yeah, the only way he'll find a "Rick" is a bad dub. The way a Japanese person would pronounce Rick would be Rikku anyway.

Yep. It's just not a Japanese name. My brother's lived in Japan for a while. They couldn't pronounce his name which is Vinny so they called him Beenie instead. He he. Also yeah I think the Japanese have a insane desire to add vowels to the end of non Japanese names. :)

Woops! Did I say brother's I meant brother. Man I gotta watch my typos.

My cousin is japanese, when I first met him he called me 'Ricky',
I always wonder why they have a hard time with pronouncing words, although my cousin finally called me Rick after being in the USA for about 8 years now...

Wow. You are lucky he was as close as he was to pronouncing it!

"Rick" just isn't a name that would come naturally to a Japanese person. Ricky or Ricku would be how they would say it.

The whole Pronounciation thing is always a problem when speaking anouther language. In a few animes I have its painfully obvious, on acount of the fact that they write the words the way it comes out when they say it. Take "Goku-Midnight Eye"(Has NOTHING to do with DBZ) a sign says door Rock instead of Lock. Outlaw Star did something similar with the word Congradurations instead of Congradulations. Its really common, americans have trouble pronouncing Russian because of the trilled R's. Oh well practice makes perfect!

I guess so, but if you watch Irresponable Captain Taylor, they can say 'Taylor' (although most of the time it sounds more like 'Taydor' but the d is almost silent).
Also talking about I.C. Taylor, can anyone find me a site where I can buy dvd's of the episodes? *I'm dying to find out, it's really hard for me because those episodes are really hard to find*

I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel its high time some good anime flashes started getting submited! 100,000 Matrix parodies and zero Inuyasha or Cowboy Bebop flashes, it is not right(or entertaining for that matter)! If it commes down to it we should collaborate on flashes and put our own out there. If ***Isonfire*** can pass judgment, the combined talent and voting power of a club this huge sure as hell can pull it off!!! Whos with me?!?!

There are anime flashes on NG if you know where to look. Somebody did a robotech series that was popular, Dekathos there made the Ranma Interactive Dojo. If you search for "In a nutshell" it'll turn up dozens of anime. As for making our own, PBX had something planned, but I haven't heard anything about that since december. I don't know if anyone here has flash to make one. I had an idea planned once to make a parody of Dante's Infero using the clock crew, but then I found out how much flash cost.

(Flash MX can be, ahem, 'acquired' if you know how and where to look.)

I'm just surprised that among all the members this club has, there are very few flash artists among us.

I am going to try flash to animate an intro and ending for my sprite based comics. (In other words it's gonna be super cool.)

At any rate i just need to get a Tablet and practice tweening and such in the meentime. After that its all about voice actors. Need a female one at the very least, and a extra male for back and forth banter/argument scenes. Will acept any requests for an audition of sorts for the roles. Just tell me your iterested in voice acting and we'll go from there.

I also forgot to mention that the intro will contain about 80% of drawings and about 20% of sprites. And about vice-versa for the ending.

Response to Anime Club 2004-06-06 00:57:48

Spites and drawing good. Sticks and shapeless crap bad! So long as there are no blockes around the sprites it should look great. Can't wait to see it.
