Really?

Because the short description that I read on the Wikipedia page could not have made me want to watch it less.

"The story centers on Koyomi Araragi, a third year high school student who has recently survived a vampire attack, and finds himself mixed up with all kinds of apparitions; gods, ghosts, mythological beasts, and spirits."

The charm of the series isn't in the "spiritual" thing, or the "high school" thing, it's the true dialogue that's given by the characters. Trust me man, it's something that you haven't seen before.

Also, watched "Welcome to the NHK" and I have to say, wow, that anime was great. Can't belive I waited so long to watch it, considering it's been on my watch list for months.

Also, ane doki's a pretty funny manga, if you like the whole ecchi harem thing.

Read the manga, and you'll find out.

I hate it when people tell me that... But I really do want to know, is there a manga scan-lation free site available?

Finished up Monster. Jesus christ, the anime really didn't need to be that long. the middle section of the anime was mostly filled with filler episodes that would carry on for a good 3 episodes. I liked the beginning, liked the premise, it's just not the psychological thriller that I expected it to be. It was still good, don't get me wrong, just not as good as I wanted it to be. : /

Speak for yourself, there are plenty of good anime that came out in 2007-2009.

Episode 26 was going to tie it all up and end it right where episode 1 started. But, due to lack of funds they had to end it at 25 episodes.

The OVA is in the works but I don't know when it will be released and during what chapters it'll take place.

Episode count, so on and so forth.

Y'know, all this talk of Miyazaki and you guys still haven't mentioned all his films. I don't see Ponyo or the Lupin III movie he did.

Sons, *and one daughter*, I am disappointed.
Miyazaki and you guys still haven't mentioned, Ponyo, Porco Rosso, or the Lupin III movie.
I mean seriously look at his track record: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's delivery service, The Cat Returns, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and now Ponyo.

I did not mention Lupin III, but I mentioned most of the others in my track record post. Only one I think I left out was Nausica: Valley of Wind, because I have yet to see it, no spoilers please...

Here we talk about playing halo, having sex with women, and fixing motorcycles.

Awesome!

How about 8 or so Lupin III episodes he did. Series 1 was great, and I do miss the green suit.

I'd probably go:

Spirited Away = Mononoke > Laputa = Totoro (= Whisper of the Heart) > Nausicaa = Porco Rosso = Kiki's Delivery Service > Cagliostro > Howl

I own Spirited Away, Mononoke, Laputa and Totoro on DVD. All presents from other people. I don't tend to buy DVDs otherwise.

I should see Ponyo some time.

Anime is for people that enjoy to see something with a good story and plot instead of seeing all those stupid and unmature cartoons.

So this is the story all about how...I got stuck at home for a few months after getting surgery and now I'm killing the time by watching anime.

So the deal is that I'm completely new to anime, aside from having brief encounters with Evangelion, and Bleach in the past, and I've been watching some based on more popular suggestions. Basically, I started out on Trigun and Cowboy Bebop, and really enjoyed them both. But now I'm looking for more and I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask for suggestions here.

To help you out, I'd say I was really enjoying the Sci-Fi/Western/bounty hunter themes I encountered in those first two shows I watched and if possible I'd like to know if there's anything similar to them out there. It's also fine if you have suggestions that you give to people who are just getting into watching anime, that you feel need to be seen.

Samurai Champloo is by the same dude as Cowboy Bebop. It's similar in a lot of ways. Check it out.

I'd also recommend Black Lagoon as another action show. It's not entirely the same thing, but it's still a lot of gunfights and action.

And then, irrespective of taste, I'd also recommend these shows:

Ergo Proxy
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Fullmetal Alchemist
Hellsing (OVA)
Kaiji
Last Exile
Paranoia Agent

Those shows should be enjoyable to the average anime watcher.

Both have great American dubs, and Spike and Mugen are voiced by the same guy.

I love just about every anime that has had nazis in it at one point or another. Lupin III is guilty on several accounts for this, even going so far as to impersonate Hitler.

And then, irrespective of taste, I'd also recommend these shows:

Ergo Proxy

Never seen

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

Don't watch the first movie unless you want to sleep.

Fullmetal Alchemist

Didn't they remake it to the manga storyline?

Hellsing (OVA)

Not yet

Kaiji

Not yet

Last Exile

Sounds promising

Paranoia Agent

I love stories where you can't tell what the hell is going on.

Those shows should be enjoyable to the average anime watcher.

What's a super-violence anime that has a decent storyline?

"Slayers" is my personal favorite Anime of all time. The shows are not "western or bounty hunter" themed, more like dungeons and dragons. But most of the OVA's (with Naga) are bounty hunter-ish. They do questing jobs, assassination, protection escorts, and other hired sin jobs. Plus the OVA's have like triple the amount of T&A so I am sure you'd enjoy that. I own the ALL the DVD's, but I might be able to find a few free videos somewhere for you. I found the English dub of "Gorgeous" on youtube, its divided into 6 parts though. Other Slayers OVA's include "Excellent" "Book of Spells" "Great" "Return" and "Explosion Array".

Well, if you want to see something good and don´t lose a lot of time I recommend you Death Note. You can finish it in very few time.
