Hey fellas, I know I'm not a familiar face around these parts, but I just wanted to toss my two cents.
I just finished Kurokami today (the dubbed version - the English voice acting was superb compared to your more typical examples, imo), overall I really loved it. I could say a ton about it, but what I was really impressed and enthralled by was the character development and the plot. I didn't really like the battle system at first, seeing as Keita's role was so passive and he himself rubbed off on me as being so wimpy for a good portion of the episodes - but later I grew to appreciate it more as he grew stronger and became more committed and involved in the struggle. But most of all, Kuro really made the anime. Just her personality and her character as a whole was simply uplifting and kept me on my seat. A cute girl who's kind, loyal, and loving, and can kick some serious ass at the same time? Can't beat that, amirite?
The ending was also wonderful and I'll try my best to avoid any spoilers. The resolution to it all was so bittersweet, it gave me chills.
Personally, I'd highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't watched it. Normally I'm not much for the fantasy genre from past experience, but Kurokami really changed my perspective on things. I just might have to pick up the manga, and that's going completely against my nature (as I'm not much of a book person in any way, shape, or form). It just left that big of an impression on me.
God, I'm still kinda feeling all floaty from the ending.... (@____@)
