Update on the pentalist's progress in the NG FanNet:

49. NG 2x10k+ PENTALIST gfoxcook 27 42

I made sure to check the fannet prior to midnight NG time, hooray! The IN votes for the past several weeks were: 26 27 24 22 18 16 17.

That's now four straight weeks without the PentaList falling out of the top 50. Great job, everyone! It was particularly doing well early-to-midweek, when it was holding its own in the 30s. It may have slipped to #49 by Saturday, but that's to be expected. Better than #51, hidden away on page 2 of the fannet. :::nods:::

Well, I did catch up on everything last weekend... EXCEPT for level up!... and I wanted to do that during the week but didn't find the time and motivation. We'll see if I can do so today! I'll begin in my list topics and go from there. ENJOY THE UPDATE!

Before I start catching up, I should note that for the past couple of hours, I've been having on-and-off-again troubles with loading anything from home.houston.rr.com, so... if you can't get through to the pentalist update, please try again 5 minutes later. It's not completely down or anything, just timeout-prone right now... very very strange.

It seems to be working better for me now (often, I'd get the main update to load, but if I tried to go to any of the archived old updates, they would timeout instead of loading... but now things are loading much smoother). Anyway, the worst seems to be over, but just a warning/explanation in case anyone else is still having problems.

Now when the newbies visit the Wi/Ht? forum asking about levels (like I did when I first arrived) or blam/protect ranks, I can direct them to my sig instead of continuously typing out the formula (makes it easier for me). On April 29th, yes. The events were much discussed by him and myself and others in the top 50 saves list topic, so that's probably what you're thinking of.

As for Saves Queen... I'm pretty sure ramagi has that market cornered. As she'll tell you, as long as she's the highest female in any given stat (be it b/p or blams or saves... and she is indeed the highest in all three), she reigns as Queen. But thanks for thinking of me. O_O

Thats true, but I wouldn't trade even if ~X~ wanted to (which I'm sure he doesn't). Accounts are kind of a personal thing so it wouldn't mean much to me unless I earned them. A few months ago I wrote a review for a game (first one in ages) and the bloody thing was flagged (stolen submission). Put me off reviewing for a spell but I think I'll start up again.

And yes, the problem with a "reviews for saves" trade is that saves don't have accompanying TEXT with them.. like the review and postcounts do. Saves and blams are anonymous and simple. Reviews and posts may contribute points to your total on lists like this one, but they are much more complex and each one holds more data in it than just a "+1" (well, for most people... heh #;-}>).

Plus you wouldn't get a chance to wear those trendy stiletto pumps ^_^

Denvish would beat ANYONE on the list, so don't feel too bad.

His posting was even more insane than ramagi's has been for the past few months. That, plus his insane blams/saves... meant... wow. Just tons of points.

And yep, X's saves progress is great. He got closer to 200 than 100 this past week, but that might have been abnormally high due to Lock Day. I would agree with your "100 per week" target being a good thing for him to shoot for. Then he'll be pentalisted before 2005 ends, yep.

Nice update. When you post your "nearest to the list thing", do you have a cut-off for that, it looks like anyone with 1 category and over 9K in another is listed... must start posting more in that case :-)

Wait, which site do you mean? NG or the pentalist? Pentalist has no cookies, so I'm assuming you mean NG... if not, that's very strange indeed. My problem accessing the pentalist on Saturday night had nothing to do with cookies, and it only lasted an hour or so, anyway, and cleared up on its own. I guess you're talking about something entirely different.

OGM, IT'S TEH GREATMORPH! Welcome back, ol' buddy. Of course we've all gone up several levels. We've been DEPOSITING every day, unlike a certain morphy morph. #;-}>

NG doesn't get anywhere near as many submissions because free blam points are almost extinct (that's due to a ban that happens if you get 3 blammed submissions in a certain timespan). Nowadays, going for the turd of the week is the main source of lameness on the portal, but even that isn't too big a problem. Maybe 5-10 submissions that try that per week (versus 100+ free blam points submitted per week back in the old days).

So no, not as many submissions most weekdays on NG this past year. But during holidays and weekends and the summer in general... the numbers are still well above average, so just wait until June, July, and August.

9000 isn't a hard cut-off, but yes, I basically watch for people around that mark and as soon as they hit it in their highest non-10k+ stat, I toss them into the listnotes. You're not very far off, no.

The only case I'd make an exception, BTW, is if a superblamhound like yaya or fixit or MPA or Denvish was storming upwards and already had 10k in another stat (not very likely), and I noticed them zooming from 6000 to 8000... and they were around 8500 blams when I updated the list. I might consider adding such a person to that section of the notes with only 8500 blams, if I think they're going to hit 10k within a week or two. But otherwise, 9000, yep.

Dogma ran the EGRL from June of 2003 until October or November of 2003... there was a time where it wasn't being run, and then LockClock did the top 100 or so for awhile, and jonthomson and FIGMENTUM (Mr_James) chipped in as well. Dogma returned to running the list in March of 2004. And the last update was March of 2005, so for a year straight we were back to Dogma running the list.

However, the list has been on hiatus for two months now. Dogma hasn't been getting exp, though, so it's not just a "list retirement" case. It's a "total disappearance from NG" case. Some people in the EGRL topic are putting together temp versions of the top 50 and perhaps top 100.

True enough. That's how I manage to keep my save ratio fairly high when I'm not getting many b/p. Like today.

But today, actually, I'm having crappy luck. Whenever I get on the portal, there's nothing but blams and maybe ONE 1.6-ish submission that could go either way, and usually gets blammed even though I tried to save it (like hyakugojyuuichi 3 an hour or two ago... (sob)).

Well I was down about 200 or so points, but for me it wasn't about poitns this last week anyways. I have had more important things to do.

And that's just my point. Your total, even if it's down 200 or so points, STILL puts many of the pentalist members to shame.

We've got 5 people... no wait, 6 now (Stormwarden joined fixit, Dogma, dl_Monk, RyoHahn, and Tanner) who aren't depositing any exp points at all anymore. And only one of those 6 is getting any points at all (Tanner makes a few posts each week).

So... even ramagi at 10% > those 6. #;-}>

My sister's computer died yesterday from the storm and with me being over there most of the day i wont be on NG as much =( but i will try to make up points for the day but im usually over there from like 1:00pm to 12:00am so i only get like 5 hours of NG time (at least during the week) =( hopefully she gets it fixed soon

Sorry to hear about that, X-Naut. At least try to get your 10 exp every day. Whether or not you get anything else doesn't matter that much... all other stats can be made up for by getting more than usual later on... exp can't be made up. ;_;

I hope so, man. You can afford to relax and not get so many saves per day/week/whatever once you hit 10,000, after all. If you have a really good summer in terms of how many saves you get, maybe you'll reach 10,000 in 'em even sooner than we expect, eh?

Well i have took some time away from Rg for work on my 2 sites...

Indeed. Congrats on the 10k posts, ramagi. I never would have believed it possible this quickly from you back about half a year ago. Congrats also to Bonus on his 10k posts a couple days beforehand, BTW.

As for ramagi's reviews... she has said that her current review goal is 1337.

Heh. Well, you're going to triplelist a BIT before you quadlist (just like me), but that's fine. Go ahead and get those posts over 10k first and enjoy the status of triplelist for at LEAST a week or two prior to getting the exp over 10k and jumping to quadlisting. You're going to be at quad for awhile till your saves hit 10k, so you might as well briefly enjoy teh triple status first, eh?

I'm heading out of town early Friday morning... I'll be gone through the rest of the day, overnight, and most (if not all) of the day Saturday.

Needless to say, I have no idea SPECIFICALLY when I can get the pentalist update started and/or completed by. I will likely be starting on it as soon as I get home Saturday evening or early Sunday morning, so... there WILL be an update, fear not. I just don't know if it will have Saturday data or Sunday data, that's all. Either way, I'm just letting you guys know not to expect it at the usual time, as it's very unlikely (though possible) to happen then.

Anyway... It's time to finish packing and sleep before my roadtrip... gotta drive 200+ miles on Friday and another 200+ miles on Saturday to get back here, spending some time with the family and doing some work at teh 'rents new house and so forth.

So... there ya go. SEE YA IN A FEW DAYS, EVERYONE!

Oh, and here's a little treat I whipped up in honour of teh Bonus/ramagi 10k postcount funs. What a week, what a week, eh? Due to that, but other things as well...
