I hate having to explain this to the clearly oblivious members of society.

Spartans: White super-men (aside from the one who escaped the eugenics process (which brings about another horrible message the film conveys: Kill your retarded young before they bring about your downfall)), with about the manliest leader ever.
Persians: Horrible, mutated monsters who are terrible at fighting, with a completely and obviously androgynous leader who keeps them all as slaves.

And to make matters worse, the Persian mutants were added into the movie, and weren't part of the comic book.

Guys-- Stop fighting. Your both right in a way, cyberdevil apparently really likes that anime and theres nothing you can do about it, like trying to keep me away from bleach or fma. 300 is racist and is not a masterpiece or in any way alike with Elfen Lied, they probably aren't even that smilar violence wise! But I wouldn't know since I only read the book, not watched the movie.

Lol.

Anyway I have a story to tell......

As you may or may not be aware of I am a member of the Metal hell club. We were discussing fantasy metal and someone said the name of a band I have never heard of before, "Ayreon." I figured that it wouldn't hurt to spare 10 minutes on youtube looking at music videos(Not Piracy, i'm just looking at music videos to decide if I would buy a cd of theirs and/or download them on my Ipod.) when this amv caught my eye. Since around 7 or 8 animes I watch are sort of medieval like this one I guess it wouldn't hurt to my list of animes, if any of you have seen that anime can you tell me if you liked it or hated it? I'm gonna watch the first episode today dispite what you guys say but if you guys have seen it, it would be good to somewhat of a idea as to what too expect. Thank you.

I found a new anime and checked out a new band I like in one video, I win.

I believe the anime is called "Berserk" but i'm not positive.

Also I DO realize this is probably a "generic shonen anime", but I don't care because it looks entertainning.

Yes.

Not to mention it blatantly rips off every Luc Besson film ever.

You forgot how all the Black characters were darker than coal and shown as pure evil, not to mention how the Chinese ones were yellow-skinned "magicians".

Also, Anoween '07 was fucking awesome. Won first place in the improv comedy competition, got volume one of Desert Punk and some kinda Appleseed figure (my partner got volume nine of Patlabor and a Jean Havoc keychain).

Any of you here watched Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni? I've watched some vids on youtube and it looks preaty violent with lots of blood and gore. Probably more than Elfen Lied

Here is hoping for an ova.

Hahahahaha, oh Lord.

Yes, not to mention she was the only Millenium soldier Sturmbahnfuhrer Montana Max had any respect for.

Man i love Hellsing because sometimes i can't tell if im reading a dark vampire story or some odd ball comedy with Nazi's.

I believe that was Hirano's intention, and I'm glad that Dark Horse caught on to the fact it is supposed to be a kooky genre-mixing piece of surrealness. The plot summaries on the back of each volume are very fitting and quite accurately describe the tone of each story without trying to make it seem like either a straight horror or a straight comedy.

Also i watched the premiere of Death Note on AS the other night as well. It was alright but i don't see how this turned into a 30+ episode long series. Seems like it could have just been a 12-13 episode series.

12 volume manga + insane popularity = source of Death Note's length

13 episodes would not have done it justice, but then again, the 37 episodes didn't exactly do things right either.

I just wish Death Note was a totally diferent series with a completely different pace and without the silly second arc.

Not something you'd want to admit here.

It's almost as bad as Elfen Lied, right down to the pathetic attempts at humor.

It also has an atrocious dub.

Geneon didn't do it justice I'm afraid. Also, Elfen Lied had a even shittier dub. I mean, all that boring dialogue, plus the nonsensical gore, and nudity. Add the english cast, and it calls for a brain aneurysm. How do people who previously did Azumanga Daioh characters get on that shit fest?

I can only think of a few animes which have particularly good endings; many others just seem to be like "meh, well at least it wrapped everything up".

Different opinions. It was better than having a cliff hanger(Well it did have a cliff hanger but it was wrapped up in the movie) or ending with filelr episodes like rurouni kenshin.

I'm gonna watch the first episode of Berserk just a tad bit later, i'm a bit busy now.

It's almost certainly not going to be released in Autumn this year.

I loved it....it was amazing, and I feel you with that last episode. I think it did kinda drag on a bit around the middle, after the beginning of the last arc....as in, not much was really happening when it should have been....I didn't like the ending very much, but I still kinda liked it....it was a great ending, nothing I was expecting, and served the series justice. Just not what I was hoping for.

I'd recommend it to anyone....I just wish it would have gone on longer, and that it didn't make it so.....final. The only thing that can possibly happen now is a few OVAs of Ginny and Darry....nothing including the great original characters. If they can pull off OVA's of the original characters, I'll be a happy camper....but I don't see any possibility at all.
