Yeah, Claude Lemieux was a pretty good player. He started the whole Detroit / Colorado rivalry (For which I am eternally grateful.)

He-larious.
So this past season during the regular games Detroit and the Avs played Detroit won more right?

Yeah, they did. I was a little angry, at first, but the games were so much fun to watch. Rivalry games are probably the best to watch (especially in the playoffs) I'd love to see the Avs and Wings meet in the playoffs.

Well don't worry about Detroit besting the avs, in one game when the ducks play detroit, detroit lost 8 to 6.
I think the wings wouldn't win in the playoffs anymore, they recently lost Brett Hull who has the most playoff game winning goals ever, and detroit is to old

Even if Brett Hull has left and the mainstay of the Detroit playing staff is quite old, they have got some of the best young talent around.

Never write the Wings off. They fight like a wounded tiger. Viciously and very effectively.

I'm still a huge fan of the Wings, I just said that if they were to play the avs in a playoff game the avs would probably be victiorius

I would hope that the Avs are victorious, but I really don't know about Aebischer. He's a good goalie and all that, but he didn't really do that well, last playoffs.

I think that if Avs Vs Wings came up, I'd have to go to Denver, to watch at least one game.

Abiescher is their only downfall. The team is impeccable.
I remember a few years ago i was telling my dad that Tanguay would be amazing one day. Back then he was a third line center, i believe. Now look at him, he is keeping up with some of the top players in the world on one of the sickest teams. And he used to laugh at me. : D

I said the same about Drury. Had he stayed, he would have been a great player for us. Now he languishes in Buffalo (Apologies to all you sabres fans, but it's the truth)

We've got one of the best scouting programmes in the league. We can get the youth talent, and bring them into the fold. The maun key, is to get the veterans to youth ratio right. I think Detroit and the Leafs are too heavy on Vets, while teams like Washington are now too young.

i really like the avs also, but last year i was so happy that kariya and selanne were comin to the avs, but all they did was suck.....god it made me so angry all the potential they had to have a legendary season.....it just made them look like a joke with all that talent and almost nothin to show for it

And all that money wasted. I felt so dissapointed that they couldn't pull it off. I understand that Kariya was injured most of the year, but Selanne was fit most of the year and he sucked.

Pierre Lacroix (Avs GM) needs to spend the money more wisely, next time.

Well, I think it all has to do with the amount of talent on the teams they came from.
When Kariya was on the ducks he was the best for they're team and the same for Karyia, but when they went on the avs they were playing with players better than them and they lost the spotlight.

An interesting point, but do you think that Selanne suffered from not playing on the same line as Kariya, during his injuries?

Hmm, that is a good point also. And no, i don't personally. I think Selanne has no excuse really. He very well could be one of the best current players in the league and very well could lead the league in points next season if he is at his potential and best. Kariya has a few excuses, but Selanne does not. In my opinion anyway.

The same could be said for Forsberg, Tanguay and Sakic. We have real talent, in Denver. (Makes a change)

All i have to say to that is... True.
I am not sure how old Selanne is, but for Sakic it is beginning to become age ithink. Tanguay though, has stepped it up quite a bit lately (or since i last saw). He just needs to try and stay more consistent.

Response to NHL Hockey Fan-Club 2005-01-17 20:21:08

i say they trade selanne away.....for a defense
and keep kariya for one more year and see how he does and depending how he does they can do whatever

I have absolutely no idea how the lockout is going to affect the players. Most of them are playing in leagues which have different players and different rules to the NHL, so when they come back, they are going to have to adjust to playing with all their teammates again and against all their old rivals.

It's going to be mentally tough for them.

Nope, but I did hear a funny parody of 'Seasons In The Sun' by Terry Jacks on the radio today. If I was at home I would've recorded it. A lot of people are taking shots at the stupidity of the NHL lockout. Greed on both sides.

Well, it looks like the NHL are trying to say that 'We did everything we could to give us hockey this year.' so they can get an impasse declared and run the show by their own rules, without union interference.

Personally, I think this way would work, because from what I've read, the players are the people who are taking the most money out of the franchises, in wages alone. If nothing is done, the whole of the NHL would go under in about 2 seasons. (The major teams with big money would go under, due to lack of opposition)

Ther players are not likely to take a pay cut after one season just to get playing again.
What I want to know is are the players getting payed in the lockout?
If they are getting payed for only trainned why would they want to do anything else.

Not the veterans who are on large lucrative contracts, but the young players who actually have a future in the new NHL.

Only if they were added to the injured roster before the lockout was declared. As soon as they are off the IR, their pay stops.

If they are getting payed for only trainned why would they want to do anything else.

They aren't getting paid, so they get contracts with other clubs (Sweden, Russia, Germany, UK and the Minor leagues in the states.)

NASN, where I watch my hockey has been keeping me going (barely) with NCAA mens hockey and AHL on occasion. Not as good as the real thing, but it keeps me satisfied until the Daytona 500.

They don't show minor league games here in California, the only one I saw was the Cinncinati Ducks vs. The Griffins

105.1 JACK FM (they play what they want). I can't remember exactly how it went but there was something about watching hockey and the winter breeze, drinking beer and cutting the cheese. Weird Al was the best at parody songs.

Well then, that's gotta be the one because I live in beautiful British Columbia! The radio station just said the rain should stop by later tonight but it's not raining. As a matter of fact it hasn't rained all day. Whatever that guy is on I want some!!

I miss going to the Canuck games. I don't miss paying $12 for a hotdog and a beer.
