the opposition, right?

I understand it causes more penalties, but once players get used to the new rules, the game will flow better and won't be as cheap.

I like Calgary too, but if they can't play by the new rules, then too bad.

No but it's gay watching players just slide into the the slot and wait there for the puck, get it and score... I don't mind the other rules but that one really pisses me off.

Ya I'm gonna have to agree with pope here. Although most of the rules are good, there are some that just get on my nerves when I see them called. It almost at times seems like the want to take the physicality out of the game. I dunno about you guys, but I like gritty, tough, physical hockey, I grew up with it.

Way out there? hah, they're just hurting goalies who have an extra skill in their arsenal. If you're a shitty goalie who can't handle the puck, then don't travel into the corners, but don't punish those netminders who excell with the puck.

Don't get me wrong, I like the physical aspects of the game. I just don't like it when it slows the game down. Fights: Great for boosting your team's morale early on. The NHL proposes a crackdown on fights late into the game. Neutral-Ice obstruction: Awful. It's great if you want to run a choking offence and keep the games to 1-0 and 2-1. I don't know about you, but I'd prefer the longer passes, creating 2 on 1s and therefore higher scoring games than the brawls at centre ice which NJ in particular operated with their neutral-zone trap.

That's just a few of the rules broken down, but I think it's also time for acrobatic 'Hasek-esque' goaltending. Making the pads smaller was genius. Now we can really see who's a good goalie, because they can move into the puck's path, rather than getting lucky and defelecting an otherwise certain goal, which they knew nothing about.

As a Canadiens fan, this actually makes me happy (I know too many people who are Leafs fans). It's not like they totally suck (Belfour was a little off tonight though), they just don't have that extra edge to win. Calgary on the other hand... *sigh*

What's up with Pat Quinn getting beaten up all the time with the puck? You'd think the players were aiming for him....

So has anyone caught a game on OLN yet? I know there are still some issues in certain areas and providers about it, but I found it to be pretty decent and objective coverage. Obviously I usually like to hear the voices of my usual play-by-play and color commentators while I watch them on my local stations, but OLN's guys weren't bad at all.

Still, for me I laugh whenever I see Keith Jones on OLN. It's not because he's doing anything wrong or making fun of himself, it's just that he is so demonstrative and he always looks like he's overly excited. For me that's funny because it's a stark contrast from when I remember seeing him on the ice and when I listen to him on my local radio station each morning.

Think I can join up?

Favorite Teams:

All-Time: Toronto Maple Leafs
Eastern Conference: Toronto Maple Leafs
Western Conference: Colorado Avalanche

Least Favorite Teams:
All-Time: Montreal Canadiens
Eastern Conference: Montreal Canadiens
Western Conference: Mighty Ducks Of Anaheim

Just finished watching one of the best games I've seen, the battle of Ontario, Leafs Vs. Sens. Toronto lost again, unfortunatly, and our now at 0-1-2. If only they could avoid those shootouts... :-(

Well, the Ducks lost tonight even after having a magnificent first period and Giggy performing very well.

On the plus side, Selanne and Perry picked up goals. Both of which are on my fantasy team.

So, the Canucks beat Detroit in Detroit tonight. No easy feat, even without Yzerman. We didn't start out too well, but after the first period ended we pretty much dominated the game. Park's empty net goal with three seconds left was just the icing on the cake : )

Direct all abust at Primalblood, my little brother. He hasn't posted in here since the season started.

In other news, the Avs won 7-3 over the flames last night. I look like a genius, with Marek Svatos scoring a hat-trick in amongst a 4 point night. (Svatos is definately NOT leaving my fantasy team now.)

This man makes a fantastic point.

And with that, San Jose dominated Columbus horribly. They just kept getting rebound after rebound, which would eventually lead to their goals.

Sadly, I missed the game. I was too busy pulling for the Coyotes, who lost yet again. I can respect Nashville, though. They're an extremely fast team who got instant cred when Karyia joined the squad. He is most definatley earning his keep. Winning two shootouts single-handedly.

It's OLN who has rights to air NHL games, they're a subsidiary (I think) of Comcast Cable. You don't have to have Comcast to get OLN, but I've heard that OLN isn't in every market as of yet. But they're just the showcased games. As for local games, you'll have to check with your local listings and provider. Since you're in the Bay area Kam and Comcast is basically based out of Philly it might be tough for you to get to see a game in comparison to my ease.

If you have OLN, then try checking their site for listings and maybe you can catch a game, even if it isn't your hometown team.

Anywho, I'm kinda stoked for tonight's game of the Penguins @ Flyers. Not only do I get to see Sidney Crosby and judge for myself how good he is, I also get to see the return of former Flyers Mark Recchi and John LeClair. Oh and they got some LeMieux guy too. I hope it is a high scoring affair, as I want to see those two do good, but obviously I wan't the Flyers to win... and some fantasy points as well.

I should be a bookie or handicapper or something, because I was dead on. It was a high scoring affair and the Flyers did win in OT 6-5. LeMieux, Crosby and Rex all got in on the points action for the Pens, but Primeau and Gagne came through for me.

Gagne is on fire right now... glad he's on my teams.
