I don't mean any offense to you, but would it be so difficult to throw a few periods into your posts?
From what I could understand, I think the Ukraine could very well upset canada.
After all, america won the 1980 olympics. ^_^

I was just generalising about American people. If you say hockey to an average American, they will some time or another gravitate to 1980.
I haven't seen that movie yet, but I have seen SLAPSHOT!
There's been what, 6 olympics since then? It's not as old as you might think.
Slapshot is a good movie but for realistic Hockey action check out 'Miracle'
phfew, that was a long one
Ya like I said Russian hockey is pretty sweet. Sports Illistrated did an article of a couple of Tampa Bay lightning players that went to Russia to play for AK Bars(another team in the RHL) I believe this year Dynamo was the best team they are from Moscow as well as CSKA i think Moscow has 4 teams. Anyway i'll have to look in to the AHL i have an uncle that lives near cinnci yo. as far as my sig goes I don't think it's that bad...

Ah, the classic matchup of the 2001 Stanley Cup final. Colorado 4-3 New Jersey. Mission 16W, when Ray Borque won his only Stanley Cup. (Interesting fact: NJ's arena is located on exit 16W of the highway into NJ) 16W meaning 16 wins, not the fact that the Avs were off to NJ. (Borque called it that before the playoffs began.)

Atheists and Agnostics are similar. Atheists choose not to believe, while agnostics believe that since nothing is known, there is nothing to believe. (As an agnostic, I believe that it's silly to believe blindly, but might change my view, should better evidence come to light.)

lol yea but lets Get To The Main Issue Hockey gotta find Updates on It Be back as Soon as i can find some
well canada beat Russia yesterday sorry i havent been around to cover it
With the world Championship now ended, it falls to me to commence the dissection of what happened out in Austria.
The Czech Republic took the gold medal, surprising a few with a 3-0 win over Canada. I have to say that since most of the Czechs have been playing regularly, I think they stood a better chance at the offset than Canada.
Maxim Afinogenov took the plaudits for the Russians 6-3 win over the Swedes in the Bronze medal game. He had 2 goals and 1 assist. (I know -Gooch- was shocked about this, but I think that the Russians have some quality young talent coming through, mixed in well with a good core of veterans)
And the USA didn't make it into the top 4. All I can say is that the lockout has hurt both North American sides, making it a much closer affair.
Though I still want the lockout to end desperately.

And it sucks Sweden didn't get a medal. I bet they would've at least won the gold or silver had Mats Sundin played.
Thanks
also I'd like to say that Mats Sundin is probably my favorite player in the NHL maybe it's because im a Maple Leafs fan but anyway as far as Sweden that does suck but im more of a team Russia guy.
At 5/16/05 10:36 AM, -Gooch- wrote: The Russians did have a great team. And like you said, it was comprised of a solid group of young talent and veterans. That's what a good team is made of, and Russia had those elements. If you tip one way or the other, chances are that they won't do as well. With too many young players, you don't have any real leadership, and with too many veterans, there's a case that you might lack the explosive speed or offensive weapon that younger players possess.
With what they had before the lockout, the Red Wings were building towards this, plus the Lightning had it.
Wow it's pretty hard to have an NHL hockey club without the NHL...this sucks. This is some of the biggest BS in the NHL since like, forever. I hate getting stuck watching games between countries, except in the olympics. It's just not the same anymore.
At 5/16/05 02:15 PM, -Gooch- wrote: During the offseason, Phoenix was building towards that, too. After signing guys like Brett Hull and Mike Ricci, they were definitely on their way to that perfect balance.
Great point there. Question: can the Coyotes get Gretzky behind the bench? I've heard the rumors about it.
Now, with San Jose, that's a whole different case. They got rid of pretty much all their older veterans (with the exception of Scott Thornton, thank god). That is misleading to me, however. Patrick Marleau may only be twenty-five right now, but he's been in the league for seven seasons right now. He's shown that he can be the captain of San Jose, even at an early age. They'll be a team to watch once the NHL gets back up and running.
Again true, but this is something which we can't gauge until the hockey starts again.
hey statboy Its Been a while Since You have posyed in this Club
Well Canada Lost i should Start Putting up Some Link to it
man im lazy lol

I've been here pretty constantly, except there's been nothing really worth saying.
I also followed the world championship tournament closely. Frankly I'm not that interested in NHL hockey, or the national league in my country, but what I'm really passionate about is international hockey. (The world cup was a real thrill for me).
It's once again a shame Team Finland didn't make it past the quarter finals. Overtimes and penalty shootouts have always been one of Finland's weaknesses. They still played a decent game against Russia, a team that should have deserved to win the championship. Too bad Russia played a poor first period against Canada in the semi-finals.
Overall, I'm glad it isn't always Canada that wins the championship - not that Czech Republic (or Czechoslovakia) hasn't won it quite too often either. I'd have to say though, the tournament was a slight disappointment. I'm looking forward to the Winter Olympics in Turin next year. Hopefully they'll get NHL back soon enough so there will be time for the Olympic break in the league, and the player will be able to join their national teams.

Well, I was encouraged by the fact that Comissioner Bettman and the boss of the NHLPA neglected to travel to Austria, so they could continue talks aimed at getting a CBA in place for the start of the 2005-06 season.
Mario to sell out? Pens to stay in Pittsburgh?
In other news, we can be hopeful that the players have finally pulled their collective thumbs out of their arses and decided that it's better to play for reduced salary and get paid to play, than not to get paid to play at all.
I knew this would happen, as soon as the Stanley Cup anniversary came around for Tampa Bay.
I apologize for my recent lack of posting here.
Yeah, it seems like everything is rolling again. Although I hope that the NHL hasn't lost too much of its already small fan base.

I think that people will come back to the violence, as soon as it starts again.
All the networks need to do is play Slapshot, just before a game and the audience will stay for the real thing.
At 7/13/05 04:52 PM, -Gooch- wrote: Well, I think it's time to get this club out of the dust after a one month absence of any posts.
It looks like there will be hockey next season after all. There was a six-year agreement for the CBA today, and the salary cap report looks like it'll be anywhere between twenty-one and thirty-nine million dollars for this upcoming season.
about fucking time but Both sides were being fucking greedy im just glad its over and yes it has been a long fucking time since we all posted but thats becoase nothing to talk about since the lockout
When my mother heard the news she was so excited that she just had to call me while I was at work.
So, it appears Lewis is no longer coaching Detroit and Mike Babcock, formerly of the ducks is joining the crew.
I wonder who's going to coach the Ducks this upcoming season
