Here's the current stats and Jr is only 106 out of the chase, with Jeff Gordon having squeaked in by 4 points. This could all change in the next few weeks, so keep a watch out!

Hell, let's just leave it like it is. I'm a STATBOY, that's what I do. There isn't really any need for President or Vice President, because we seem to be the only 2 here...

so who do you think was the best nascar driver ever

Dale Earnhardt or Richard Petty. They call Petty the king, so he must be up there, plus I saw Earnhardt driving towards the end of his career. He was super fast.
Talking of Dale Earnhardt leads me nicely to Sunday's race, where Dale Jr got his first win of the year, holding off the superior car of Matt Kenseth to win the USG Sheetrock 400. This is one of the few tracks that Jeff Gordon hasn't won at, so it feels special that Junior can win there when Jeff hasn't.

yes this is greeeet <sarcasm/> but now that gordon is a hundred pionts out of the chase that can't be good

As it stands, 3 of last years chasers are out of the chase this year. Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth. These have been replaced by Greg Biffle, Rusty Wallace and Jamie McMurray.
Also, McMurray to drive the #6 Viagra Ford for Roush Racing next year. Surprised?
At 7/20/05 01:15 AM, byrd798 wrote: anyone think that the number of crashes are going down
I'd even go so far as to say the number of crashes is going UP. This smaller spoiler is causing problems, as is the tyre wear in some places.
Tony Stewart won another dominating race and scaled the fence to grab the checkered flag. Here's the latest standings. I get the feeling that Tony Stewart is peaking a little early.
I also feel really sorry for Jeff Gordon. Hisbrakes went south with about 30 laps to go, costing him a top-5, which he really needs. Junior is in decent shape of making the chase, but there's still another 7 races left to sort that out. He needs more wins.
ok I was just wondering because of all the protection stuff they have been doing i was wondering if they were trying stop the thing that is dangerous crashes oh and thanks for the update i missed the last race

The smaller spoiler and lower gear ratio have been designed to slow the cars down, but the best safety implementations have been the safer barriers (Polystyrene, or styrofoam blocks behind a steel barrier, placed in front of the original concrete barriers) and the HANS (Head And Neck Support) device.
If they try to slow the cars down any more, this sport will go the way of Formula 1, which is silly, with the one set of tyres per race weekend rule.
im kinda disapointed that Mark Martin didn't win that viagra car just kept going for a while then he slipped back he could have used a win for his final year

Both he and Rusty raced well, during their 'Farewell tour', finishing second and third in the Pennsylvania 500. I hope each one of them gets a win before the seaon is out.
sorry i've been away here are the standings if you look at it gordon still not in the chase but he has won the most money this year

I'd say the Jr's chances have gone though, after he was punted into the wall. (I'm so bitter about that, becasue after Poccono, I'd have thought we can use that setup well. We didn't.
Well, now we know who the ten chasers are for the NEXTEL Cup. Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle, Rusty Wallace, Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, Mark Martin, Jeremy Mayfield, Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth and Ryan Newman.
No Junior, No Gordon, but still a HUGE race for that cup.
Who's it gonna be?
In the Busch Series, Martin Truex Jr had a really scary ride, after gettign nerfed into the wall by Mike Wallace.

Well, that's too bad. Hope you aren't in Houston, because they're evacuating it for Rita sometime soon.

Well, Gordon has said he's going to auction his helmet to raise money for the victims of Katrina. He urged people to give generously. Personally, I think that NASCAR should have given him some community service, or something which actually helped. The US government is giving enough money, what they now need is manpower.

Robby Gordon (7) and Michael Waltrip (15) had an altercation on the track. Apparently, 15 drove 7 into the wall, but the TV angles wouldn't give any sort of clear indication as to who did what. 7 tries to back into 15 when they came around under caution (45-60mph) and missed (!) 7 then got out of his car and removed his helmet. He waited for the pack to come around again and then tried to throw his helmet through 15's window. He missed by about 3 feet.
This cost 7 about $50k and 15 about $25k.
When will the update for the Post begin...if anyone wants i can do it

Feel free. I've been spending far too much time playing NASCAR 2006 'Total Team Control' than I really should
nascar crew excellent. this is what ive ben waiting for. my favorite driver is dale earnhardt jr and ive almost beaten nascar dirt to daytona on the camecube. (im stuck on the truck series) so.. can i join?
What I lack in accuracy, I make up for in enthusiasm

Welcome aboard. I just started racing the Craftsman Trucks on Nascar 2006: TTC on the PS2. I can't seem to finish races higher than 36th (last) I got bumped from 1st to the wall at California, which sucked.

i hate it when that happens. it always seems to happen right near the last lap to! the newest game in the series i have is still nascat thunder 2003 (i also have nascar thunder 99 for n64, as well as dirt to daytona)
i still cant beleive that dale earnhardt jr didnt make it into the chase. =(. im just hopin either harvick or stewart gets it.

But the next race was at Martinsville, a track where my average finish is 1 from 8 races. That and Louden are my favourite tracks.

Harvick didn't make the chase either. It was all the fault of Roush Racing, which has 5 of the 10 chasers, with 2 Penske (Newman and Wallace), Jimmie Johnson's Hendrick, Jeremy Mayfield's Evernham Dodge and Stewart of the Joe Gibbs racing team.
Roush has more than twice the number of drivers compared to any other team. It is unfair.
i think i'll join. my favorite driver is Jeff Gordon. Pity he wasn't doing so well this year and didn't make Chase. Oh well, i'll be watching how Jimmie Johnson does as well as Tony Stewart. The Chase is getting pretty exciting though with Edwards winning.

I'd say it's down to three horses. Tony 'Smoke' Stewart in the 20, Jimmie 'Blameless' Johnson in the 48 and Carl 'I'm no Rookie' Edwards on the 99 as the dark horse.
If he keeps up this pace, he can take the championship, but I still think it's down to the Chevvys of Stewart and Johnson to make mistakes and hand Edwards some points.
