I'm dying of laughter! A noob who likes Linkin Park just started a anti metal crew! Just thinking of what shall probably happen to this crew makes me laugh!

Thanx guys... I rarely check in here, but when it comes to knowing what's going on with Metal, you guys are always tops.
This is a song about death. It's on mandolin.
Hate is the first step to all solutions.
You will not end bigotry until you learn to hate it.
Hey guys! I'm back from Slovenia, it rocked, but the weather was so damn shitty, it rained for about 9 hours in two days, I wasn't able to see all bands, that sucked :(
Okay, here's a summary of what I saw. There were two stages, the big main stage and a little stage on the beach for less known bands, I'm going to list them seperately:
Main Stage:
SENTENCED
They were pretty good, nice stage performance, good sound, I didn't know them well before, but it looks like I should get a little more into them.
HYPOCRISY
OMG that was one of the best bands I have ever seen in my life. When they played "Eraser" from their new album, the crowd almost exploded in one big mosh-pit, perfect sound, awesome stage performance and effects, absolutely great.
FLESHCRAWL
Didn't see much of them, but it did sound like a mix of Cannibal Corpse and Vomitory, just not as good.
DEW-SCENTED
Not bad. They sound a little like Slayer, but for sure not worse, but after a while they got quite boring.
KATATONIA
I was going to fall asleep. They were so boring. They didn't have something called "Stage Performance". Their singer just stood there and punched his haunch a little. The guitarists didn't do more than standing around either. They only played their new "Doom" stuff, which sounds like HIM.
DESTRUCTION
That was a surprise, I didn't like them when I saw them on TV at home, but they were killer live, even after 20 years of existance. They made us headbang with songs like "The Ravenous Beast" or "Metal Discharge".
PRIMAL FEAR
Well, they did have a good show, but I was expecting something else, not hair-metal. Their singer was horrible. Sound not good either.
APOCALYPTICA
My brother asked me before this concert: "How can a band without a singer heat up a crowd"? Well, his question was answered after the first song. 4 guys, with 3 chellos and one drumset, played Metallica and Sepultura covers, then their own songs, they had the best stage performance, an awesome sound and the bass made my lungs almost collapse. JUST AWESOME.
PROSPECT
Awesome guitars and drums, but their singer ruined it :( But the song passages without the singer were totally awesome. Nice.
Beach Stage:
FETISHA(from Slovenia)
Gothic band, lame stage performance, boring sound.
PROFOUND(from Austria)
Good band, their singer looked like Björn from Soilwork, and they were very good melodic black metal with some goth influences. Good stuff.
EVOCATION(from Austria)
Best beach stage band I saw. Sounded like a mix of In Flames and Dark Tranquillity. Very professional sounding music, very melodic and with a great feeling. Headbanging was guranteed :)
SCAFFOLD(from Slovenia)
Also a very good brutal death band. I have never seen a singer with such an awesome headbang style like this before. Powerful growls, sounded like a mix between Amon Amarth and Cannibal Corpse.
Well, here's the sad news:
DARK FUNERAL was cancelled :(
I wasn't able to see Finntroll, Belphegor and Vintersorg. There were huge play delays because of the weather, and I'm not even sure if they even played.
It was still totally great :)
Glad you had a great time! It's a shame you didn't get to see Vintersorg, though. I was looking forward to pestering you about how they were. :P

Yay, the Metalist is coming so close! It's held this thursday! I can barely wait! Damn them, they didn't brign good bands from abraod but anyway every metal head in the country is coming and just the sight of allthose guys wearing black is worth the money.
ok... question, which of the Ozzfest years would you have loved to go to
me, I would have to say 2001, Slipknot just burst onto the main with IOWA, MuDvAyNe kickstarted with L.D. 50 and many indie bands had made it on...
not to mention Black Sabbath was back together on that year...
At 8/23/04 02:11 AM, ADarkerBreed wrote: ok... question, which of the Ozzfest years would you have loved to go to
I'd go to 2000. Pantera put on a kick ass show that year. It was one of the best concerts I've ever seen.
Pantera does any show good, I think they were on 2001 also...
Well, i just went round driving in my ute (1973 model holden, love it) and i gotta say, Soilwork is some of the best driving music i know. Never really appreciated the Figure Number Five album too much until today.
Oh yeah, and by the way, Heaven Shall Burn are pretty kick ass now i focus more on the music, but seriously, it would be WAY better if the distortion wasnt so low pitch, and the singer didnt always sound the same. If i ever get in a band, i'll definetly cover their stuff, and change those couple of things... It shall prove that they kick ass.
Oh, and as for favorite CoB song, itd have to be Warheart, Lake Bodom, Children of Bodom, Angels Don't Kill (for those pansy moments) or Needled 24/7 (that song gets me pumped up majorly)
Also, i still dont get the deal with At The Gates, i've got Slaughter of the Soul, and i'm just not finding it appealing at all.
Oh. Your. God.
Awesome Driving Songs, by ADB -
NothingFace - Beneath
Slipknot - Left Behind (good fro walking in crowded places to, the beginning riff works well)
CoB - Needled 24/7
SoilWork - As We Speak

Yeah, Pantera's sound is always good. Just look at monsters of rock 1991. They were a pretty new band and still they managed to give an awesome performance with a great sound quality despite thier lack of expirience when it comes to such huge crowds. They knew how to pick sound men well or something.
Speaking of Pantera, whats everyones fav album
I'd have to say Vulgar Display of Power for me, I love all the songs and it opened me up to them and a harder metal than Metallica (I was nine when I first heard it)
My friend James drives me and my friend Wesley home from school everyday. We usually blare one of the following bands:
Children of Bodom (all of their CDs work well for speeding :P)
Slayer (specifically Reign in Blood)
Immortal
Mayhem
Amon Amarth
DARK FUCKING ANGEL \m/
and/or Iced Earth.
Of course that isn't the whole list; just what it's been for the past few days. :P
RAINING BLOOD FROM A LACERATED SKY!!!
fuck I love that song

Pretty damn good one that... although i dont really like the start of it... but when it gets there... fuckin love it.
Oh. Your. God.
Favorite Pantera album, ey? I'd have to say Cowboys From Hell. It's just a great album. Considering that it's their first (not including the ones with the other vocalist) it even better.

Yeah, it's a classic.

I love the beginig. The quiet part just tells you right away which song that is. By the way, do you know from which classic master piece they took the begginig (right after the drumming gets intense)?
Hey guys what's going on. I'm just getting in to the swing of things here at NG and well I finally created an account and I'm starting to review flash toons and stuff like that. Anyway It realy wouldn't be enough to just review crap all day long so I thought I'd join you guys cause.... well obviously I love metal. I'm into everything from really old school thrash like Slayer, and Metallica. I also venture into a little bit of (not to offend anyone) "Classic Metal," LIke you know ... thouse miscillaneous hairbands. I reall dig the Norther European stuff though like Celtic Frost, Mayhem, and Emperor. I love grunge stuff (not that many consider it metal). Not a lot of Nirvana stuff or anything just Smashing Pumpkins and Stone Temple Pilots. I've only recently gotten into New Metal stuff like Disturbed, Orgy, Manson, Static X, etc. The bands I'm paying attention to the most at the moment are Mudvayne, Slipknot, and Cradle of Filth. More importantly I'm hoping to start a band up here in Alaska sometime in the near future. I hope to hear from you guys E-mail or otherwise

By the way Manson isn't metal, not even nu metal. He's just a freak.

Ok, im guessing the version i have on my computer is screwy then, as it starts off with a blast of metal and lyrics for about a minute and a bit, then goes quiet and gets to the kick ass bit of the song.
Oh, and kick ass driving music => Bile - Prime Time Loser
Love that beat.
Oh. Your. God.

Yeah, that version cirsles the net a lot. You can check the lyrics for the song out, they start after the quiet part.

Never heard of that.

I hate it. Kidding. I have no idea what you're talking about.

Well, if you want to get into more bands, I suggest you Soilwork, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity and Amon Amarth. Just to name a few.
Welcome aboard, have fun :)
NP: Amon Amarth - Masters Of War
what an amazing song :)

eh... it's industrial metal, more industrial though, but out of a genre...

And a bit of Nu-metal to give him a broad range
At 8/24/04 11:14 AM, ADarkerBreed wrote: And a bit of Nu-metal to give him a broad range
That's your job :) I can't name any nu metal band at the moment...since I know only a few acceptable songs from that genre.
heh, I have a job.
Good Nu-metal bands, Switched (Sw1tched), Flaw, Disturbed's older stuff, SLipknot is always good (but their first two but MFKR was pretty good), KoRn's newer stuff is harder, but their older stuff is more diverse...
So there is your daily dose of Nu-Metal, any questions?

Yeah. Why is Slipknot considered nu metal? It sounds nothing like Korn or Linkin Park.
