I read this on GameSpot a while ago.
It's a bit bullshit really. It's just people who have no life.

-_- This is stupid. What's next? Reading addiction? Plus, I don't see how this addiction could hurt you really. Unless your starving yourself or not sleeping to stay up for videogames. I've stayed up before but hunger comes first
i don't play video games that much, and i think i am on the internet more then video games (still not that much) so i feel happy that i don't have any of those problems
I have videogameITIS! I better stay away from the BBS for I dont know, say 3 weeks?
MY E-PENIS IS BIGGER THAN YOURS

...and this is my fag...
Wow, I play video games, but near as much as 12 hours. That's just too long. The Internet addiction signs was interesting, too.
there goes society telling us what is good for us and what we should be doing with our social lives... again
1. Lying about how much time is spent online.
When you ask someone they feel that you will judge them if they tell the truth.
2. General decrease of physical activity and social life.
People who don't have internet also have bad social lives and don't exercise.
3. Neglecting obligations at home, work, or school to spend time online.
That neglect could be to make time for any hobby.
4. Spending too much money on computer equipment or Internet activities.
You have to keep up with the hardware.
5. Feeling a constant desire to be online when they're away from the computer.
If they are feeling that desire, chances are what they are doing is really boring.
6. Going online to escape real world problems.
Real world problems can be escaped through any number of things.
7. Disregarding the emotional or physical consequences of being in front of a computer all day.
And what consequences might those be?
8. Denial of the problem.
It's not a problem.
This is big-time bullshit. The internet is the best thing to happen since real life. It keeps the world connected and is a marvel of information and fun. Everyone will find something to like about it... I'm embarrassed that this "treatment" originates in my home country.

You are over reading the questions. It's not hard to realise the questions are saying:
'Is it because of the video/gamesinternet that you..'
e.g 3. Neglecting obligations at home, work, or school to spend time online.
Yes, it could be any hobby, but they are specific to what it says it's about, I know I have neglects those exact things because of the internet.

Yes i know that, but they seem to be exclusively attacking video games and the internet when there could be other things that may cause the same behaviour. Besides, school and social lives are overrated. I play games at every opportunity and i still have an 87% average. As for a social life, who needs the half-assed respect of many people? I think that having many friends will in fact lead to drugs and alcohol depending on what group of people are in question.

Well they are attacking video games and the internet there, that is what this thread is about, any other day it could be the tv, junk foods, smoking, soft drinks, weed, whatever.
They may be overated to ou, but many people depend on their school grades/social lifes being the best they can get, and computers can affect their things for many people, sure maybe not you, but don't knock the questions, they could help people.
Woopidy-fucking-doo. Another WoW addict. Seriously these guys have no life. Why don't they just play it for few hours and go outside like sane people.
Video games aren't an addiction, these fucking therapists and psychiatrists just want to fatten their wallets with money derived from "therapy". I mean come on they had to pay 5k for sessions to help their son? Thats a bit over the top.
Bull-shit. I love video games and I am not in the slightest addic...Actually I am. But no so badly I would kill myself without a day of them.

I had to try very hard not to vomit after reading those. Those people are idiots. But they're not as bad as the morons who think playing a lot of video games should be considered a mental problem... they're comparing somebody who doesn't want to get a girlfriend because they would rather play World of Warcraft to somebody who can't do much more than flail their arms around and go "Ah-oong! Ah-oong!" all day, and I don't think they even realize it!
While I agree with what part of that Article says I have to say it is mostly a Crock of shit, Yes people can be come addicted to video Games I myself am addicted, but is it, a Psychological Disorder? No way in hell, can it be an Psychological Disorder
I took that test as well. and I scored a 26 which gave me this:
