actually hentai is the japanese word for pervert (ha), not twisted, and when you say ecchi you mean nudity, hentai when used in the context of anime refers to actual sex type animation while ecchi isn't considered that because it is just nudity. and yes most of the time ecchi can be tasteful, but then you have the ecchi that made dirty pair what it is....... very untasteful, lol.

so i just watched the last episode of Paranoia Agent for the 100th time, and here's something i noticed that i didn't before, shows how perceptive i am.

throughout the entire show, while it was made out to look like a show for kids, except for Lil Slugger of course, i noticed that the little puppet thing kept mentioning as it explained each person's profession, how easy it would be for them to go insane, in yet, even though every one of them went through a mental breakdown, only one got hit by the actual Lil Slugger, the others just got attacked by their co-workers.

"Ecchi" is the common word to express anything lewd in general.
"Hentai", on the other hand, is the word which means twised, but usually used in extreme situations. Though usually used for extreme and/or non-natural sexual situations (i.e. Tentacle Rape, Gangbang, etc...), there are occasions which this word is used for non sexual situations.

But so is calling something violent, lewd or sick. But even then, there's a limit or boundary to when it is reasonable to consider something that.

Ecchi would be usually nudity, mild sexual scenes, intercourse.

On the other hand, something "Hentai" in a sexual situation would be comparingly sickening scenes usually involving odd fetishes such as Extreme Chain Bondage, tentacle rape, gang-bangs, and the works.

Finding examples from an "Anime" point of view, I have two which I know:

In Dragon Ball Z, the young Trunks was pushed aside by Suppobobbi (sp?) during the number drawing in the Martial Arts Meet. The quote was along the lines of "Nanda, kona Hentai yarou wa?", which translates to "What's with that twisted freak"?

In Naruto, Tsunade calls Orochimaru a "Hentai Yarou" when the news was given to her that Sasuke is going to Orochimaru.

And WHO were the people who did subtitling? Chances are that they are done by non Japanese people (Even if they have a Japanese Background or not).

Take Akazukin ChaCha for Example, subbed by Live-Evil. The character known as Seravy carries a doll of a young girl around with him all the time and uses her as a Ventrilloquist (sp?) medium.

One of the characters calls him a "Hentai", despite the fact that he is NOT a pervert in any way. The term "Twisted" would make more sense in this case.

Actually, the meaning probably comes closer to "perverse".

Perverse itself, meaning two or more things:
1) marked by immorality; deviating from what is considered right or proper or good
2) being, relating to, or characterized by perversion <perverse sexual behavior>

Which is probably why it is more often translated as pervert as opposed to twisted. Just a minor mistake.

Well, that's just ONE example of how to use it. I never said it was wrong to use it that way.

What I did say is incorrect was the fact that the majority of people who know the word "Hentai" thinks it just means "Cartoon Sexual Situation", which is NOT the case as I'm trying as hard as I can to tell everyone reading this.

Well, it's a little hard to describe, but if you're seeking the best action scenes, I recommend Episode 3 titled "White Lovers"*.

* It is not a term relating to race. It's a play on the popular cookies sold in Hokkaido known as "Shiroi Koibito". And yes; those cookies are EXCELLENT. If anyone goes to Hokkaido, those are a MUST HAVE.

I was also rather unhappy with the ending to Rurouni Kenshin. Although the series wasn't relatively short, i fel that another 'saga' or storyline could have been added. I am aware of Samurai X, i just never "go into it".

I'm jumping in here even though I'm not part of this club.

There was an addition, which is the Samurai X that is after the series, I believe it's Reflections or something. That was all they made in addition to Rurouni Kenshin (The other samurai X's are either before or during Rurouni Kenshin) and btw, the last Samurai X is supposed to not be very good at all.

Some might even say it's something that should be forgotten to keep the Rurouni Kenshin series a sparkling series without any bad stuff surrounding it.

Reflections is essentially Roruni Kenshin TV in like an hour and a half. I do believe there are some other films of Kenshin that have yet to be released but I think there are fansubs of them or it's possible they never existed. It's also possible they will never exist and I'm just being told things by dumb people but hey what can ya do?
