Has anyone here read Newtype USA? Apparently, it's a monthly anime magazine started in 2002, and I saw it for the first time last Friday. I'd like to find out how good it is before I try to buy a subscription.

I've bought a few issues myself. It tells you all the new and upcoming anime/manga. It has interviews with the authors of 'said series', and funny this, it has a tv schedule for all the anime that is on in Japan. Also tells you the latest anime/manga in Japan too. It's a very good magazine, but it's about $80+ for a yearly subscription, but it comes with a free t-shirt, and every issue comes with a pro-mo anime DVD and some random goodie. I'd recomend buying a copy first, then subscribing. Just in case you don't want to subscribe to it.

You have to get bit torrent[or something like that. Tink knows more about it than I do]and DL them. That or read the manga.

His nickname is Chad, but it's pronounce Sado.

His name is Sado, but the Kanji character for Sa is the same as it is for tea, which is cha in Japanese, so Sado becomes Chado, which is the Japanese way of saying Chad, because in Japanese a word has to finish on a vowel, the only consonant that can end a word is "n"

Hi,
I was wondering if I could join. I'm a big fan of anime, but seeing as I live in England, there's basically just dragonball (z and gt) and big o, which doesn't help =/ But recently I found a lovely little import games shop which sells anime dvds(wookoo!) and am sure you could give me some recommendations. So, please may I join?

Response to Anime Club 2005-02-15 15:24:32

I've always wanted to take up an asian language... I wanted chinese so I can understand the people at the chinese restraunt, and Jap for anime purposes. I'll settle this easily, which language is more widely spoken

Then, which everones that aren't taken, and don't appear on the list, you can choose from.

For example : If you see Naruto on the list, that means he's taken, and you can't be him.

But if you don't see Vegeta, that means he's free, and you can be him.

Ok, this is going to be hard to come up with 5 animes that I've seen (thanks a bloody lot tv!) but I'll try.
Character: Well.....um, Roger Smith from Big O then (can I change this if I see a better character, I really haven't seen much o_O)
So thankyou, and now I'm going to look up different anime for half an hour on the web, first up *checks list* naruto.

well you could have said DBZ and DBGT and big o(small type intentional), thats already three. If you get cartoon network you could have added a vaster list than that most of what I've seen is on cartoon network and I can personally say that that is a lot.

what about adult swim? do you have that? It is apart of cartoon network from 11pm- 5am every day exept friday.

I have seen all of the following on cartoon network:
Inuyasha, Pokemon (I think), Yugioh, Lupin the 3rd, Case Closed, Witch Hunter Robin, Big O, Rouroni Kenshin, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Gundam, Gundam Wing, Gundam Seed, Outlaw Star, Yu Yu Hakushin (or how ever you spell it), Wolf's rain, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell:SAC, and the movies Read or Die, The Animatrix, and Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. Theres probably some I've missed but still

see what you missed on a network you have?

Um... I'm back again. I got a PS2 and I've been playing that for a while.

BTW has anyone ever watched Fullmetal Alchemist? I got a game for it... but never watched the anime. But it comes with cut scenes, so I'd have to say it's pretty good, but I want an opinion if I should watch it or not.

Cool. Is it any good? Review maybe?

Maybe you should, but temptation will pull you into watching them. It's anime man, like crack for normal people. :D

I just finished it a couple days ago. I say yes w3atch it for sure. It gets crazy... The onlt thing that sucks is that the comedy that's in the begining dies out towards the end. It turns pretty much all serious within the last few episodes. Make sure it's subbed though. You know how I feel about dubbed anime.
Ah! and there's also a Fullmetal Alchemist movie coming out this year. As far as I know it's a continuation of the series since the series kinda ends somewhat unfinished. Anyhow, I've babbled enough....

Uh oh....
"> Naruto "licensed" by ShoPro Entertainment
On February 15 ShoPro Entertainment announced it was appointed the main licensor for Naruto in the USA. This has lead many to claim Naruto has been licensed. Also the ShoPro "license" means Naruto is now much more likely to be licensed in the US, especially by VIZ."

Y'know, you can always just grab the unbutchered versions, or read the manga, (which I'm sure you have already done), but for people who don't have 'other means', they rely on what the american suits give them.

The licensed manga is probably already more butchered than the show will be. "Technique of the Doppelganger" *sudder* thats just bad.

Why? Why did they have to license Naruto? We don't even know when it's gonna end! Now that it's licensed... this just sucks. :( Now I'm seriously depressed. :( *cries*

Naruto, I've heard of that. It's been made into a fighting game in Japan (maybe America, I dunno, me English)which is apparently very good and is a great anime as well. I have no idea what it's about so could someone please enlighten me?

Whats even worse is in SJ, there is some reference to religion. Remeber when they were in the first part of their ninja exams...

********************SPOILER****************************************

And their teacher said, " I wish you all luck " and Naruto screamed out " HELL YEAH WISH US LUCK! " In SJ, it's " I will pray for your safety. " " THATS RIGHT! YOU GO PRAY! " :: shivers :: Thats just eirre. Not to mention the meased up translations that don't sound right at all.

It's about a ninja boy named Naruto who lives in a ninja village that has the spirit of a 9 tailed fox demon sealed in him. He's pretty much an idiot but there are times when he kicks alot of ass. lol That's my take on it at least.

Ok then, well I did see a Naruto T-shirt being sold in my local import game shop so I may see if they have any Naruto dvds to.
Oh, and I've found out that there's this anime program called "RaveMaster" on in England. Worth watching?
