Wow, yesterday I was until 3:00 am seeing Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, Hellsing and Zombie Loan.
I´m surprise by not seeing FMA before, it´s awesome.

Amen to that. Not starting an argument, but here are some "popular" anime titles I dislike. Dragon Ball (any), Naruto, Case Closed, Death Note, and Fruit Basket. I gave all those shows a chance and they failed to impress. I have yet to try "Bleach", I will let ya'll know my opinion when I give it a fair chance.

I also dislike all of them exept Death Note, but the last episodes were crap. And I think is good you see the first chapters to know if you like them or not.

Yes, the manga is ongoing, but defintely not the anime: In fact, it's already finished in the East with 51 episodes.

Uh, last time I checked, there were over 400 One Piece episodes and several movies...

A few of them are dubbed and are over here in the States, but I don't recommend watching the dub, solely because of Black Star's English voice actor (it's veeeery Naruto-like).

Which dub: 4Kids or FUNimation?

Soul eater blows. Not one of the characters becomes a deathscythe, the story is straight doo doo, the only memorable fight scene was the one between the headmaster and supafinalbossguy, and I hated the shitty "black blood" nonsense they were throwing out. Really didn't enjoy it.

I was talking about Soul Eater, not One Piece. I don't watch one Piece, though my little brother and one of my friends do. The weeaboo faggots* watch them in raws.

*this is irony, as I'm the one that watches the obscure shows, knows some Japanese, and why yes, I'm also gay.

And the difference between One Piece and Soul Eater is that One Piece doesn't blow.

I hate almost all the english dubbing, so I have to see in japanese and subtitulate.
Anyway someone knows a good re´nai game without, pornography.

Some anime is better dubbed, liked Cowboy Bebop, Shin Chan, Lupin, Outlaw Star, and such.

So, I just marathoned the Kara no Kyoukai movies 1-6. Pretty good, but at some points it was a little hard to get into. I would like more explanation, but in that genre, explanation is rare.

Most actually. Anime in most of the 90's suffered greatly from hard translations, poor voice direction and heavy censorship and editing. Nowadays, anime has very respectable and amazing voice acting and direction with a carefully translated script. Black Lagoon for example.

Anyway, I find people who are sub-only with no clear reason other than an ignorant and dated hatred to be elitist faggots. I suggest this for anime fans, watch the first episode dubbed, then the next episode subbed. then decide what personally feels more natural and better sounding to the characters of the show.

I still find that many Anime dubs are lacking in good voice talent. The performances tend to sound very unrealistic and awkward, with a few exceptions.

However, this is the case with Japanese language tracks as well. It's not as if Japan actually has better voice actors than America. It's just a case of not being able to notice when the performances are lacking.

I just listen to the Japanese voice track because I'm learning Japanese. There are a few anime that I use the English dubs for, but that's really only when the sub voices are noticeably bad (like, for example, with any anime containing those annoying high school girl characters, which spend all their time talking in crazy high pitched voices and making overly cutesy nonsense sounds uguu~).

English is not my first language. Even though I understand it perfectly well, when watching Uk or US shows, I tend to have finnish subs. I'm used to subs. Why should I change it for Anime? THe original animation is done to fit the Japanese voice, and I really donn't require understanding of the language to understand emotions conveyed through a voice.

The only good dub I have seen is the one of Full Metal Alchemist and Get Backers.

Response to Anime Club 2010-01-01 20:13:02

I think all dubbing besides the original dub is stupid, unless the original is really shit or something.
Watching anime with an english dub is for me the same as watching an american movie with a japanese dub. Its stupid.

Holy shit. Moé K-ON Wartime anime.

*learns that main character is dumber than Yui Hirasawa*

Pass.

I'll stick with Katanagatari, Durarara!!, and Ookamikakushi.

Hey! Can any of you here help me on finding a song from an anime? Here's the link: click. I'm trying to find out what the name of the song that's played at 5:38 is. It's from the anime Gantz and the video is from the very last episode... so there's the spoiler warning.

I'd really appreciate if any of you would help me find out the name of the song OR at least a download to the song without the voices.

Oh, and I had nowhere else to go but the anime club so... yeah

Is it because you hate Shin Chan or the dub? Either way, you can come down here and suck a fart out of my ass. Shin Chan is rad.

The 2006 dub pisses me off to no end. They used 4Kids' old tactic of ripping everything out and starting from the beginning, NOWHERE CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL PLOT. Sure, the jokes are distasteful and slightly funny, but when you get right down to it, it's so bad it makes me want to kill Gen Fukunaga even more than I already do.

Also, they recycled names from the 1994 dub.
Mendou also wrote:
Also, Shin Chan is indeed funnier in english.

Have you seen any of the original series and compared them for yourself?

Just google "Gantz ost" and (LEGALLY OF COURSE) grab the soundtrack for the show.

Couldn't find one with the song I was looking for

So, I watched chrome shelled regios. Why can't I find anything good to watch? The only thing half bearable was the socially inept psychokinetic loli chick.

I haven't seen anything that I would consider good since akagi, which is manliness at it's best. I was thinking of watching Saki, but then I remembered I don't know mahjong rules.

Also remembered that I have a sack.

I've been starting to catch up on some older series I haven't watched, right now I'm watching Fist of the North Star and loving it. Yeah, it's pretty cheesy, and animation isn't amazing, but it is just multiple levels of badass.

You're an alt, aren't you?

I know what you're trying to do: you're trying to get me so pissed off I threaten something, and then your pet mods come and lock this thread and ban me and then you start a rant on your blog about I'm a stupid whore bitch and I can't stand up for myself because I'm locked out of my account. It's happened before; I know the pattern by heart.

Plus, I may need to remind you that FUNimation removed or censored out quite a bit of the characteristic nudity that made Shin Chan so famous *cough*Mr. Elephant*cough*.
