Watching the TV series

Ehhhhh I hope you enjoy it.

Better read the manga next, and then watch Hellsing Ultimate.

never heard of this. I'll check out the rest later. I don't listen to a lot of rap, but I like a few tracks. I'm more into instrumental hip hop, trip hop, and the like. I still haven't gotten the non-instrumental version of the Unseen, which I intend to do, especially since the instrumental version of Come on Feet omits a lot of the things that make the song good, including the Fantastic Planet samples.

I can't wait for that to come out on DVD over here.

Yoko Kanno (Ghost in the Shell, Darker Than Black S1, etc),
Koh Otani (Endless Waltz, Shadow of the Colossus)
Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill)
Shoji Meguro (SMT)
Toshihiko Sahashi (Gundam SEED, FMP)
All of the composers involved with Okami (Yamaguchi, Kondoh, Ueda)

Off the top of my head, with some of the work they've done. I know I'm forgetting a few.

It's the same for me.

I stumbled upon UD two months ago, and they're great. Nice and original production, lyrics, beats, etc. Taste the Secret, and Audacity are probably their most accessible albums.

The new Makoto Shinkai movie Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo has been ripped and posted on BSS and THORA so far for whoever is interested. I have work tomorrow so I am probably gonna either watch it tomorrow night or Saturday. Just looking at a few screenshots of it gives me orgasms though.

I just started getting into anime relatively recently, and now that I'm almost done with Baccano! and just finished Neon Genesis Evangelion I'm looking for the next thing to watch. Aside from those shows, Akira, and all the obvious Studio Ghibli films the only things I've really watched are Cowboy Bebop (which I loved) and FLCL (which I've now watched four or five times and has pretty much become one of my favorite TV shows of all time).

Any recommendations? I've heard good things about Paranoia Agent...

Check it out.

Specifically (these are the ones I watched a few years back when I was getting into anime, except for CG):
Death Note (manga's better, but it's still a good show)
Code Geass
Akagi
Now and Then, Here and There
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Kaiji
Monster
Ghost in the Shell

If you're alright with mecha/robot anime:
Mobile Suit Gundam (film trilogy)
Gurren Lagann
Tekkaman Blade

Manga as well:
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (THE BEST)
Berserk
Lone Wolf and Club
20th Century Boys

If you liked FLCL then I recommend Abenobashi Shopping Arcade, it's also by gainax, and it's just as balls-to-the-wall insane as FLCL. But much better in some other respects. Takes a couple of eps to get going though. Don't judge it off the first ep.

Also Tatami Galaxy has some great absurd humour, although some people find it hard to follow because the main character talks so quckly

I'll be sure to check out Abenobashi Shopping Arcade. I really enjoyed Tatami Galaxy when I watched it a while ago as well. I am a slow reader though so at night I wasn't able to watch it at all because I couldn't keep up with the subs while I was tired. I had to watch Tatami Galaxy while I was somewhat alert. I think it is slow enough though so that pretty much everyone can read it, and follow it fairly easily.

You're joking, right?

Just post.

Also, Kermit's just trolling when he says he's leader or whatever. It was LLStark's club, then WonkotheSane's, and now, people just post.

COMMUNISM

Response to Anime Club 2011-12-04 12:06:48

I finally finished chapter three of G-Senjou no Maou and shit was great. It got intense during the later half, and Kanon's end was alright. I found it better than Tsubaki's chapter/route, for sure.

Also played Silent Hill 3. Despite the bad camera, the controls/gameplay were solid and easy to adapt to (although perhaps that's because I'm primarily a PC gamer). Voice acting was okay, but nothing spectacular, but the dialogue/script was good for the most part. Music and sound was where it really shines, and it puts a dreadful feeling on you topped with the gorgeous creature and level design. The only truly repulsive (though not really scary) creature was the final boss; the others might have been grotesque but they were a 'pleasure' to look at. The final boss was also fairly hard, it took a few tries and I had to shut down the game multiple times because I was tired of losing. It was fun when I finally defeated it with a katana/pistol combination.

It's also funny that none of the puzzles were really difficult (hard mode probably proves me wrong though. I'm not too confident with my knowledge of Shakespeare), and the only things that really stump me were FUCKING OBVIOUS. I was actually surprised at the ranking I got endgame because I thought it would be really bad. Turns out I did rather well and earned one of the secrets, a beam saber.

I didn't play it at the night because I'm a fucking pussy -- I bet I would've come close to shitting myself if I had heard any of the discomforting noise.

Sup guys.

I've been watching Persona 4, the only anime I've ever watched, and the guy who was subtitling it is like 3 episodes behind now, so I'm going to have to change to another uploader. I chose this guy entirely at random, but rather than doing that again, I was wondering who does them best?

Commie Subs seems to have rips/encodes all of them, but I'm sure about the quality.

Just search their site for them.

I watched Paprika. Totally trippy but visually appealing indeed. The music was fitting. Lots of good visual effects in the movie.

If you haven't seen it, you should go out and find a way to watch it.

Also, K-ON movie made a lot of money on its opening days/week. Not really surprising at all.

So in my continuing quest to view a bunch of classic movies and read a bunch of classic books that I've missed out on so far, I finally got around to watching Akira, but on my brother's advice I read the manga first.

I gotta say: I don't see why everyone loves the movie so much, but I'm probably just saying that because the manga was so awesome and it's hard to live up to that in movie format.

Coincidentally, this topic's pages have reached 1984 (Orwell). Definitely read that book if you haven't.
I also recommend the films Seven Samurai and Shadow of a Doubt. The latter is definitely my favorite film by Hitchcock.

It's kind of infuriating imo but it's still worth the watch.

I think if you watch it you will understand what I mean by infuriating.
