On Sunday I attended my first show in a while seeing Deicide in Toronto. While the concert was awesome, the most surprising thing was that those Loop earplugs work a treat and my hearing wasn't fuzzy for a day afterwards.
I used to be with it. Then they changed what it was.
Now what I'm with isn't it and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

We might now (finally) for actually real this time might have someone who's going to record our stuff for us. It only took 700 years and a lot of unnecessary headaches and poor communication and people no being able to record and yadda yadda.
Also had a show this past Saturday and it went okay I guess. We didn't practice enough and the two "spooky" songs we covered that we shoved in our set didn't turn out all that great. We dressed like members of Mystery Inc. and my sister brought her hearse.

Sounds weirdly satisfying, though. What covers did you play and why didn't they work out?
I remember having band members that never learned the stuff I wrote for us which became a grating affair quickly.

Well I hope so. We've been legitimately waiting for nearly 2 years now to actually get stuff recorded and in that time our number of songs almost doubled and I've held back bringing a lot of song ideas because I want to get things recorded before I bring in more songs.

We did Black No. 1 and Human Fly. We changed how we were approaching Black No. 1 multiple times because we didn't want to do the entire 11+ minute song but it felt like no one was completely on the same page as to how it was getting covered. And Human Fly.. being honest here. I don't listen to The Cramps that much and didn't even know the song before our drummer decided we were covering that instead of Spellbound by Siouxsie and the Banshees since it felt like no one wanted to commit to learning that.

Yeah it's not fun. Thankfully that's mostly happened for us when it comes to covers since whenever the idea of throwing a cover in our set comes up I either: never get asked what I want to cover or no one seems to have any desire to learn the songs I suggest.
I swear I'm going to lose my shit here with this whole recording stuff.
We were down to have our stuff done in December but now our drummer's gf, who is in a band of her own, is getting mad about her own band's stuff being recorded and now that's all up in the air again. She's having problems of her own with her band because she's been sitting on having material recorded but not able to release it for longer than we've been waiting to get stuff recorded. Something about her butting heads with their bassist because she's being weird about getting their stuff finalized and ready to release anywhere and being a problem or something. I don't know all the details. But now I don't know if we're even recording stuff now so I don't even know what's going on anymore.. 😒

Well we still haven't recorded anything. We were going to record on I think the 14th but that got pushed back by another week and thats the last thing I heard.

Okay. So tentatively it's still next Saturday. I'm getting my main guitar looked at in the meantime because the truss rod needed to get looked at and I'll have that back by then. I don't have the tools to work on it myself and I'd rather take it to someone I know who works on guitars for a living than potentially make it worse.

I'd have done the same. I don't want to fumble around with truss rods too much because you can fuck it up pretty easily, at least from my own experience ^^

So - how did things turn out?
Strings are a little jangly on it but otherwise no issues with the guitar now.
We finally got everything recorded. Got 7 songs done in about as many hours. Though we haven't done any mixing to what got recorded yet.
We still have I think 5 songs we didn't record because we didn't want to sit around recording all day and need to work on a few other songs
