Ya but until the Flames are eliminated I hate everyone in the Western top 10.

I wish to become a member of your NHL club.

Eastern Conference: No one really, but I choose Dominik Hasek and the Ottawa Senators
Western Conference: Die hard Detroit Red Wings fan

I'm trying to wax philosophical about the now 5-point gap between the Avs and Flames atop the Northwest Division. This leaves us 6th in the conference, facing the flames in the first round. I think I'd rather play the Flames than the Predators, who are having a great year (albeit quiet since Detroit has eclipsed them so well)

Looking towards some great matchups, even though our streak of Northwest titles has probably been ended.

Good news for the Ducks, the Avs lost tonight to the wild. Giving Anaheim not only a points edge, but a games remaining one. Ducks and Calgary play twice in the last 4 or so games. I'be attending the one in Anahiem next monday, so that'll be nice.

Edmonton lost on Al MacInnis night. The Blues got 2 goals, both by players with the number "2" in their number. The Blue snapped a franchise record 13 game long losing streak.

The Sharks will make the playoffs, there's no doubt, it's just a matter of if they end up 6-8.
I want to like the Sharks, but I despise cheechoo, and the way he reacts after he scores. With the dropping to one knee and pumping of his fists. It make me so sick, he's such a sub-par player without Thorton.

He also pulled the Bill Guerin trick. Playing a season with somebody who inflates your stats, then sign a huge contract to cash in.

Yup. Now the Flames can clinch the division with 3 more points :D

Yup... I'm excited even though it won't have much impact.
If both teams make it past the 1st round they'll play each other in the Playoffs right?

I think the only one which is a close call is Sturm / Federov.

So you'd settle for the Wings then? :P

But more realistically, who do you think you're going to face. Maybe my Avs.

Well, it looks as though the Ducks will be facing Nashville in the first round, it's just a matter of who will be on home ice. But with the Preds remaining schedule, I've got to give it to them.

The Ducks shouldn't be panicking though, because during the season they beat Nashville three times and lost in a shootout once. With Paul getting the winner, no less.

Actually, Vokoun's injury is proving to be season ending. All for the better should Anahiem meet them in the first round.

We wouldn\'t mind.

Your Avs only got worse this year, in statistics and players.

Plus, Theodore gave up a few goals in his debut, against the offensively challenged Wild.

Though, Tanguay and Konowalchuk are practicing again. and Konowalchuk brings some good things to the team. Leadership, penalty killing, and even some offense.

It will be either Avs (70% chance that we'll face them) Sharks (25% chance) or Oilers (5% chance)

David did a lot worse over in Montreal.

I still think they (avs) got the better of that trade..

After giving up 5 goals three times in a row he's rounding into shape. He gave up 3 on like 49 shots vs the Sens. And he's been given another start today.

I can't fathom why the Habs are giving him so many chances when Huet has been amazing.
They're still fighting for playoff positioning.

I would like to join the club, I am a diehard hockey fan!

from the east I liek Ottawa, (they are going to win this year)

from the west I like Calgary flames.

I dislike Detroit, Colorado, New York Rangers SOoooo much, they are bought and I don not like teams that are bought, feel free to disagree with me though!

Given the new salary cap, that's fairly impossible. and both teams are doing fantastic without a salary advantage.

and gooch can rest easy, his Sharks won tonight and Cheech got #50.

In a must-win for Vancouver, they got lit-up in the first period, going down 3-0. In the second they pressured the ducks but gave up the fourth on a defensive error. They would go on to net 2 goals and make a game of it, but Giguere had shields up, making 20 saves in the second.

The win clinched the playoffs for Anaheim and put the Canucks into dire straights. If they can't sweep San Jose in the upcoming home and home series they won't make the playoffs.

With a win over the Oiler tomorrow night or losses by Ottawa and Carolina, the Detroit Red Wings will win the Presidents Cup and lock up home ice throughout the playoffs.

Yes, it's a dead heat for teams trying to lock up the 5th through 8th spots. Vancouver (9th) and LA (10th) are still in the running.

5 Anaheim - 96 pts, 4 games left
(@ Calgary, @ Edmonton, @ San Jose, vs. Calgary)
6 San Jose - 93 pts, 4 games left
(@ Vancouver, vs. Vancouver, vs. Anaheim, vs. LA)
7 Colorado - 92 pts, 4 games left
(vs. Phoenix, @ Calgary, @ Vancouver, @ Edmonton)
8 Edmonton - 91 pts, 3 games left
(@ Detroit, vs. Anaheim, vs. Colorado)
_________
Vancouver - 89 pts, 3 games left - 2 pts out of 8th
(vs. San Jose, @ San Jose, vs. Colorado)
Los Angeles - 85 pts 3 games left - 6 pts out of 8th
(@ Phoenix, vs. Calgary, @ San Jose)

You only despise Cheechoo because he's on my fantasy team, admit it.

You have to look at it this way, though. There's always one player that has somebody else to make them an elite combo. Jari Kurri had Gretzky, Jagr had Lemieux at the start of his career, and so on and so forth. Even if he may seem like a subpar player, you can't take away anything he's accomplished this year, with or without Joe Thornton.

50 goals is a rare enough plateau, so surely you can't knock him for reaching that. I don't think he would have without Joe Thornton (possible MVP challenger for Jagr :P), but he is getting better, as his career develops. Remember, this is only his third NHL season.

At 4/10/06 04:13 PM, -Canas- wrote: You seem to be forgetting the Wings record against underdog teams...

That was the OLD NHL, when they had people like the Dominator in goal. They are playing great this year (I hate to say it) and are one of the main contenders for the West title

Your Avs only got worse this year, in statistics and players.

Injuries have hurt us. If we had a full strength team, we wouldn't be doing so badly.

At 4/10/06 04:42 PM, VeryProudofYa wrote: Plus, Theodore gave up a few goals in his debut, against the offensively challenged Wild.

He's not match fit yet. I don't recall him having a rehab assignment in Hershey, so he's coming in cold.

Though, Tanguay and Konowalchuk are practicing again. and Konowalchuk brings some good things to the team. Leadership, penalty killing, and even some offense.

When they start playing again, we will be ready for the playoffs (I hope they won't have finished by then)

At 4/10/06 04:53 PM, -Gooch- wrote: Honestly, I really don't want to see Konowalchuk back, just in case San Jose and Colorado ends up facing each other in the playoffs like in 2004. I believe he's a force in this new league.

But I don't want to see the Sharks coming to play, with Cheechoo and Thornton, either

At 4/10/06 07:20 PM, -Canas- wrote: I still think they (avs) got the better of that trade..

Both of those goalies have great potential. They both have 30+ wins in a year and are both about the same age. Theodore has noone to really contest with him for the #1 spot, while Abby now has a fight with Huet.

I'll tell you what I think after Theodore has had a few more games to fit in. He could help us go far... but he could also be a shitbrick.

It's still in the balance.

I am quite happy with cheech and #50, was there any really exciting games last night? I was unable to watch any, because I was gone. My dad is so stupid! Me and him at the beginning of the year were suppose to pick two teams, one of which was our favorite (so ottawa for me, Montreal for my dad). So who do I pick, detroit. WHo does he pick? Colorado. Lol I have one this baby!

Manny Legace (Detroit Red Wings) tallied his 7th shutout of the season in a 2-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. That win gives the Red Wings the President's Cup trophy and home ice throughout the playoffs.

I'm hoping to mount a late charge and make 9th, maybe 8th at the outside
