Hey guys. I'm not a huge anime fan by any means, but I somehow enjoy reading mangas :). Can anyone recommend me some good ones? I've read My Balls, an erotica manga which actually has some humor to it and is pretty good. I've read a few of the Death Note books on MangaFox, but they took it off because of copyright laws, which sucks cause I really enjoyed that manga. And yeah, what's everyone up to?

Most of /a/ is not original content buddy. /a/ is 90% screen caps 9% shit copied from 2chan 1% original content. Saying not to post images that appear on /a/ is stupid. Your post isn't really relevant to my post either. This is pretty big news the world premier of the next season of a popular anime will be at AX and you just want to bitch about the images I use.

Mangafox isn't the only site with manga scans you know, you can read Death note on other websites.
And read Legend of the strongest man Kurosawa, Liar game, Drifting classroom, Uzumaki, Gantz and Akira.
Serial Experiments Lain was great. Everything ABe touches turns out to be amazing. Although its older the animation style is great and the story line had a similar feel to it as Texhnolyze. I have herd good things about Colorful and Angel Beats so im gonna be checking those out in a day or two then finish Bakemonogatri.
Just finished watching Colorful it was pretty good. It had some pretty neat twists and it teaches a nice lesson. It is also a lot more down to earth then most Anime. All the characters have imperfections that make it a lot more realistic. I would have loved it if the animation was a little cleaner though. The animation is rather choppy during running scenes. I wasn't a huge fan of the whole animating over pictures rather then making a scene Bakemonogatari style that a lot of parts of this anime took though. .
Can you not post a picture in every single post, please, Jebus? It's kind of annoying.

What kind of anime do you like?
Been chugging through LOGH the past while, and it highly deserves it's reputation as one of the best anime series ever. Smart but moving, totally doesn't look down on the viewers intelligence when it's explaining the pros and cons of both parties' political ideologies.
A must watch.
Also bought Nausicaa on bluray. I haven't seen the film since 2006, but it's still as stunning as ever to me. Although, watching it again has given me more motivation to read the manga since the film was still a little watered down in comparison. Still, I loved the movie and I loved Joe Hisaishi's score, it was magnificent.
And then on the side of all this, Hana Yori Dango is addicting already, and I'm only 4 episodes in!

I love that movie. The atmosphere is great. the scenery, the sounds, the music.

One Piece definitely has the upper hand when it comes to 'epic' fights. That said, Hokuto no Ken(Fist of the North Star) is the grandfather of all fighting anime series.

I'm pretty intimidated to start watching One Piece since I'd have to start at the beginning, as I only used to watch it casually and it's so long. I did the same with Bleach, although I skipped every bit of filler. How many episodes does One Piece have at the moment? Is it still ongoing?
The story is just getting past it's halfway point. The anime is almost 500 episodes long now. This I will tell you though, it's worth getting into, even if the first few arcs are slow and dated. I'll be the first to tell you that I disliked the show for a long time, but after trying it again, it's one of my favorite shounen series.
It's a journey that should be experienced.
Anyone else still watching tiger + bunny? Enjoyed the latest episode, developing an antagonist finally. Can't believe kotetsu's so dense, and a bit annoyed that there hasn't been anything since the second ep regarding his wife and kid, would like to know more about them etc etc.

Lunatic is going to kill Kotetsu's daughter turning him into a gritty cop in the last half calling it.
Ugh, if anything annoys me it's people going "oh i'm thinking of learning japanese". It takes so much effort to learn a language and people have this image of them being able to even get anything useful out of it without much effort which is just plain wrong. Five years of french and german in school and i still struggle on holiday....

Nope. It doesn't take a expert to see when somethings lacking. I think they did a amazing job considering there tiny staff and this being there first production. Watch it; it is a good movie but you will probably agree with me the the animation in it is subpar by todays standards.
Summer Anime looks kinda bad for the most part. I heard some really good things about Usagi Drop though so I will probably just watch that, Nichijou OAV, and the new Ghibli movie.
Just watched Nichijou 06 (yeah, i'm watching doki who are a week behind schedule so kill me), absolutely loved it. So many great scenes full of amazing animation, loved the deer and the camping bit especially. Hope doki crank out this weeks soon.

I have bounced back and forth between Doki, Commie and Horrible with Nichijou and there doesn't really seem to be a really notable difference. With such a relaxed slow passed show I don't really think they have much room to make big mistakes. Don't really understand all the negativity toward HorribleSubs they do a lot better job then UTW or GG.

Studying at school is the worst way to learn a language. You're supposed to immerse yourself in the language, that's how everyone learns their native language. I learned English without ever studying the grammar or shit like that, even though its not my native language, English was just very prevalent in my environment. Japanese is harder to learn because its different from the romantic languages and there's a more complicated writing system, but it really shouldn't take 5 years to learn. Of course that depends on the level which you want to achieve in speaking the language. Languages can never be perfected.

As someone who is studying Japanese at school I say that fighting a shark is the worst way to learn a language.

Holy fuck man it's like you are the ultimate troll, god I hope you are trolling.
Doki are notorious for having pants on head retarded translations, they translated tentacle as string for fucks sake. Just look for yourself.
As far as HS vs. GG and UTW, both UTW and GG have better translations than HS, but the HS subs depend on who the translator for CunchyRoll is, because they don't do any translation themselves (in case you were unaware). I know that one of the old translators for Eclipse does CR subs now, and those are quite good translations, but for a majority of HS subs GG and UTW have better ones, although GG troll a lot.

Thanks for the clarification. I don'y really pay much attention to the whole fansubbing scene.I guess thats why horriblesubs are pretty consistently good. I don't use UTW anymore though since they fucked up big time in Ano Hana. Don't really have a problem with the way Doki translates things though so I guess for me its just mainly about who puts it out first and as long as there aren't any major fuck ups I use them.

No problem. The first part of JoJo is kinda bad, though, but the later parts (especially part 3 and onward) make up for it.
