Since the leaders are banned, I guess I'll post it.

1. Your five favourite anime and a sentence or two about each.
2. What kind of anime do you dislike?
3. What got you into anime?

Why not, but answer these questions; three. Also, keep posts to a minimum of 7 words or more.

#1. What are your top five favourite anime of all time, and explain each throughly.
#2. What are some anime you dislike. You don't have to explain this throughly, but don't be an idiot and say "i don't hate any anime." Come on, not all anime shows are perfect, please do not say that.
#3.Finally, what got you into anime, or who got got you into anime. Explain this rather well,we want a little background info.

Has anyone seen the new anime the Sci-Fi Channel plays on Ani-Monday? It's called "Tactics", and I thoroughly enjoy it. The story is about an albino boy named Kantarou who made friends with youkai, and grew up to become a folklorist and part-time exorcist. There's plenty of action and comic relief in just the right ratio to keep the plot running smoothly. Eight of the twenty-five episodes have already aired, and it will be back on February 11th at 11 PM Eastern; Ninja Scroll is on this Monday night.

I'd say delete some of the Weird Al stuff but I can sympathise because I'm a big fan or Smashing Pumpkins and probably wouldn't delete anything of theirs if I had one.

So yeah, go for a new device filled with J-Music Sir Trivia.

Their pricey, but i think you should get a zune.

Last time i checked, the new one is 80GB. That should more then enough to store a large amount of J-pop and whatever else you want on it.

So I was having a discussion with gendo via Pms about animes like death note and such while I was thinking about black lagoon then it hit me; What if black lagoon and death note were the same unnerverse!

Surely Roanpor would become a massive graveyard because of kira.

DISCUSS.

I picked up a Creative Labs Zen 8GB Video MP3 Player at Circuit City for around $150, and so far it's exactly what I've been looking for: It syncs up with Window Media Player without difficulty (my computer has failed to recognize the last five MP3 players I tried), has plenty of room for all of my stuff and an expansion slot if I ever need more memory, a display that gives me all the information I want about the song playing - title, album, artist, time elapsed, and time remaining - so I can decide if I have time for the next song (I usually listen to my MP3 player on my break at work), and it came pre-loaded with a few sample songs that are pretty good.
Unfortunately, as soon as I solved my MP3 problem, Window Media Player decided to act up; for some odd reason, it won't read my playlists. This means I'll probably have to just load all of my anime theme songs out of order and try to construct the playlist on the device. Grouping tracks by series will be a very time-consuming process, but I'll have a couple of days off work after Super Tuesday (the twenty or so state primary elections).
By the way, does anyone know which anime have really good theme songs?

WE HAVE A WINNER!!! Zen's are the only MP3 player I trust... I need a new one. But, I have about 50 burnable CDs, so.... I'm good.

It also works with Winamp too... a non-shitty music application.

Ergo Proxy, Hellsing, Hokuto no Ken, etc. Ask for more later.

Nah, Mendou's not stupid enough to post in a thread when he could just comment on a blog.

Anyhow, Sense-Offender, don't worry....I was pissed too when that happened, but I kept watching and it actually picked up and made it better. All of the other characters feel the same as you (rofl) and it's actually a main turning point for Simon, I guess. It turns epic after Simon learns to live with it.

And I'm checking out the dub now. It'd better not be shitty.

Sorry, but ADV is behind Gurren Lagann... Since they're the epitome of bad anime, and the ruiners of Geneon they blatantly want people to hate them, and hate anime. The only thing you can do is hope they fucking fluke this one, and make a good dub somehow.

Also, since Gainax hates Canada, Gurren Lagann won't reach Canada. At all. Hell, we haven't even got FLCL yet. Which is good, because FLCL is over-rated, and only good ONCE. Now it's a mediocre OVA series with generic Gainax plot. However, Gurren Lagann was badass, despite them adding "ROW ROW, FIGHT THA POWA" into breaks. Anyway, the dub will likely be bad, and it will be huge in america, because it has the label "From the Studio that brought you Neon Genesis Evangelion" slapped on it. God damn I hate ADV so much.

I don't like the idea of a "leader". If the Anime Club has a leader, what would he lead us to? No, it's unnecessary. Senior members would be a better term for what you're trying to convey.

I concur. I was once the leader of this club for a few days, and I couldn't handle the pressure I placed on myself. Being a senior member, however, is much less strenuous.

On another subject, I've loaded all of my anime music onto my new mp3 player. As soon as I remember the order it goes in, I can make it a playlist.

B-B-B-B-BACK!

In my absence, I've....

- Started watching Maison Ikkoku (incredible show, better than the manga)
- Experienced Black Lagoon: Second Barrage dubbed (Hansel's voice is a bit brattish, but Gretel and the returning cast are amazing)
- Forced myself to endure that Gurren Lagann trailer (fucking Christ, it makes the show look awful)
- Ordered an unholy amount of merch (four statues, two non-scale figures and a t-shirt)

Response to Anime Club 2008-02-06 14:11:53

Welcome back Gendo! I have not watched the Gurren-Lagann trailer yet. I really hope it isn't any indication as to what the dub is going to be like though (if it's really that bad).

Oh, it looks like it'll be quite indictative of the quality.

ADV is trying to sell this as FLCL 2: NOW WITH MORE FANSERVICE!

Which is odd, because the trailer is totally contrary to all the actual hype surrounding the show coming from fans and critics.

Who knows? Maybe this will just be grossly innappropriate misadvertising, the dub could very well treat the show with dignity and spark a resurgence in popularity for /m/ in the United States.

You know what I love about Scrapped Princess?

How it totally throws all ridiculous fantasy cliches to the wind, without feeling like some kind of elaborate parody.

Sort of Slayers for a more serious crowd.
