Just finished this, really liked it. Maybe there were a few too many characters introduced just to be killed, and perhaps a couple of chapters were a little filler-y, but I loved it. The ending was so touching, I listened to the song in question as I was reading it and was almost brought to tears like the giant pussy that I am.
Read up to the latest chapter of Sankarea, damn I hope this has a happy end I hate sad endings.
Watched Paprika, Origin, Vexile, and Tokyo Godfather. Vexile was a pretty big disappointment after all the hype I heard about it. I really don't like the art style in it and the story was pretty much your generic cyber punk wannabe GITS. Origin was made by the same studio I believe, but I enjoyed it a lot more then Vexile. Like Vexile though they tried to piggy back off the success of a already established anime. There where more then a few elements that where borrowed from Princess Mononoke. Paprika and Tokyo Godfathers where both great though and I would highly recommend them. They where both very unique and refreshing and I loved how colorful everything was in Paprika.
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom. i ve been watching it for a while and wonder if anyone else is loving this drama? other than spamming GD for a while the show pretty good then the twist was like; it took a hard right then over a nice hill then slamming down the pedals only to see the highway and break the speed limit... sadly im still wacthing so my weird expression of it is incomplete.

Pretty exhausted right now, so I'm not really rushing to watch episode 2, but it's pretty good. I've also watched the first episode of Highschool of the Dead, and it's great. Pretty unnecessary how much skin they show on all of the girls though, but I'm not complaining.
By episode 6 (i think? maybe a bit later than 6? You'll know what episode I mean when you see it) the amount of skin they show is well beyond pretty unnecessary. I signed up for bloody fanservice, not softcore porn but that's what I got.
also currently watching abenobashi magical shopping arcade, very very good. I hear it's got a typical gainax ending though so I'm bracing myself.
Joining this shit. Would anyone like to recommend me an anime? My favorites right now are Elfen Lied and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.
I WANT TO FUCK ON THE FLOOR AND BREAK SHIT

Sounds like somebody didn't read the manga.

I remember picking up the first volume of the manga of that back when I was into buying them, and they were a third of the price they are now.
I distinctly remember being disappointed at the volume's reliance on jokes about uh... "Womanly features" so never bothered to continue.

Didn't he stand for megalomania?
Light stood for murdering bad people, including those who were already in jail and could have been rehabilitated. He also murdered people for getting in his way. If he stuck to his principles, he'd have killed himself.

Yeah, there's a lot of ecchi in the anime, fanservice galore, but really enjoyed it. A great tale about growing up and accepting fate, although the last episode certainly packed a lot of shit in, it felt like it wanted to be spread over two episodes. Ending didn't quite make sense which is a shame, but yeah I can't get over just how cute that bit in the OP is when arumi turns aroudn with her hands by her head and mimes cat ears or some shit. Also all the references and things were great, it's obvious how they decided to do TTGL after writing episode 3, ep3's pretty much TTGL in 22 minutes.
8/10
Finished Shakugan no Shana 2, can't wait for 3 in the fall.

That's one thing that's a problem in a lot of anime. Characters become cripplingly fucking retarded in the presence of women and make stupid faces or their noses bleed or something. Some really good shows are brought down by stuff like that, like Desert Punk. It's part of the guy's character to be a pig and all, but they really hammered that point until it got really annoying. "boobs! duuuuuuh" And that whole episode where he has that girl imprisoned is just pathetic.
"Humor" can nearly ruin an anime. I still haven't continued watching Soul Eater and that's a big reason. For example, the constant reminder that Death Jr. is obsessed with symmetry. fucking enough, already. It was already retarded the very first time he had his little freak out and ignored the fact that he was about to die. No matter how bad your OCD or OCPD is, you're not going to go into a trance and completely forget the supernatural monster that's trying to kill you. There's the humor, plus there's Black Star. Fuck everything about that character. Although his death scythe who turns into a kusari gama and can imitate other people's weapons is cool. But the artwork is really neat, especially the scenery/background art, and there's some good action, and the show actually started to get pretty interesting. I left off right when Death was about to fight that kishin that's supposed to be really badass, whatever his name is.
Finished LOGH(Legend of the Galactic Heroes).
Nothing can touch this anime. Absolutely nothing. It wasn't the most entertaining thing I've ever watched, but it sure as hell is the sharpest.
Masterpiece.

Yea I have heard a lot of positivity toward this show I plan on checking it out once I get my internet connection back on. A lot of /a/nons say its one the best anime out there. Also I had a holy shit moment when I saw Paprika for sale at safeway yesterday $9.99 Kind of abnormal to see good anime in stores. Been out all day for the past few days applying at places working on getting a job so I can move out of my parents house.
I really want to watch LOGH cos I've heard loads of stuff about it and am curious as to just why /a/'s so divided about it, but I use anime as a form of escapism and I'm not sure I could so heavily invest my time in a proper political epic like logh. I tend to enjoy light hearted simple comedies and slice of lifes a lot, it's not that I don't have the cognitive capacity for more intellectual stuff or anything, I'm just... not feeling it I guess.
IDK, maybe after exam season.
well since you dry humped death note so much up the page i might suggest code geass because it's the same thing except with mechas and even more stupid "yes i knew that you knew that i knew but did you know that i knew that you knew that i knew that?", except i'd rather not recommend it to anyone
but it's right up your alley

I felt that way about Soul Eater at the start, and almost gave it up myself. It was indeed very annoying.
But a bit later on in the show (maybe 10 episodes in? I don't remember too well), when it stopped focussing so much on its terrible humour, and focussed on the top notch action. And it stayed good up until its rather lacklustre ending. There was still bad humour, but it was fewer and further between.
There were a few funny characters, though, in Death, Franken Stein, and Excalibur.

Judging buy his post he will like Elfen Lied. Soft core porn and mindless violence is what he is looking for in anime.
Steins;Gate was rather surprising. There wasn't really any big developments in this episode but it does show some of the limitations there time machine has. A pretty good episode over all, also had a pretty hot trap in it. I was disappointed by the lack of blatant Dr.Pepper advertisement though.
Just watched ef - a tale of memories....
spoilers
eh, boring ending for a boring anime :| I didn't really engage to the renji/chihiro plot, an interesting concept but I saw the ending coming a mile off anyway. I know I'm missing the point a bit but I prefer bittersweet endings, and a memory loss has great potential. The entire renji/chihiro plot is about happy endings I suppose but still... "this is just the beginning" at the end? :\\\\\\\ Whatever. Still I enjoyed the love triangle plot, I know a lot of people didn't like it because it's more typical, but I preferred it.
Still, I must admit even if the female character design wasn't my thing and renji's hair was stupid, the use of colour was excellent as was the art in general.
6/10
