Chobits is my vote.

i haven't read sakura but i did watch some of the show when i aired years back. it's not bad either but it's geared towards a younger audience(mainy girls really)whereas Chobits is a middle ground in attracting an audience. it's really good too art wise and the interaction between Chi and dude face is really cute at times. it's six or so volumes so it doesn't over saturate you too much like a long release with sakura.

or at least i think it's six volumes. might be off there.

Been watching Berserk lately since everyone raves about it. Its pretty impressive. I am really liking the art style. You can tell that they spent a lot of time and money animating that. The story line is also pretty great as well.

Storyline?

It's a dumb comedy. It's supposed to be funny, not gripping.

You should read the manga.. The anime covers only a small portion of the story. However, they're making a new anime that's going to adapt the entire story.

Yea its not a bad show I am following it atm as well. It doesn't really excel at anything but it does a good job at everything. I just hope they don't adapt all the fanservice in ep 4 in to the rest of the series. The first 3 episodes where definitely enjoyable though.

I get in to anime mostly for the art. A collaboration of people working together to make something amazing is awesome. I also like the Pixar movies and anything that you can really tell they spent a lot of time on. I don't really appreciate manga as much as anime because of this. Mangas are generally just one person doing all the art then a few people editing it to make it look pretty. A lot less effort goes in to creating a Manga then a Anime. I would rather just sit down and read a book over reading a manga.

Not to mention the Manga is beautiful.

So, by your logic, novels are also inferior to a completely different medium of storytelling because it's all written by one person.

I definitely wouldn't say that it takes less effort. It's only one guy who writes Berserk and does the drawings. Making 40 pages a month is a lot of of work, especially when considering that the artwork in Berserk is above average and very detailed.

Chobits is my vote.

I'll probably end up reading both of them anyway, so it's a bad question really.

This week's episode of Nichijou was by far the best. The whole thing was animated really well and humorous.

The deer and principal wrestling segment was the best part of the episode.

Nope I enjoy novels. Don't like manga though but thats just my opinion. Making a novel takes a lot more time then making a manga. Anime though in a lot of ways I appreciate more then novels. When I watch a anime I think about all the people that spent countless hours creating it. Most modern anime uses 30 fps. In a average 25 minute anime there are over 40,000 images. Although most of these are only slightly modified versions of the previous frame it still takes a immense amount of time. I understand why people would enjoy a Manga better then a Anime. When you limit the number of people changing things around there is a lot less compromise and the authors original ideas get through much clearer. On the other hand though things get stagnant with only one persons ideas expressed and the art tends to be very uniform and unattractive to me. I personally like it better when a bunch of people work together and despite there differences create something great.

On another note I watched Haibane Renmei. It was great. The story was really different then anything I have seen, and the animation was really bright and almost looked like watercolors. One of the few anime that has ever brought be close to tears as well.

What? That really depends on which work you are talking about. And there are lots of mangas that have been in making for many years or decades. Novels usually don't take that long. What you just said makes no sense.

I'm still not entirely sure why production time factors into comparison of different mediums at all?

Novels usually do take a long time. Most authors end up reworking there novels numerous times before the editor accepts it. I was comparing a full novel to 1 Manga not the whole series of manga. I should have made it more clear in that post though that this is all just my opinion. I am not trying to say manga<a nime. I am trying to say I like anime>manga and this is why... I am sure all the people that like Manga>anime have there reasoning as well. Anyways I thought Haibane Renmei was a great show and I would like to see other peoples opinions on it.

Last anime I watched was Puella Magi Magika Madoka. It's a magical girl anime that will fuck your shit up. Don't let the opening song decieve you.

Also started watching the anime version of Valkryia Chronicles. Just Cause.

Howso? I mean, it's twelve epsiodes, it had a formula I really liked it was essentially a self-parody of the whole Magical Girl trope in general and it was good. Not amazing stuff but it's something unlike anything going on in anime.

Has anyone ever seen Ghost Hunt? That's pretty amazing! <3 ;P Their's an English version too, at the moment I've just finished watching Lucky Star and about to watch Bleach. xP ^.^

I finally found a application that allows me to stream HD MKV's to my 360 on the fly so I have been rewatching some anime recently. Anime looks so much better on a 60 inch HDTV then my 22 inch monitor :P. Currently re-watching Durarara up to 10 on that. I also watched this weeks [C], Steins Gate and Ano Hana. I haven't used my 360 in ages but I have a feeling its gonna get used a lot more now. The application actually encodes the files on your PC and sends them using a UPnP service to your 360 so you need to have a decent computer and a Wired network for HD content.

Anime Expo announced today Hatsune Miku vocaloid will be performing in the US for the first time ever at this years expo. Hopefully I come up with the money before the tickets sell out :X. I am not a huge fan of vocaloids but I still would enjoy seeing a vocaloid concert thats not just some shitty camera on youtube. I don't think vocaloids are really going to catch on in the US so there probably won't be many opportunity to see live performances.

I just picked up the Darker Than Black manga yesterday. Not really sure what to expect from it, but hopefully it will be good. Other than that, I haven't really been watching much anime. I still need to see Summer Wars, but other than that, there's nothing I'm interested in seeing.
