Nu-Metal is a very broad range of music, most of the time it's based off of the saying rapcore, which combines rap-like sounds and DJing with metal guitar...
Linkin Park was dubbed Nu-metal by magazines and MTV, I fnd it way more bland and uneventful as other bands like NothingFace, Slipknot and KoRn... KoRn and Slipknot are both considered because of their guitar riffs and heavy usage of rap sounds, especially Slipknot, with DJ Sid and Sampler Craig...
Nu-metal is a very confusing genre where no band is a poster-boy/band for it because of the broad range (MuDvAyNe is considered Nu-metal)

Thank you very much. It's much more clear now. Anyway is System Of A Down nu metal? I heard that they are but they have very little in common with any nu metal band. In fact their music is basicly folk nusic from Causcas (sp) with distortion.

If words were wisdom, I'd be talking even more.

Indeed.

I consider LP as "Crap-Nu-Pop-Rock" ;)

KoRn and Slipknot are both considered because of their guitar riffs and heavy usage of rap sounds, especially Slipknot, with DJ Sid and Sampler Craig...

Korn actually founded nu-metal. They were on a good path when they started, you can see what came out of it....

Nu-metal is a very confusing genre where no band is a poster-boy/band for it because of the broad range (MuDvAyNe is considered Nu-metal)

My definition of Nu:

Nu Metal is music witch has in most cases heavily distorted and tuned-down guitars, there are NO solos in their songs. Their singer either rap or sing with clean vocals, mixed with some screams here and there.

That definition, though describes most Nu-Metal, it does not describe all, as Slipknot have used grindcore like screams, rap, whispering, singing... and have solos in some songs, especially Vermillion which is damn kick ass, so Slipknot is pretty much a genre buster

SOaD is Nu because otherwise it has no genre, being that it has different typesof music from ethnic, folk, metal, hard-rock and funk...

anyone have any band name ideas, I just love hearing ideas for band names:
A Darker Breed
StoneFly
Nothing
The Fallen
Necromorte

I can't think of anymore right now

Indeed. I never considered Slipknot as pure nu. It's just...something different, and yes, I heard a few songs from their new album, and I heard SOLOS :P Even if short. I still don't like them much.

It's Nu with many influences, yes. Sometimes I see them considered as "Nu-Industrial".

How about these grindcorish names:

Voilent anal fist fuck
Bloody Marry

All out of ideas for now.

Well I just like defining SOaD. They created a new type of music and that's it. As I've said the different sub genres were defined too long ago to aply to many modern bands.

Even in their first CD? They made some good, you have to give them credit for that! ;)

I've been reading the book "Lords of Chaos", as of late.

For those of you who don't know what this book is, proceed to immediately slap yourself. It details the rise of the Norwegian black metal scene, more specifically focusing in on people like Dead, Euronymous, Samoth, Varg, etc...
It's a little inaccurate from what I've heard, but then again, who really knows the TRUE story behind the scene, other than those who were directly involved?

It's a good read, if you like BM and, well, reading. Haha.

Hi guys! I'm trying to revive Vomitorys old Crew, (The KoRn Crew ) So I would like to ask if all of the members here that are KoRn fans could help me by joining or re-joining.

I'm also looking for people to help join me by making a KoRn Kouncil (the leaders of the crew).

Thanks alot guys, and thanks alot to Vomitory for starting both this Crew and the KoRn Crew!

Just on Nu-Metal.

Best Nu-Metal is Spineshank or Ill Ninos first album (i really dont like their second >:( ]

I think i'm becoming more akin to the hardcore / deathcore scene since im really enjoying the latest Shadowsfall, plus being a fan of Heaven Shall Burn and KsE.

Oh. Your. God.

I'm sorry to tell you that there won't be many korn fans in this crew. I was one, but that was already a longer time ago.

I'm also looking for people to help join me by making a KoRn Kouncil (the leaders of the crew).

Good luck :)

Thanks alot guys, and thanks alot to Vomitory for starting both this Crew and the KoRn Crew!

Yeah, no problem, but I suggest to hang out here too :) we can show you great metal you have never heard before, and korn will disappear from your mind ;) Think about it.

I listen to both Taproot and Billy Talent, I just like KoRn the best. Are you guys trying to say that they are inferiour (fuk i cant spell lol) to all other bands. What's wrong with me liking them? I listen to alot and I mean ALOT of bands. I like all sorts of stuff! I flisten ot KoRn not just because I think they sound the best, but because I can really connect to the lyrics and I can only do that with a few other bands. Sorry if you guys weren't tryin to get on my case, but I just felt that you were.

Anyways....... Is Alice Cooper considered Metal or Rock?

I second the vote for Good Charolette. When I first saw a pic of them (before I heard them) I thought, cool a new rock band!!! But i was highly dissapointed when I heard them.

How do you guys feel about, The Darkness?

Response to Metal Hell 2004-08-25 13:30:43

THE DARKNESS PLAYED IN PETERBOROUGH IN ENGLAND AND I SAW THEM BEFORE THEY BECAME FAMOUS... other than that there not really that bad...

and yes i forgot about good charlotte, i cant beleive they think if they dress like that they can be passed off as rock, i hope they get arse raped by large sized gorrilas...... oh wait, there'd probably enjoy that...
