Reviews for "Pandemic: EoM"

Horrid Sequel

Spending most of your time wasting points to see absolutely nothing happen: not fun.

Worse than the original

I understand that random chance should come into play when you're attempting to infect a population, spread, or contaminate a water supply, but so many times I just click on a specific action and waste 10 points to do one insignificant thing which is subsequently erased after the next turn.

For example, I might increase the infective strength of my virus to give myself a better chance of contamination and migration, but turn after turn I fail to get anything done. Meanwhile, Africa of all places manages to start work on a cure. I finally spread to another country after using up all my points and press "end turn". Of course my infection doesn't last even one day and I'm stuck with 2 credits which can't buy me shit. I know what I must do to win this game, but it's like rolling dice that have 100 sides to them. Because of the frustration this game has caused me (and apparently many others) I'm rating this very poorly.

Horrid.

The previous game was easier. Half the time the first turn i end and i lose the game. Not to mention the time it takes you to have a decent chance to spread your virus is so long you probably will have a cure made before you infect 3 countries. Its true, sequels are worse.

Lives up to the word Pandemic.

While the game play was still based on the original, I found this to be a very nice game. The strategy was still the same: Infect and Kill. Personally, I would have been much happier if it wasn't still kill the human population. Animals need to die also, you know?

A pretty good offshoot.

While I do miss the checklist from the first game, I would like to say that I did have a great deal of fun with this. It was somewhat frustrating at first, but, as an earlier review stated, you have to think like a virus. Increase your infection rate so that you can easily spread from country to country. Do not bother with the airport infection until you are ready to cross an ocean. Once all reachable countries are infected, try to infect as many airports as possible so that you have a maximum chance of hitting Greenland and SE Pacific.

You should also put your drug resistance to ~3 so that if any country is capable of completing a cure, then it will most likely fail when it reaches the population. After this, put everything into lethality and imagine all the mass graves that will have to be dug because of you!

Using this method, I beat this game on my second try. So don't knock this game out of hand just because you can't beat it as easily as you did the first one. You might easily win the game in one try or not get it for 20 due to the randomness but this game is easily winnable.
