All I can say about this is...wow. I sure as hell did not see this one coming. I don't understand how Boston can trade away their franchise player like that. I mean, the captain and the face of the team since the 1997 draft. He was also their best player Clearly, the trade was one sided, San Jose got the better deal out of the two teams. I'm not saying the players heading to Boston are bad, they're good players, but San Jose is getting one hell of a player in Joe Thornton.

In conclusion,
San Jose = good move
Boston = bad move

I used to be with it. Then they changed what it was.

Now what I'm with isn't it and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

It'll happen to you!

Boston gives away their one and only star player, 33 points this season. The crowds are going to be even worse for boston.

Better for the Bruins.

I can't see the logic in paying three really good players for one great player. Not even if this were a trade for Gretzky in his prime, would I say that it's good maths to trade 3 good players away in exchange for only 1.

I would say that the Bruins came out on top in this trade. They aquired 3 good players and the Sharks got one super star. I would rather have 3 good players than one top notch player. But now the Bruins fans might run away. . well they still got the Soxs or the Celtics or the Pats.

I think that they will stay to support the team. Especially now that these three players will be more productive combined in comparrison to Joe Thornton on his own.

I like to see team loyalty. I think that is rare these days. Not many players can say they played their whole carrer with one team.
Also for me if my favorite player keeps on changing teams I keep having to shell out money again for his new jersey. Thats how those guys get you.

True, but you got to remember that Thornton is one guy, and if those three do combine to be more productive than Joe they have to eat up 2 roster spots to do it in. Roster spots that could be used to bring up younger players and have them adjust. But I think this was mainly a move by Boston to make some cap room. Thornton does make more than those 3 combined.

I was pretty shocked as well when I saw this on Sportscenter.

I guess it's for the best. It is a great move for the Sharks so they can spark up their roster a bit and get back into competition. Plus he gets to play with his cousin now

Now that is a line I will be truly afraid of.

What do you guys think? Better than most recent combinations.

And does anyone still play in the fantasy hockey?

I do. My team just isn't doing as hot as it was at the beginning. I was almost always top 5, but now I've been stuck in 9th forever. My players just aren't consistent....and a bunch are starting to get injured now too. I hate the DTDs.

But I have a feeling most people just don't care anymore though.

Ya. You did have a rough start.

Then every time I add somebody else that I think will help my team out, they screw the pooch and don't do shit for me. That's just the way things have been.

You seem to add people when their streak is over, or drop them before their streak begins. Bad luck. Although I'd suggest you pick up a forward instead of keeping an extra defence on the bench. Forwards usually score more, and there's nothing much leftover in the defense department. If your forwards are pretty scattered throughout the conference, you usually won't have a problem in terms of having to bench one of them and potentially losing points.

Is it just me, or you've added a lot of people I've dropped? Axelsson, Daigle, Arnason, Dumont...

Flames might have just a made another Kipprusoff like trade.

To Flames:
Kristian Huselius

To Panthers:
Steve Montador
Dustin Johner (prospect)

Huselius lit up the NHL his first 2 seasons scoring 41 goals but then, just like every other player on the panthers, had his confidence and his love of the game worn down by the coaching of Mike Keenen. Last year Huselius did awsome in sweden and I think if we can get his work ethic to be like it was his first two seasons we could get him to play atleast a 20-30 goal season.

Plus we got him for nothing... Steve Montedor was over shadowed by all the great defensive players already on the Flames and just sat in the press box nearly every game... I wish him luck in Florida.

Flames came back from a 2-0 deficet to beat Detroit 3-2! Go Flames Go!

I do, but not as often as I should. I started out Okay, climbed my way up to sixth, now I think I'm 13th or 14th or something. Some injuries are hurting me, as well as the fact that I'm not too deep in the Goaltender department. But like -Gooch-, I tried making moves by picking up some players, and they turned out to be busts. My only hope is if Gagne scores 150 goals I think.

Problem with fantasy hockey is the way we have it set up you have to constantly check on your team and who's playing and who's not for every player in every game. I do this a few times a week, but since there are a lot more players and games than say in fantasy football (where you only really need to check on weekends) I miss out on things quite often, whether it be a free agent, or forget to start someone. I think there should be an option in fantasy hockey where if there are players that aren't playing they should automatically benched for those who are.

In my leave the ducks slid into a horrific slump, but the first game I catch they won a gritty game against the desert dogs.

I've since watched every one of their games and they've won 4 of the last five and raped Phoenix 6-1.

This saturday the high scoring thrashers are coming off of a shut out and the ducks are coming off a huge win.

It'll be interesting.

I used to feel that way, but I'd like to think that I can finish higher in the league with my constant tweaking than someone who drafted the team and suddenly stops playing

Well, none of the expansion teams are acting like expansion teams any more. Even the Blue Jackets got in on the act, with the signing of Adam Foote and now they've played as well as Minnesota and Atlanta.

Kozlov netted the shootout winner against the Wild.

There was a bit of controversy as Mogilny's shot was caught in between Fernandez's glove and pad. Fearing droping the puck, fernandez held and ended up sliding into the back of the net.

They called it as a no goal since play was dead. The Devil's ended up not needing that goal anyway, because minnesota was unable to netone during the shootout.

Also, it seems that the Ducks' GM is looking to move petr sykora. His cannon on the power play will be missed, but I can only wonder who they'll get if they do indeed trade him.

The Caps game was probably the best hockey game i've ever seen... It was such and aggressive game (several fights) they were hitting sooo hard in the begining it was amazing... Ovechkin is just incredible and Olie played amazing... The Caps looked so different (like they played much different) vs all the other games they've played in...

Btw i think the booing of players is just stupid and really mean/ rude... Whenever Jager got the puck he was booed and it just pissed me off that people are have that little respect... O well, it was an amazing game...

Thanks nightmareLeecher for the sig.

wowie, it looks like the Thorton deal worked out for both teams. Since the trade, they have a combined record of 4-0.

Anahiem continued to streak, adding their fifth win in six game and fourth in a row. It was a surprisngly low-scoring game between the Thrashers and Ducks tonight, with only three goals between the two teams. Selanne's goal scoring streak ended, but McDonald's point streak continued as he netted the game winning power play game. the Ducks' goalie Ilya Bryzgaloz put on another great performance, stopping 20 of 21 shots, including a point bank attempt from Jiri Slegr.

Another battle between two of the best rookies in the league turned out to be a split decision, with Calgary getting the win, and Phaneuf not scoring, while Pittsburg was handed a loss and Sid the Kid netted a goal.

The other rookie, Alexander the Great, put on an impressive display against the rangers, putting up a goal and four points on the night.

The Desert Dogs responded to their trouncing at the hands of Anahiem by whooping the Huricanes. Nagy got a hat trick and two assists.

For the second time as a Shark, Joe Thorton hit the post on his first shift. They would go down early, but rally back to win their second straight since the trade.

Boston was also victorious, picking up an OT win against Edmonton in a highscoring affair. Boyes tickled the twine twice and picked up an assist.

Those were all the games I managed to catch a few minutes of, and there was plenty more hockey action to be seen.

By the by, I'm sure all of you have seen Malik's incredible shootout goal, but what's interesting is that it shouldn't have been ruled as a goal, since the puck's forward progress stopped when he slid it between his legs, and the rules state that play is dead when the puck's forward progress ends.

Really? That's quite fascinating.

Actually, I don't know if you can consider that as ceased forward progress. It techincally is still going foward as Malik puts it in between his legs.

Well either way, it was still one hell of a goal.

Yeah, I saw it during an intermission during one of the several games I caught tonight, they had replays and everything. When he slid it threw is legs it moved back a bit. It won't be revoked, but a suggestion was to change the rule to the Player's forward progress stopping, rather than the puck's.

Great to see my team win two in a row after losing ten straight. Joe Thornton's really starting to set his mark early. I'm glad to see it happen. It's time for San Jose to make their run and start chopping down the teams in front of them to prove that 2003-04's run was no fluke.

Yeah, that was an impressive comeback against Toronto. But their division is pretty tough this year. And their closet divisional rival, anahiem, is riding a hot streak on the wings of Bryzgalov who has held four teams in a row to just one goal.

And not just pushover teams, they took out Western Conference leader Detroit, the Highscoring Thrashers, The Hawks, and an impressive 6-1 win over phoenix, which was the first time that they've lost by more than 2 goals this year.

Although, now that I've moved up north a bit, the sharks are now my closest team. But I've always enjoyed the sharks so it'll be nice to see them in person every so often.

It's especially good that one of Calgary's goals wasn't a goal at all, or you might've been looking at 3 less points. I imagine that pittsburg is enraged that the video review was not sent to the boys in Toronto before the next faceoff. That was two potential points that they desperatley needed.

Hey, did anyone see that Oiler goal by Pisani? The one where he basically SLIDES into the goal and they got the point?

Can someone please explain to me WHY THAT WAS A GOAL? I'm glad the Oilers won, but I thought it was obvious that the puck wouldn't have gone in if Pisani hadn't bascially slipped and kicked it in.

It was a goal.

- If you watch the replay you'll see that the puck goes of the crossbar and bounces behind the line.
- The reff and the goal judge where both sure it was a goal and they where both positioned behind the net.

And if anyone deserves to score a non-goal it's Calgary. Game 6 Stanley Cup Finlas anyone?

I think it was a goal because he was knocked down by an opposing player.

Kind of like how it isn't goalie interference if you get shoved into him.
