I was just wondering, what is the defenition of hair bands? I roughly know what a hair band is but I can't define it.
Hair bands were from about 1981 to 1992. They specialized in hard, kick ass rock and roll. They had long hair. They wore makeup. Basically, the music is all about great times, bangin' broads, drinkin' alot, fighting, destroying things, drugs, being happy. It was a happy time. The main audience was supposed to be for the chicks, but the music actually kicked ass, so it appeals to every rocker. I, personally, find it to be the best era of rock. Next to the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin of course, they are the fathers, but it got better with hair bands, and then Nirvana and all that dreary, "I want to die, depressed" bullshit called grunge came onto the scene and put hair bands off for a while. Now, the biggest thing is, grunge didn't kill hair bands, hair bands were getting really burned out by tours, rockin' hard and drugs, group members gettin' sick of each other, so they had to take a break. Go figure. But after all the grunge, alternative crap passed, the hair bands started to come back and tour again. It's great to see them do this. You can't say that about grunge, they can't come back at all, because it is so dead. But hair bands are still around, kickin' ass, still, and will be for a long time. There are alot of loyal fans of hair bands that will always keep it alive. Just look at Dee Snider's The House Of Hair. Thank God for it. You can catch it on sunday mornings at 10 a.m. Detroit time on the listen live feature at www.wrif.com Anyways, there hasn't been anything as good as hair bands since hair bands, and I'm still waiting. But those times were great and will never be forgot.
