I actually liked Elfen Lied. The story wasn't the very best, but it still had a message...a message that 9/10 people didn't get, but still a message. I hate how people say that it's based on fan service and the gore, when it's not...I think they're just trying to add a bit of ease, or a bit of realism to the whole picture.
I mean, come on, when someone takes a shower or a bath, fog doesn't magically appear over their breasts and genitalia only....they're kinda naked. Sure, it's not necessary to see it all of the time, but if that's the case, at least put the camera behind them. Also, I think the detailed gore was a good thing....I hate how somebody shoots a high powered gun at somebodies face, and the only thing that happens is it gets covered with blood, with a tiny hole in the front part of their head....not to mention they just fall down, rather than move.
At least these guys understand that shooting at somebody=gibs most of the time. And I'm not endorsing the small .22 or 9mm guns blowing off someone's entire face (lol, what anime was that from again?) that's just stupid....I just hate it when I see a character toting a badass .50 AE shoots someone in the side of the head, and all that happens is the person falls down and bleeds.
At 9/8/07 07:40 PM, KingPanther13 wrote: ...not to mention they just fall down, rather than move.
I'm trying to guess the meaning of this one.
Are you trying to say when somebody gets shot in the head they DON'T just fall down with a hole in their head?
What else is supposed to happen?
It's not as if people fly back when they get shot.

If it's a weak gun, then yeah, they'll absorb the force and fall down...but with a stronger gun, they will move at least a bit, if not fly back. I hate any kind of show where someone is holding a gun so damn powerful, but yet the person just absorbs the shock of the bullet and collapses, while the bad guy is so damn strong he feels no recoil.
Also, I know the whole idea of a person with the psycho-kinetic powers ripping people apart isn't realistic, but I'm talking the simple things....I also hate it when a person somehow gets his hand chopped off (or something like that) and there magically is no bone amidst the blood, and the person isn't even bleeding....yeah, that's not right.
Oh, and don't consider me ranting...I'm a talkative guy, so whenever I have a few small ideas I always type a lot of details...I'm not mad or anything, I'm just trying to put my idea across.
As for the sugarcoating...well yeah, that's the only thing I disliked about the whole series.....I don't think it was that bad, I mean I never really pay much attention to fan service after it's already over with...I just felt that I was looking into something as if it were really happening (As I said before, fog doesn't magically cover a naked body, and people aren't always talking during the perfect moments)....and of course, no, I don't believe something to be happening, I just like to view it as if it is. I'm the kind of person that will point out and say "Hey, that's not supposed to happen!", and it'll bug me unless it's explained.
:Again, sorry for long post lengths/rant like typing...I just don't know how to shorten my words.
Right, there's no need, so I don't mind when it isn't very graphic...though I prefer it to look how it would if it were in a realistic situation....but I see no harm in when they do go the extra mile. Most people don't notice, and those who do notice either are kinda queasy type people that probably don't like gore, or people who love detail...at least, that's how I see it. For people who don't mind, I don't see why it's really a bad thing.

Oh hey Gendo, why were you acting all gangster about 800 pages back? I just clicked a random page in the thread, and there you were acting all....odd.
And uh, as for Black Lagoon...what's good with it? What can it be compared with? I'd like to see it, but I don't know what to expect...it seems completely different than anything I've seen before, but I figure it won't hurt to ask.

Oh wow, an ancient page featuring idiocy by a much younger me.
It's nothing more than that, and it bears no relevance to the topic at hand.

It's like Cowboy Bebop, but with pirates and alot more adult content.
Very fun series, great music too.

Alright, so basically I should check it out after I see Cowboy Bebop...yeah that's right, I still haven't gotten a chance to see it yet...or FMA. I always start a different series before I remember that I have some old ones I haven't watched.

Kinda pointless, especially given the fact have far more embarrassingly stupid posts elsewhere.
Not to mention the majority of this club knows I was a stupid wigger all those years ago.

Well, I wasn't really "in" to anime until I got bored at the beginning of the summer, thinking back to old Cartoon Network series...so I started watching Big O and Gundam, then a friend recommended Eva....and I fell in love with anime, and kept looking around different places for which series to watch next.
I guess nobody really talked much about either series whenever I was doing a quick search of which anime to watch next, though I'm definitely watching Bebop once I'm done with Rozen Maiden...and FMA should come afterwards. Oh, and since I'm on the subject, is the dub for FMA any good, or is the sub better? I already heard that dub>sub in Bebops case.
:As for the early posts thing, yeah, my posts are very very stupid from before...I didn't really dig for that one though, I just clicked one of the pages, and he just kinda popped up.

They really won't.
With a gun that is meant to be held, the person being shot will fly back just as far as the person holding the gun.
Newtons third law and everything.
Now if the gun is attached to something, or the person holding the gun is standing in a way that provides better balance, then perhaps the situation might be different.

Argh.. i have just gotten myself into deeper shit this morning.
Last night i came home around 11pm and i thought i'm going to the store just to get some quickies. There were 4 guys standing outside the shop. One of them(which is alot taller than me) came directly towards me and pointed a knife against my stomach. They really didn't look THAT stupid or poor. Before i even notice, there were four guys standing beside him already. Well? I gave all my money and belongings and they hit me with the back of the knife and ran off.
I swear i was at the peak of my idiocy during that period. Fuck!

It all depends on the gun and the person firing(, really...I meanLook at how strong this baby is....you don't see the sniper flying from the mountain each time he shoots something.
Nonetheless, the person at least moves backwards, rather than absorb the shock and fall on his face....of course, all depending on impact.

You have to remember that snipers don't really hold their weapons.
They position them on something, and direct them.
But either way, how can you tell he doesn't have a lot of recoil?
Nonetheless, the person at least moves backwards, rather than absorb the shock and fall on his face....of course, all depending on impact.
I believe Mythbusters proved otherwise.

Link to the Mythbusters thing then? Lemme guess, they used a BB gun pistol on somebody who weighed 300 pounds? :P I'm not saying he has no recoil, but it's not the exact force he's sending out....if it was, his gun wouldn't be retrievable.
Seriously though, only some small guns will let the person absorb the shock...the rest will knock them backwards, on some rare occasions they fly for a few feet, and with the more powerful guns, you'll see some chunks, or some bloody fireworks. I was just complaining about how someone will shoot a gun powerful enough to make someone's head explode, but the person just absorbs it, is covered in blood, and collapses.
ANYWHO, in other news, I just finished watching Rozen Maiden.[ZOMG SPOILERS] It was a pretty good series...had a great balance of drama and comedy, and had some pretty good characters. I will say that I didn't really like the ending too much though....I do love the whole "Everything you thought was wrong, the father really isn't evil!" and they're all happy, but then you realize there are still some dead people...and quite a few unresolved issues. Plus, Jun turned out to be an idiot...good character, but he was so stupid at the end....Oh yeah, killing the murderer who killed your friends makes you as bad as the murderer, mhhmm, makes perfect sense....just watch out for the...ouch...you just got stabbed.
I seriously wanted to see Bara Suishou's face get crushed in, but instead Shinku has to get all emo because of Jun, and then get stabbed by Suishou. Then the unresolved issues. All in all, I liked it though...definitely not perfect, but definitely was worth the watch. Up next, is Cowboy Bebop.

Rozen Maiden never interested me quite frankly, the whole Desu fade turned me off to the series.
It's actually a good series. The only part I don't like is that I'm feeling sad over fucking dolls.
I'd love to play with those dolls.
