Well, you never know, he may actually benefit from the 'restructuring exercises' at Robert Yates Racing. Who's going to be his teammate next year?

Yeah but i am wondering the same thing. I mean he is going to have to have some help from them just to keep him from crashing.

Trust me, Elliot Sadler isn't really that bad a driver. He just hasn't quite got the set up of the car completely sorted when it comes to some of his incidents.

His fortunes will change. Look at Jeremy Mayfield (qualified 2nd for the Coke 600) and Scott Riggs (Pole). No-one would have seen that coming.

Yeah but still i have a feeling they will finish nowhere near there at the end of the day. So yeah they may have got the front row but they will be finishing towards the middle or even the back of the pack at the end of the day.

Scott Riggs easily had a top-5 car in the all-star race. Had they had a lucky dog award, that would have been proven. Mayfield has been very hit and miss all year, so we need to wait for Sunday night to see what's going on with his machine.

I'm worried about Junior though. His car looks the worst it's been all year and he's starting well down the field on a track where passing is near impossible

Let me try to bring you up to speed.

Kasey Kahne won his thrid of the year, beating Jimmie Johnson (and his stranglehold on the Coke 600). Tony Stewart was involved in a wreck, breaking his shoulder blade, meaning he will drive with Ricky Rudd as his backup for Dover this weekend.

Had you told me that Junior would have finished in 11th after seeing us test the car (and race last week with it) I'd have happily taken the result and gone home. It was one of the few races I watched all the way through live and I was satisfied when I crawled into bed at about 4am on Monday morning.

It seems that I've lost interest in Nascar. I like to watch certain races, but I'm not a huge fan like others. This crew seems to be close to death, and I feel that I'm not part of it. So, sadly, I'm leaving the Nascar Crew. I will continue to be a Tony Stewart fan. I'll see you in the star wars club Coop.

So long.

Well, keep on lurking and I'll keep up with my race reports, sketchy as they are.

I'll be there

Pocono 500, Pocono raceway
A few events have happened with around 80-90 laps left to run. I've just watched green flag pit stops (Carl Edwards fell off the jack, Kyle Busch, Brian Vickers and Jimmie Johnson all sped on pit road)

Kurt Busch leads, Greg Biffle second and Dale Earnhardt Jr is third. We could do with a caution to get everyone back on sequence and bunch the field up, otherwise it'll be an easy win for the blue deuce

well i just did a search to see if there was a nascar crew, and it turns out i made one 5 years ago and forgot about it. haha. if anyone is interested in this sport (yes SPORT) at all on here, lets get a discussion going about it. we're starting to get down into crunch time. watkins glen tomorrow which is always an exciting race. here are the standings as of now.

poor jamie. why do i have to like such a hopeless driver? haha. who are you guys rooting for in the chase though?

Well, you're not alone there - Dale Jr hasn't really had an average season, considering that his 3 teammates are all in the chase. I personally would love to see Mark Martin win in the 5 car, but it's still just a dream.

no he's been doing terrible. :/ and i'd like to see martin win a championship too. i'm fairly confident he's never gotten one. and yeah i'll post the top 20 finishers or something tomorrow for you jkmonkey.

Response to NASCAR Crew 2009-08-09 20:52:05

UGH! Watkins Glen has been postponed until tomorrow at noon eastern time due to rain. This shit is getting old. It happened last weekend at Pocono too. I guess that's good for you though JKMonkey because now you can watch it. :) Marcos Ambrose qualified 4th and he is damn good on these road courses. My pick is either him or Boris Said for the win tomorrow. I'll update you guys with the standings after the race is over.

Response to NASCAR Crew 2009-08-10 19:31:30

Oh fuck me, Ambrose got second to Tony Stewart. I hate that asshole. :( Here's the top 10 finishers in yesterdays race.

1 13 14 Tony Stewart
2 4 47 Marcos Ambrose
3 33 99 Carl Edwards
4 8 18 Kyle Busch
5 7 16 Greg Biffle
6 10 42 Juan Montoya
7 2 2 Kurt Busch
8 16 113 Max Papis
9 38 33 Clint Bowyer
10 3 11 Denny Hamlin

And how all of this effects the chase.

1 -- Tony Stewart 3383
2 -- Jimmie Johnson 3123
3 -- Jeff Gordon 3041
4 -- Kurt Busch 2902
5 -- Denny Hamlin 2847
6 -- Carl Edwards 2830
7 +1 Juan Montoya 2781
8 -1 Kasey Kahne 2754
9 -- Ryan Newman 2727
10 +2 Greg Biffle 2718
11 -1 Mark Martin 2716
12 -1 Matt Kenseth 2685

I'd like to see Juan Montoya finish in the top 5. None of the converted open wheel drivers seem to be able to do much in the points. It'd be cool to see him do well.

My dad works on a pit crew in the Busch Series. Haha. I'm always waiting for some shit like that to happen to him so i can laugh about it.

what drivers do you like michelinman?

I like Sterling Marlin and Jamie McMurray, mainly just because my dad worked with the #40 coors light car with chip ganassi racing in 2003 and I got to hang out with both of those guys every time they came to NC. Watching the Charlotte races up in Sterlings condo over turn one is about the coolest thing in the world. Haha. But Sterling is pretty much done, and Jamie is getting dropped from Rousch at the end of the season and i don't know if he is gonna get picked up by anyone worth a shit. We'll see. Who do you like?

thats pretty cool, it takes a mechanic 2 days to adjust my tires, it takes a pit crew 15 seconds, lol

Well, that's the problem with not having the correct tools for the job. I can adjust tyre pressures easily and it doesn't take me 2 days to do it.

Who do you like?
any driver except for Kurt & Kyle Busch, i hate them both with a passion, but I always like to see Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon win

I'm not a fan of seeing Jimmie Johnson win - he just seems too arrogant to me. I much prefer seeing any of the other Hendrick Drivers taking home the chequered flag.

Good driving from Stewart and Ambrose at the finish of the race, plus a couple of spectacular wrecks featuring the Hendrick temamates Gordon and Earnhardt Jr. I don't think that Dale Jr. has been able to catch a break all year.

Oh well, there's always next year, I suppose...

I remember when Jimmie Johnson was a rookie and he won the pole for the Daytona 500. I thought it was really cool that a rookie won the pole for such a big race, and I rooted for him. As he became more known, I've grown to hate him. I beat his little brother in a bandalero race when I was younger though. :)

I always smile inside whenever Gordon wrecks, and I'm emotionless about Earnhardt Jr. Not for or against. He's definitely been struggling as of late though.

Allmendinger of all people right now? You can tell your season is going bad when somebody like Allmendinger is running ahead of you in points.

I hear that - while it's too late for this season, I'm still skeptical if it was actually a lack of communication between Eury Jr. and the other crew chiefs. Perhaps they'll be able to get it sorted for next year and we'll actually be able to see the 88 on victory lane.

Now I know some of it's been bad luck, but I think most of it has just been lack of communication within the team. How is it that Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, and Jimmie Johnson always fly out onto the track with a consistent car, yet Jr. seems to be steps behind all of his teammates? It's just kind of weird.

Perhaps (and I don't want to cast aspersions about Dale Jr. here, but he seems like the common denominator) it's Junior, who hears the advice from everyone else and makes the wrong decision. Maybe Lance McGrew needs to take more of a hard line with him.

Methinks that maybe Rick Hendrick wishes he kept Kyle Busch after all. Then again, this could have all been avoided if he just would have gotten rid of Casey Mears in the first place.

Yep, that would be it - Busch got lucky, fitting straight into a program that had a good car and some great funding to take it away from the doldrums that Bobby Labonte had been in over the past few seasons.

This brings up a good point for us to talk about. I remember when the "Chase" system first came out a couple years ago, and I was very skeptical of it, and still am. More than once someone has come from out of 14th or lower in the points and managed to squeeze in decently high in the points. It really pisses me off because as a Mcmurray fan (and I'm sure you Dale Jr. fans feel the same way this year that I've felt for the last several), It really eliminates his chance to make a late season run and finish up in the top 8 or so in the points. It's got to be demoralizing to a driver when they stalk the cutoff line all year long, and then they are suddenly out of contention for the last ten races of the season. I personally have just never gotten on the bandwagon with it. NASCAR was exciting for DECADES without the chase system, and I think they really tainted a lot of history by instating it. What do you guys think?
