Wow! Montréal kicked Ottawa's ass for the second time in a row :)
Well The Flames got royaly FUCKED by the refs yesterday against the canucks... Flames where about to win it until the last 5 minutes where they started calling Flames for the most bullshit calls EVER.
It was a perfect example of a ref changing the outcome of a game.
O'well Flames get a point and keep a 4 points lead on 1st place in the division.
best hit ever was tucker on kapanen in game 6 last year
I never saw it because I only wacth leaf games. They're a kickass team.
Sykora was obtained by the New York Rangers Sunday from the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, along with a 2007 fourth-round draft choice, in exchange for defenseman Maxim Kondratiev. The 29-year-old recorded seven goals and 13 assists in 34 games with Anaheim this season. He has scored at least 20 goals in each of his last six NHL season
Sykora should be a nice fit for the Rangers as he joins fellow Czech natives Jaromir Jagr, Martin Straka, Martin Rucinsky and rookie Petr Prucha.
I'm glad I hang onto him, hopefully his goal scoring will increase as he joins his fellow contrymen

Ya, the Flyers lost to the Penguins in a similar situation earlier in the season. Up 2, bullshit calls ensue, next thing you know its tied and they lost in OT. Nothing really they can do about it when certain players know exactly how to draw a penalty that is a bogus call; or the players don't really know what's an infraction because it changes day to day. There really doesn't seem to be a gray area yet, at least in my opinion.
I bet it was the younger ref making all the bullshit calls.

It was a pretty good hit I'll give ya that, but I dunno if it was the best ever. Tucker has to do atleast something well, right? I mean all he does is hit and take dives no? I always thought Stevens on Lindros was pretty nasty.
Okay, a quick summary of the NGHL for my team (Banshees)
Brian Berard carried them last night, with a power play hat-trick and a game winner. A nice way for him to perform. Alexi Zhamnov is listed as day-to-day, but Yahoo has noted him as having a broken ankle WTF?
I have dropped Zhamnov, as he just isn't performing. In comes PJ Axleson in a straight swap, so hopefully, he can perform instead.
When it comes to hits, that Stevens hammer on Kariya was pretty brutal.
Anyone noticed how many Czechs the Rangers have on their team? I think it may be one of the highest concentrations of a nationality on any team, especially now that they've added Sykora.

Well, except for Canadians or Americans on any given team, of course. The thing is, it works, so they aren't about to stop, are they?

My team is fucked.
Seriously.
Whooo man.
The Ducks came away from their third matchup of the season with a 6-2 victory. They had fantastic goaltending from Jiggy, who stopped 41 of the shots he faced. Hedstrom got his first career hat trick, and the rookies they called up combined on the first goal of the game. I think the ducks are going to survive without Sykora, or at least for now.
Whoa, the production for the Avs came from my fantasy team last night. I only have four Avs on my team (only :D) Svatos (10 pts) Tanguay (5) Blake (2.5) and Aebischer (3)
Not only did the Avs win 6-1 over the blues, but Svatos scored his second career hat-trick (tied among NHL rookies with 25 goals, Ovetchkin.) Also, I scored 10 points more than anyone else in the fantasy league.
/gloat
Now that we've done that, I can also point out that Marty Brodeur is 5 shut outs away from a complete season of shut-out hockey. He notched #77 last night against Philly (sorry philleeguy)
I just can't bear to think about a whole career season of hockey, without conceeding a goal. That's just obscene.

Yeah, that was an ugly game for the Flyers. I can't knock 'em though. They're 7-1-1 on an 11 game trip that i think ties an NHL record. They were bound to have a bad game sometime.
I love the fact that edmonton is so low in the standings!
Flames playing Rangers tonight... Hamerlik is coming back in the line-up tonight.

It'll be interesting to see if they start Kipper, common knowledge says yes, but he has played just terribly against the New York rangers.
Tonight is also the debut of Sykora in a blueshirt.
Suprise, Suprise... The two goal lead curse strikes again and the the Flames lose 4-2 (Empty netter).

Sykora got a goal and an assist in his rangers premier, and Prucha got a rare assist in the win.
Boston got POUNDED by San Jose. A San Jose that played most of the game without Joe Thorton - he was ejected less than six minutes into the game.

I think it was crap that Thornton was ejected from the game. It's not like he rammed Hal Gill into the boards while his head was down. He gave Gill time to brace himself for the oncoming impact. It wasn't even that dirty of a hit, and there shouldn't have been a penalty on that play.
I cant belive it etiher...

I thnik the officials were briefed to expect a potential for bad blood between Thornton and some of the Bruins players. The same could be said for players like Sturm etc and the Sharks players, though.
Thornton made the first move (not a particularly malicious one, it has to be said) and paid the price.
Avs win again. 6 straight wins, which I would not have believed before the streak started, since we sucked so badly. If we can get hot through this second half of the season, who knows where it will end?
Maybe I'm getting carried away.
At 1/12/06 04:21 AM, Coop83 wrote: Avs win again.
Well, yeah. They played against Montreal, a team they've consistently beaten since 1995. Plus, as much as I like the Canadiens, they ain't so hot this year.
Nothing to brag about.
At 1/12/06 10:09 AM, DancingTurkeyGod wrote: Nothing to brag about.
The first time we've won 6 straight since the lockout certainly is something to brag about. I'm just wondering if the Avs as a team have got used to the whole new rules, as a package.
Islanders have fire their 9th head coach in 10 years, you have to wonder how the GM lept his job through that, but it appears he'll step down shortly.
Penguins coach called his team's defense pathetic. So, in response, they get lit up 6-1 against the league's worst offense.
ouch
At 1/12/06 10:53 PM, -Gooch- wrote: Look at that. San Jose goes into Ottawa and shuts them out. How rare has that been this year? Hardly anybody's beat Ottawa period, let alone go into Ottawa and shut them out.
I'm proud of my team. It's just taking them one step closer to climbing from where they're at and getting towards the top of the Western Conference. This has got to be a big momentum and confidence boost for them, and I'm talking BIG.
Well, Ottawa has been in one of their worst stretches of the season, and they're playing without one of their top 3 forwards, but it was still an impressive victory. They just couldn't get it running on the power play.
Prucha, Sykora, and Rucchin each recorded a goal and an assist in a 5-4 win over the Oilers.
That brings Sykora up to 4(2 goals, 2 assists) points in his first two games as a ranger.
Also, I think every Pacific division team that played tonight came away with a win.

That's a HUGE story for them. On a side note, one of my friends has NHL 2006 from EA, he tried to orchestrate the Joe Thornton trade and for all the same terms. Both sides of the coin said 'get the hell out of my office'
That trade is a symbol of how San Jose's season has turned. They were average, but all of a sudden, they're one of the big boys again.
Flames better fucking win tonight. 3 straight losses. Once to canucks (well more so to the reffs), one to the Rangers and then one to the fucking Islanders. I can't belive where still first in the NW.
Hell yea NHL rules
Colorado Avalanche (go marek svatos)
Pittsburgh Penguins (we'll get better eventually)
Sweet 4-1 win over the Wild gives us a 2 point cushion on 1st.

Actually, Vancouver also won, so they only maintained their lead.
