Honestly, the only thing they complained about was shitty customers and the occasional shitty boss which, quite frankly, I am used to. Better yet, I have had to live with that shitty person you have to work with. Not only that, I'm stuck with effing some of the shittiest kids ever. I had a kid in my group that cried when he didn't get something he wanted, or how about the kid who actually started to beat the shit out of other kids and tried to take me on (look at it this way; a 6'2, 270 pound, athletic 17 year old kid pulls a 10 year old off a 9 year old and the 10 year old threatens to kick my ass and proceeds to try). Plus, I've actually had to deal with the douchebag parents too.

Then again, you get to meet the awesome ones too, like the one Indian guy who spent an entire lunch and dinner talking with me about programming and then gave me a 32" computer screen for free. There was also this one kid who had gone to anime conventions, agreed that Inuyasha sucked, and looked up to half the staff because we liked anime.

As far as I can tell, I've been fucking conditioned for this job for 4 summers.

I stopped posting there cause its too nicey nice.. nobody ever gives you actual constructive criticism or flat out negativity if they dont like it... no matter what anyone does everyone loves it... i felt i could never grow as an artist there so i never went back.. sheezy was sort of like that also... although in sheezy i did like that it wasnt as gigantic as DA and i was able to get the username luis and all my other friends had their familiarones as well... but fuck that place, im happy here now that ng made the userpages.. eventually itll house illustration submissions to your userpage and itll be my one stop shop..

The little time I've spent on DA was enough for me to see this too, people there always seems to look after hidden, deep meanings in everything that they can praise.. it doesn't matter if it's a stick figure made in half a minute in MSPaint, they still do it (slight exaggeration maybe, but you get my point).

I also find people there are too nice. I hit the check box asking for criticism, and I get people saying "great job, 5/5". Really, for an art site I would ask for a bit more than "yayzors". Maybe I need to post into the porn sections more often.

I wish my dad cared, but at the same time, i don't because some might contain the "fuck" word or "cock" sometimes, (working on a tankmen flash, what do you expect) so, I am some what happy he isn't over my shoulder watching the flash I do.

I don't do flash for the money, it's just a very nice bonus. Altogether I have earned a couple of thousand dollars this year, but school was pretty hard the spring term, so about the first half of this year I have been to busy to make flash..

There are people who can make a living out of making Flash games by the help of sponsorships, but often they just make small games that will still earn them a few hundred bucks as it's more profitable making lots of small games instead of few larger ones. I wouldn't be able to do this though, I'm doing flash because it's fun, and if that were to change and I would do it for the money I would quickly lose my motivation, resulting in either crappy games or maybe even none at all.

So what I'm trying to say is, don't make flash just for the money :P

Before I got a PayPal for my own I borrowed my mum's. If any of your parents have Visa or similar I don't think it should be any problems, but if you're just starting to learn AS then you probably still have a while before you need to think of that ;)

Practise makes perfect. Also if you have a helpful AS'er on msn it helps you to get round things. I wouldn't be much help though. I would still call myself amateur.

My parents know that I make flash games, and movies, and they know that I've made money doing it, which is nice because they don't bother me about getting a job, they'll say that my brother needs to get a job, but not me, and they don't know exactly what I do or how it all works so they just let it alone, it's a good deal, and I've showed them my stuff. They don't really know about newgrounds though... like most parents they're a little oblivious to the interwebs.

My parents like to show my website to people and stuff which is one of the reasons I didn't put the redesign collab or the sketchbook tour on my site (mostly the redesign tour... I didn't put the sketchbook tour on cause it's more of a newgrounds thing than anything).

Well... somewhat. I mean, I kinda had to explain some things to them earlier this year when I job shadowed Tom (an I made a chestbursters shirt :X) and I occasionally have them watch my movies.

Generally, my mom has the same twisted sense of humour I have, but when I was making my Tankmen part last year, she was a bit skeptical about the who shenanigan. I mean, The exact frase was "I'm a big faggot."

So yeah, I just found out that one of my best friends is straight up gay. I've known him for years, and honestly, I never would have guessed. I mean, all the girls play into his hands, he could get so much poon. He's smart, has good looks, he's nice, and he's somewhat athletic. And he still flirts with girls because he thinks it's funny. My mother knows what I'm into, she's seen some of my movies and art and whatever, she even tells other people about it, which I don't really like. I'd rather just be an anonymous, undefined figure on the internet with a few fans, and have control over the way people percieve me.

As for my father; I couldn't care less what he thinks or if he's seen any of it or anything, really. Haven't seen or spoken to him in years which suits me just fine. =]
