My Fly-guys really need to pick it their play. Forsberg is still hurting and so is goaltender Robert Esche (which oddly enough helps me out fantasy-wise). They lost their first shootout to Nashville Saturday night. It doesn't get any easier with Calgary coming in tomorrow night. They have to right the ship soon or else the injuries and the amount of road games in the next month or so will really come back to haunt them later on.

I love this.
My team is finally a contender. I've always been a proud flames fan but now that we're actually considered by many (Minus most Canucks fans) to be Playoff contenders I have even more reason to be proud.

It was great seeing Calgary 3rd in the Confrence and first in the Northwest yesterday and it's still great seeing them only one point away from first in NE.

Flames... I <3 You.

BTW which division do you guys think is stronger? NE or NW?

Well, a lot of the divisions are REALLY close. I love the new NHL, even more than the old NHL. One thing could make this perfect... Gretzky making a comeback

The Northwest is probably the most competitive, as all 5 teams can be seen as playoff competitiors. I still don't think the penguins will make it to the playoffs this year. (sorry, all you pens fans)

Yes no kidding ! I have been saying that for years. No wait I am have been thinking that for years. Anyways I would love to see #99 racing down the ice on a break away.
I would also love to see him fight but we have as much chance as the Canucks winning the super bowl then to see #99 scrapping

I recorded his last game, which they broadcast on five (the worst channel for Ice Hockey coverage ever) NYR Vs Pittsburgh. Pengins won 2-1 in overtime and Jagr got the winner (oh how times have changed.

Anyway, at the end of the game, they showed a montage of Gretzky stuff, including one sequence of him standing next to another player, separated from him by the linesman and unexpectedly, Gretzky just smacked the player in the face, a bunched fist inside a glove.

I love the fact that he's the great one, but he still did stuff like that.

Oh yes that is right. I remember that. I have that highlight on one of my hockey videos.
I think it is Don Cherry's rock 'em sock 'em series.

Obviously we all know who the contenders for the cup are going to be this year. Ottawa and Detroit or some other team from the west. Well anyways go sabres.

I think Ottawa can be defeated. The 'Canes seemed to have solved them, winning 2 of the 3 games they've played this year. I think the key is to be aggressive, if you try and play defense on them their sheer offensive force will crush you. Hasek is older now, and while he's still a good goalie, he can't have the endurance that he once did.

I think once Ottawa makes it's trek through the NW they'll be in for a tought ride... Especially Calgay which makes teams play there style...

God I can't wait till December 10th. Although I wish we where playing a fresh Ottawa team and not one that just played the Canucks.

Sloppy game tongiht for the flames which cost them a SO loss to philly after being scoreless in regulation.

I hate the shoot-out.

It may have been a bit sloppy at times, but I thought it was basically a great defensive/goaltending battle. The Flames just happened to come out on the short side.

I hate the shoot-out.

I felt the same way Saturday night, but obviously I was happy with the outcome in this game. So that makes me 50-50 on the issue I guess. I wonder how they hand out the fantasy points for that game. Richards Shootout goal was the only puck to enter the net so is that a goal, a game winning goal or what? It may not even be that because the Shootout winner only gets the winning point in both score and standings-wise, but there could be multiple shoot-out goals scored. Meh, I don't know or care because I had Nittymaki in goal that game, so that's 5 pts right there.

On a slightly related note, Daymond Langkow plays for the Flames and I heard he wishes his name to be pronounced /LANG-koh/ instead of the oft used /LANG-kow/. They always pronounced his name "kow" when he was in the East, but I want to know how do you pronounce his name and how do you usually hear his name pronounced, both by the Flames usual announcers and the national ones as well?

But Hasek is doing a good job of helping the Sens groom Ray Emery for full time duty when he finally retires.

I think they've got it set for a few years up at the sharp end of the NHL.

I wonder if hockey cards are worth money anymore ? I used to own like $4,000 worth of mint rookie cards but now they have all decreased in value I am sure.
I have Lemiuex rookie card, Ray Borque, Brett Hull, Patrick Roy, Joe Sakic,
Grettzky 2nd year card, Cam Neely rookie card. . . . and count less others.
I should sell them on e-bay

The Gretzky card should be worth a bit, plus the cards for the hall of famers. Save mario's card until he's retired for good, that's the jewel of your crown

I should sell them on e-bay

Well, give some of them a try

wow, the ducks got blown out by carolina, and was predicting to some of my buddies that that was going to happen.

Because, first, they blew out phoenix 6-1

phoenix bounces back and rapes Carolina 8-4

and in the past, carolina has been able to rebound against crushing defeats pretty well

Carolina bounced back and trounced the ducks 6-2

oh well, it was still an impressive homestand.

Don't get down about one loss. There's still plenty more games to go, though one loss could be the difference between playoffs and golf.

It doesn't matter who you are, if you have a shitty game you should be pulled.

Well, I'd pull a goalie after four goals on five shots, but how quickly were they scored? if it was only 5 shots in the first 2 periods, then maybe I'd be willing to let him carry on. Though this is the 1st period and therefore, he should ahve been pulled, to give the team a little kick in the arse.

That seem to be the great unanswered question, Who will Canada have backing them up in net ? I still think Luongo. After him than I guess Joesph.
Anyways like always Canada will kick all the other peoples asses and we will celebrate. We are the true world hockey super power.

Why not manny fernandez? He has a league best save percentage, and is only second to Hasek in GAA.

I think Luongo should start, with Fernandez on the bench. Both are proven goalies and Marty Brodeur is struggling to come to terms with an AVERAGE defence. When you take away the neutral zone trap (and Scott Stevens), the Devils aren't such a defensive superpower any more.

Wow, the wild punished the penguins, though that isn't saying much.

New York snapped the predators' power play goal streak in a big win. Jagr seems to being playing well with fellow Czech player Petr Prucha. Jagr took over the lead in points with a goal and two assists while Prucha and Rucchin lit the lamp in a 5-1 win.

By the way, Kieth Tkachuk is really making up for lost time, he's got 5 goals and 11 points in five games since returning from his injury. Although, he doesn't really have anyone on his team to share all those points with.

The Ducks lost to the red hot sabres. Surprisingly, they gave Jiggy the start, even with Bryzgalov's spectacular play as of late. Excluding that blemish against the 'Canes, in which Jiggy also gave up three goals. Seems they picked right, as he made 28 stops in a losing effort which easily could have been much more embarrassing. Lupul picked up a goal and an assist..
