Eh, Pet Sematary was good, but I wouldn't include it among the best Stephen King adaptations. To me, those are the Shining, the Green Mile and the Dead Zone. I still haven't seen Misery.

When ever you feel powerless, just remember this.
A single one of your pubes can shut down an entire restaurant. - Conal / MOTW: O Lucky Man!
I watched Dark Night of the Scarecrow, a made-for-tv movie from 1981.
Bubba Ritter is a mentally challenged, full grown man, who is best friends with a little girl. A bigoted local mailman named Otis doesn't take kindly to this, and thinks it's only a matter of time before Bubba rapes the girl. When the little girl gets mauled by an angry dog one day, Otis and his like minded friends immediately think Bubba did it, and form a lynch mob. Bubba tries to hide in a cornfield, in the disguise of a scarecrow, but he is found out and shot dead. Otis and his friends beat the rap in court, but they soon learn that there is other justice in this world besides the law. The scarecrow starts inexplicably showing up on their property, and soon they begin dying off one by one.
This is a great movie. I highly recommend it if you want a real chiller.
It's considered by many to be the crown jewel of made-for-tv horror movies. It's also gotten high praise from the likes of Ray Bradbury, Stuart Gordon, and Vincent Price.
Despite what the dvd cover looks like, this is NOT a slasher film about a scarecrow who walks around and stabs people with a pitchfork. This is a movie of great subtlety. It might be too subtle for certain audiences.
It's a great Halloween flick too. It takes place during the Halloween season, and the cornfields and hay give it a real Autumn feel.
If you want a horror movie that offers atmosphere and eerie mood, instead of gore and cheap thrills, you should seek out Dark Night of the Scarecrow.

It's not quite as good as those, but I'd say it's not that far behind.
What I really appreciate about the Pet Sematary movie is that it doesn't try and sugarcoat the harshness of the source material.
Pet Sematary is a very bleak, grim novel. So much so that King considered not publishing it, for fear that he went too far.
They could have gone the Cujo route, and softened the ending, but they didn't.
Just watched V/H/S/2.
SPOILERS
As a whole, I didn't think it was as good as the first one, but the segment where the guy turns into a zombie while he's wearing a helmet cam was creative and fun to watch.

Christ that fucking scene.

candyman
was good until the ending which ruined the whole movie.
I just watched the new evil dead. It was pretty good. It was different in tone from the original but not in a bad way.

The fact it's a sequel rather than a re-make takes away a lot of what I could have gotten mad about.
Just now finished watching the Society (1989). True story about GOP congresspeople behind closed doors.
Seriously, though, wtf did I just watch...

What's so bad about the ending?

Two days ago I watched Zodiac (2007). It took 2 and a half hours for me to realize it wasn't actually a horor movie. Instead of slaughter, it provided me with a lecture. The next day I finally realized there are two Zodiac movies in existance, and I ended up watching the wrong version. Nice going there... Anyway, I watched Sinister (2012) that day, which was wonderfully disturbing! I tried to figure out its plot, but none of my ideas were even close. Very interesting! I really liked this movie, definitely one of this year's favorites. Afterwards, I watched Frankenhooker (1990), which reminded me of Re-Animator. I had a few really good laughs. Definitely another favorite.

(spoiler) candyman was defeated by a getting hit by a burning scrap of wood which completely ruined his credibility. he was supposed to be a powerful supernatural killer.

Oh right I remember that.
For me it went downhill the moment they completely showed Candyman. He should've remained in the dark, with a few glimpses or something, not just standing there in the fucking parking lot.

I forgot to mention that I also wached Bride of Re-Animator last weekend. It was a pretty good follow up to the first movie.
I got up early this morning and had a Hammer triple feature.
The Curse of Frankenstein, Horror of Dracula, and The Mummy.
Watched Scream 2. Pretty good flick. I'd say it's on par with the first film in terms of quality.

i hate those movie posters that have all the characters making serious faces

Poster art is a dieing medium. I think we can all agree to that.
I watched earth vs. the spider today. Yes the mst3k episode but it was one I haven't seen and it's full feature length so it counts. that movie had a cool poster.
That'll get folks into the drive in.

Haven't seen that episode, but I saw the Giant Spider Invasion a few weeks ago. Shit was hilarious.
Anybody surprised there's no horror at the theater this month?
People like going to scary movies the most during Halloween time, and there's nothing out except Carrie, which kinda flopped.
I'm pretty surprised Carrie flopped so much. Regardless of the quality of the movie, it's really the only wide-release horror movie in October.

People are getting tired of re-makes, at long last. What pissed me off was that I saw ads with the line "what if there never was a carrie?" Some of you might have seen that too on cinemassacre. Pretty much the closest a re-make ever came to saying "Hey, if some other guy didn't have the idea first I coulda. faaaaaart"
Today I watched The Changeling, from 1980.
A New York composer, who recently lost his wife and daughter in a road accident, moves into an old, historical mansion in Seattle. While there, he experiences a lot of strange phenomena. Upon investigation, he learns that the house is haunted by the spirit of a young boy, and it is desperately trying to communicate with him. Vaguely directed by the spirit, he sets out to solve a decades old murder mystery.
This is one of the finest haunted house movies I've ever watched. It has that kind of atmosphere that's really hard to find in modern horror movies. The closest thing to it, I think, is the 2007 Spanish movie, The Orphanage.
George C. Scott gives a great performance as the lead. I find that I enjoy him in everything he does.
The musical score is excellent. Watching this will remind you how much a creepy musical score can elevate a horror film.
This movie made the simple act of a bouncy ball bouncing down the stairs blood chilling.
For fans of more subtle horror, this is a must.
Just watched I am legend. After seeing all three film versions of this story (yes I've read the book) I still think omega man is the most entertaining. Will Smith did play the insanity of the character very well though.

I yet to see the Omega Man, but I really like The Last Man on Earth.
Not a big fan of I Am Legend.
"I like Shrek." Really? Why the hell are we advertising Shrek in this movie?

If you like the last man on earth then omega man should please you. It does amp up a lot of stuff for the sake of cinematic so be ready for that. If you're not a BOOK WAS BETTER BECAUSE BOOOOOOOOKKK!!!!!! snob, which I've never known you to be, it's highly recommended.
Starting Near Dark right now, wish me luck.

Really? You're gonna try and market this to the Twilight crowd?

That might be funny to see.
Your average Twilight fangirl might piss her pants if she watched this movie.
