You had canadian player in that formation in the 80's but... my point was latelly Canada seems to win everything... and of course States are right there a lil under Can.

However, my dream team.... you want me to give you 4 Offencive Lines and 3 Defensive one? Or only one set up? And could I mixte old player (retired) with players actually playing?

Try and keep it modern I don't care how many lines. Here is one line and two goalies just off the top of my head
RWBrett Hull
LWPaul Karyia
CSteve Yzerman or Peter Foresburg
LDNikaulas Lidstrom
RD Is Scott Stevens a right D? I can't remember
1st goalie Marty Turco
2nd goalie Mikka Kiprusoft

That's pretty sick indeed!!! You're talking to a Red WIngs Fan... so I so agree with Steve, Bret, Lidstrom!

By the way, have you heard about Pavel Datsuyk? This kid is soooo talented he will become the next Yzerman of Detroit..... and that one Zetterberg, he will be the new Shanahan!

But for your Goalie... I dunno, I rather have Kiprusoft First and... Brodeur Second

Well, I'd probably keep the same sort of set up, with a few minor changes...

RW Brett Hull
LW Wayne Gretzky
C Mario Lemieux or Steve Yzerman
LD Al Macinnis
RD Ray Borque
Goalie 1 Patrick Roy
Goalie 2 Martin Brodeur

Even though three of them have definately retired and two of the others (Yzerman and Macinnis) may retire should the dispute go on longer than expected, I still think this is the best modern lineup that you could hope to get on a first line. (Note that there's 6 out of 8 Canadian players and two Americans. Not a European in sight. Give it 10 years and maybe there will be a better balance.)

LW - Wendel Clark
C - Joe Sakic
RW - Peter Forsberg

RD - Redden
LD - Borque

G1 - Patrick Roy
G2 - Khabibulin (lol spell?)

Obviously i'd have Gretzky over any of'em, but i was trying to think of others other then him. Don;t ask me why i like Redden so much, i just like his style, same with Johanson, but i think he can get sloppy sometimes.

RW Brett Hull
LW Pavel Datsuyk
C Steve Yzerman
LD Nicklas Lidstrom
RD Rob Blake
Goalie 1 Mikka Kiprusoft
Goalie 2 Martin Brodeur

ALL Time (with retired player) Set UP

RW Steve Yzerman
LW Wayne Gretzky
C Mario Lemieux
LD Nicklas Lidstrom
RD Paul Coffey
Goalie 1 Dominique Hasek
Goalie 2 Patrick Roy

I like Turco's style. He's feisty.
Oh ye for my lineup I would possibly have Jaromior Jagr in their, he's a monster on the ice

BTW did anyone else know that Curtis Joseph had the best save percent in the playoffs? Or maybe it was Goals Against Average

I can understand everyone else in your team, but Scott Stevens? Why? He's not really the best D in the league, he spends way too much time in the penalty box and there are easily four guys in the league better than him:

Blake
Foote
Lidstrom
Hatcher

I would not say Foote is the ebst either. He may be up there at times, but at times he is off alot too. I respect him though, but his style isn't quite to my liking.

So, who are the players that make up your best Defence, then, Myst? (Current players only)

How many do i get to pick? (2 or 4 or...)

Pick six, cos that's the normal number for a team. I only picked 4, because I had to leave for food that second. I'll get back with another two as soon as I think of them...

Pronger (Stl)
Niedermayer (NJ) I think he's their best D, not Stevens.

Okay, my six are simple (not in any order):

Blake
McInnis
Pronger
Leetch
Brewer
Jovanoski

Sorry if i spelt their names all wrong, but now that i think of it, Foote would be next probably... Jovanoski (in my mind) is a tad better than Foote.

Decent picks, you think?

I think that maybe Chelios in his prime may have made the list also, but McInnis proves himself as a shooter, with the hardiness of Blake and Pronger thrown in there. However, I do not no perennial Norris winner Nik Lidstrom. I think he would have got on the list, no trouble.

You are right about Chelios, in his prime, he was one of my favs. Now, he isn't quite what he used to be when he was Captain of the BlackHawks.
Lidstrom is obviously a great player, but i also feel, now, he is past his prime. I never was a huge fan of him, but somthing about his style of play turns me off. He was great, but never amazing.

Ya, but we are in 05 now...
He can hit hard, but isnt as swifty or smart as some of the others... plus, i dont think he has it in him anymore. When NJ last won, he was a star, because he was captain... but he really didnt do all that much in my eyes.

I don't like Cujo... he's a great goaltender.... but he always "give" one goal to the oponent. I prefer Manny Legace!

This kid has been practicing with Vernon, Osgood, Hasek and Joseph and all of them have one one if not more cup with the Wings (Only Jospeh didn't)

Still, you've gotta give him credit. What is he, 42, 43? If I could play hockey as well as he can at 42, when I'm 24, I'd be making a comfortable living, playing pro Ice hockey. Maybe not in the NHL, but maybe Sweden or Russia.

scott neidermyer or however you spell it is the best defenceman in the league. period. and i despise the flyers. they always seem to be the team to eliminate us from the playoffs, but tampa kicked their asses good which makes me feel a little better.

I was always more of a Rob Blake fan, even before he moved over to my beloved Avs. I think that if the NHL doesn't hurry up and get the door unlocked, all of our team will have to retire, leaving our veterans at around age 27. Not a good system, if you ask me.

yeah i know what you mean. over here in toronto most of our team is old fogeys. we gotta get the league going again before they all die! detroit has the oldest average age, then us. but at least we have good veterans unlike ken danyko. hes been in the league so long. what has that guy ever acomplished?

HAHAHAHAI laugh at you and your teams of old men. Note I am a fan of the Red Wings. My Anaheim Ducks and Sanhose Sharks will be much better equipped when they start hockey up again.

I am not sure If I mentiod the Phoenix cyotes as my favorite team when I joined bu with thier recent aquiring of some good players they are right at my number four spot in faves
