Seriously worth a read, I think it's a bit over the top, but if you see the signs in yourself then you know it's time to back away from the screen and get outside the house.

And is further proof that WoW was sent by the Devil!

Well, I have to say this article is true, albeit its written in an awkward manner.

I was addicted to World of Warcraft, I played it daily for three years straight. It wasnt until I quit for the third time that I realized I had a serious addiction.

Now, after selling my account, burning the CDs and giving away my "secret question" e-mail, I feel great. Havent played that cursed game for a month now, and the urges have subsided.

I still play games, just not addictive ones, and not nearly as much as I used to.

You do know that angry parents made that up so that their childern would stop playing video games and dedicate their lives to studying and a job.

It's just plain old mean >:(

I have to strongly disagree. I have been playing video games for 12 years and l'm fine. Maybe the children aren't sleeping because they aren't tired. Have a video gamer draft to fight these quack doctors before they start putting fingers up causal gamers' butts.

Must be one awsome disease then... although I don't think I officialy have it.

But you'll waste time posting that opinion? Just read it, won't hurt you, I believe some people really do have an addiction to games/internet, not that they can call it a condition, but it's still interesting! >=\

bull. fucking. shit.
if you feel suicdle after playing a video game for too long its because you played it too long and need to do something else for awhile.

pearnts need to teach there fucking kids self control before they start talking about "addicthion"

these focus groups and thick headed "therapists" are morons and shouldnt even have jobs let alone be "therapists" infact they may just be "the rapists, of your wallet."

Its like every other Vice in america accoriding to dumbfucking scientists, if you do it more than THEY WANT YOU TO then its called an addiction. I think that people who decide that shit are addicted to fucking power. because this is a free country and if some 12 fat boy wants to waste his life on video games whose to say he cant. Even if it is bad for their health it beats the shit out of become another mindless robot of the fucking press/goverment/scientists

Well, this bullshit is a waste of my time. I thought we would have gotten over the myth that videogames are bad for you. I play video games for up to 6 hours a day, and I'm just fine. I have a life outside NG, I've never plotted to blow up my school, or kill people in a dark alley, I'm just a normal person.

If someone gets suicidal over a game, chances are they'd have enough psychosis to get suicidal over something else, if it wasn't video games.

And World of Warcraft does get boring after some time. I could never play that game for longer than three hours straight, I'd begin to hate it.

i play games all day, im still fine i can stop when i want or when i have to, i dont go outside since there is NOTHING out there, no friends to play with since theyre all at school im not addicted, i just play because of having nothing else to do :/

the best thing is i get good at games VERY fast now, i could be a noob at a game but in a day i can be better than someone whos played for a month :D

I must admit that I do spend too much time playing video games and browsing the internet but it's not an adiction. I can stop any time I want.

So, it looks like I had an addiction problem. I went cold turky for a few months and I think I'm handling it all better. The point is there are plenty of people on this site that aren't playing video games that could also have a "disease".

Although I'd like to point out that a psychological disorder isn't a disease. Its a problem, but it isn't contageous in the same manner that disease might be. Anyone should be able to get over it if they have the right support on the outside.

Yeah I myself got yes for over half of the questions, I haven't played a video game in about 2 weeks, but my 'big' problem is the internet, I just can't keep off.

It is over the top, if people make it to the end of the article I think the last line sums it up well;

"You could make lots of behavioral things into addictions. Why stop at video gaming?" Brody asked. Why not Blackberries, cell phones, or other irritating habits, he said."

And yeah I used disease simply because it'd draw more people in reading this =P

I shoulld probobly say, however, that I'm not exactly a poster boy for social interaction. I do have autism, so interaction can be a problem. However, Videogames have actually improved my social life.
