oh hey guys i'm back. i hope you all missed me (but who am i kidding). Rather than ask what went on in like the thirty pages i've missed, i'll just compile a checklist here. Check all that apply:

Did a new guy start a Metalcore/Nu metal rant?
Did a new guy start trouble?
Did Kidd and Ryan and/or Irish get into an argument?
Did someone talk about how Metallica sucks now?
Did someone talk about the new Metallica album?
Did someone talk about the new Dragonforce album?
Did anyone discover any good new bands? (mention the bands plz)
Did someone who doesn't like metal try to join? (who am i kidding, probably twenty did)

anyways, when I was in tahoe, two different dudes commented on my 3 Inches of Blood shirt. The first guy talked to me about Soilent Green, of whom I had heard but not listened (they aren't really my style). The second dude was metal as fuck, with "666" and the devil tattooed on his shoulder and a pentagram necklace on. I thought he was like gonna rape me, but instead he asked if I had seen 3iob in Sacramento (he had seen them there), and he informed me that they were bad (in the positive sense, i.e. "dude they were baaaad.") I also saw a guy with a Katatonia shirt but I didn't talk to him because I was busy and I wasn't very familiar with the band. I also saw a guy twice in San Fransisco. The first day he was wearing a Nile shirt and the second he was wearing a Black Dahlia Murder shirt. I don't really like either, so I didn't talk to him.

And to sum this up, when I was in San Fransisco, I went to the Amoeba Music there (so now I've been to all three). I tried to get Sigh's "Hangman's Hymn" but it wasn't in stock (they only had infidel art, which i'm not interested in, and gallows gallery, which i already have.) Instead, I decided to get Blind Guardian's "Follow the Blind," which is fucking awesome, and Blut Aus Nord's "Odinist," which sucks except for two songs.

the non metal CD's i got were:
Sonic Youth - "Sister"
Beck - "Midnite Vultures"
Porcupine Tree - "On the Sunday of Life..."
Shellac - "Excellent Italian Greyhound"

they're all good CDs (especially sonic youth, that's a fantastic album) except for the blut aus nord. i really regret getting that CD, but my parents paid for it so i guess it's not too bad. I have fifty dollars in itunes gift cards so when I get some disc space I'll use that to get some other good CDs (hangman's hymn, specifically). Also, my friend Robin is supposed to burn me like 12 gigs of music, of which 7 gigs are metal, mainly black and doom.

yeah so whats up

Blut Aus Nord's "Odinist," which sucks except for two songs.

Blut Aus Nord seems to be inconsistent. I have Ultima Thulee and Memoria Vetusta and love them both, but I got another album of theirs and was bored out of my mind so I deleted it.

I know it's good, I just didn't want to get it. I should've though, but my heart was set on Hangman and that was it.

yeah i was really dissappointed. ultima thulee is great (though i can't remember what it sounds like even though i've listened to it many times)

good stuff

Yeah. On the Sunday Of Life... is kind of inconsistent though, since it's more of a collection of songs than an actual album. It's good, but there's 18 tracks and about 2/3rds are just random songs without much structure, or spoken-word type sci-fi tomfoolery.

I've been looking for some non-metal music and found Cabaret Voltaire, which I'm liking.

Excellent. I love Cab. If you don't have them already, get The Crackdown and 2X45

Lucky. I don't have any metal shirts, except for a Master of Puppets one. I don't really care for Morbid Angel, but they have an awesome logo. I'd most likely get a Death, Behemoth, CC, or Opeth shirt.

On the subject of shirts, through them, I have learned that Metal has actually a fairly big fanbase in Ireland. Over the past few weeks, I've seen Metallica, Slayer, Morbid Angel, Lamb of God, Death, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Windir and Machine Head shirts being worn by passers-by.

All I actually only own a Machine Head and a DragonForce shirt. I also have a Trivium 'shirt', but I don't wear it anymore because:
1. They are shit.
2. Obese people really don't look that good in sleeveless shirts.

Hypothermia: white, logo
lifelover: white, pulver (not with the cover of that cd, though. would have been cool:p)
ancient rites: black, pentagram with goatshead, and evil prevails on the back
Herfst: black, logo on some weird drawing
Sabaton: black, logo+a drawing of their heads
Leng tch'e: black, logo + "razor grind"
Amenra: grey, drawing on front, logo on back
Agaloch LS: black, logo on front.
Sonata arctica (pullover): for the sake of revenge on sleeve, wolf on front, frozen guitar on back.
My dying bride: the light at the end of the world tourshirt.
Beatallica: tour shirt from their most recent tour. Bought after seeing them live, while I was rather drunk.

And a shirt from beware the ides of march, a metalcore band, but a friend of me played in it.

I know there is a feature in Nuendo where you press the space bar on each beat in order to determine the BPM.
I don't know if you have Nuendo or not, but its possible there is another program with a similar feature.

Oddly enough, in the midst of this discussion of metal shirts, my High on Fire and Ulver shirts arrived today. Along with those two metal shirts, i've also got a 3 Inches of Blood shirt and an unofficial Dethklok shirt that looks like it was inspired by cannibal corpse album covers.

Also i went to the library today to get CDs to review for English and I got a Dream Theater CD, a Change of Seasons. Mainly I got it because it was the only metal CD i found but also because I heard it was pretty good.
