Those filler episodes acturally brought back a long-missing character, not to mention plenty of pointlessness to extend the story further and possibly bending it beyond the start of Naruto Part 2, as some call it.

And for those who watched Episode 142, Rock Lee is WAY too muscular in his scene, he's even more muscilar than Gai that way.
