It was a surprisngly low-scoring game between the Thrashers and Ducks tonight, with only three goals between the two teams. Selanne's goal scoring streak ended, but McDonald's point streak continued as he netted the game winning power play game. the Ducks' goalie Ilya Bryzgaloz put on another great performance, stopping 20 of 21 shots, including a point bank attempt from Jiri Slegr.
Another battle between two of the best rookies in the league turned out to be a split decision, with Calgary getting the win, and Phaneuf not scoring, while Pittsburg was handed a loss and Sid the Kid netted a goal.
The other rookie, Alexander the Great, put on an impressive display against the rangers, putting up a goal and four points on the night.
The Desert Dogs responded to their trouncing at the hands of Anahiem by whooping the Huricanes. Nagy got a hat trick and two assists.
For the second time as a Shark, Joe Thorton hit the post on his first shift. They would go down early, but rally back to win their second straight since the trade.
Boston was also victorious, picking up an OT win against Edmonton in a highscoring affair. Boyes tickled the twine twice and picked up an assist.
Those were all the games I managed to catch a few minutes of, and there was plenty more hockey action to be seen.
By the by, I'm sure all of you have seen Malik's incredible shootout goal, but what's interesting is that it shouldn't have been ruled as a goal, since the puck's forward progress stopped when he slid it between his legs, and the rules state that play is dead when the puck's forward progress ends.
