Nope, racist action flicks really don't stimulate my desire to research the history of Asia Minor.

You've obviously never played Age of Empires II. You're a horrible person. Die in a fire.

I went to a game shop looking for Guilty Gear XX (or any of its variants) today.

I was quite impressed with how cheap some of the anime series' were.

Serial Experiments Lain was there for $50 NZD.

I was thinking about buying it, but I decided not to.

True story.

I never did find Guilty Gear XX in the several stores I looked in, though.

The final fight is the only reason to watch that episode. It's only like a 4 minute ending. The ending was perfect in my opinion.......with the exception of that one thing.

I recall playing the trial version and enjoying it.

I need more RTS games in my empty life.

Not too suprising, I bought the original version of XX the day it came out and I've only seen about three copies of it in a store since.

I've got Warcraft III and its expansion.

I think I'm up to the Orc campaign on the non-expansion.

I should play it more.

Not too shabby, there.

The only other things I took notice of were the Ranma seasons for 70 or 80 dollars.

But they weren't in fancy boxes.

The newest version (accent core) is coming out for the Wii in February.

Perhaps I'll be able to secure a copy at that time.

Or perhaps I'll have to import it from the UK or something.

The only Ranma stuff you'll find in stores in this country is the occassional individual volume from one of the last two seasons in a department store bargain bin.

I managed to get like half of season seven that way.

But they weren't in fancy boxes.

Shame.

The newest version (accent core) is coming out for the Wii in February.

I know, it looks totally badass.

Now all I need is a Wii, but since February be my month of birth, I cannot rule out the possibility of obtaining one.

I suppose I'm lucky concerning Ranma then.

Too bad I don't want to buy it, nor will I ever.

Lain is a possibility if I like it enough.

Is it coming out for Wii in Canadia in February, too?

All I know is that it's coming out in Europe at that time, and things usually come out in Oceania around the same time.

And I think it's on the PS2 too.

Still, I'll be saddened if I get it due to the lack of a story mode.

All I'm saying is that Ranma 1/2 is a horrible series, and is even more terrible than Naruto and Elfin Lied combined.

I'd much rather have my eyes gouged by a rusty ice pick than watch another episode.

12.50 for a DVD.

I believe so.

I hope it at least gets a release here.

I can't say I've ever seen Guilty Gear in a store before.

Yup, it is.

I'd get it for the PS2, but I don't actually own one.

My brother does, but he's planning on moving out.

I've got seasons one and two (the good ones) plus the parts of six and seven that didn't suck, so I'm content for now.

Yeah, 70 bucks is a bit much to spend on something for the sake of childish spite, especially childish spite over the internets.

I have enjoyed Lain so far after 2 episodes.

It's weird enough to be noticeably weird, while I still manage to know basically what is going on.

Cannibalism is rampant enough in situations like that, but with a fucking ham hanging off your wrist, you're an even more obvious target.

But the ham could work to your advantage due to its weight.

It could be used as a blunt object with which you could kill the others.

Very true, but what if you ended up outnumbered?

Plus, the loss of energy from hunger and exposure would make the ham heavy and hard to wield with lethal effiency

You could have also made the argument that a ham is a much less effective weapon than say... A rock.

And on desert islands rocks tend to be somewhat abundant.

Yes, but that's too obvious.

Not to mention I wanted an excuse to use the phrase "lethal efficiency" (which, due to foolish error and the late hour, I initially spelt incorrectly) in reference to a foodstuff.

So i started watching avatar the last air bender last week. When i sat to watch this i was already thinking that i was sitting on a boat set to fail. From what i had heard i was expecting some sort of naruto teen titans cross over so i was already regretting it. Well to my surprise i like it. The reason for this is that the show has an actual story line unlike the other anime western like shows and it was meant to only run for three seasons.

no shit sherlok. avatars cool. the third seasons coming in a couple weeks. i think the entire things really cool, and it does have a storyline! and after the third season it will probaly fail cus after he beat the firelord the shows ujust gonna degrade or somthing....i dont know...

Care to elaborate on your views on the show.

It's not a real anime, and it's basically a show meant for children. As in 8 year old kids. basically a watered down Naruto. Since we all know how bad naruto is, Avatar is just as shit.

Besides, the only thing particularly anime about it is the eyes.

Don't go being a cunt, Tosoff.

Avatar is actually tolerable compared to every other recent kids' show, not to mention the animation is technically sound.

Instead of pissing all over it for "not being anime" or whatever other reason, try actually watching some of it.

God, the recent American kids shows I've seen are absolutely horrid, though.

The only thing I turn the cartoon channels on for anymore is to watch Spongebob or Justice League.

Same here, they're painful to watch.

I want to murder the bastards responsible for the shit that infests Cartoon Network these days.

The only thing I turn the cartoon channels on for anymore is to watch Spongebob or Justice League.

I've fallen behind in both series.

I used to watch Spongebob religiously and Justice League used to occupy the half-hour block on Friday nights before the good late-night anime (Witch Hunter Robin, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, etc.) last year.

Oh, and sometimes to watch Avatar, which I think I've seen at least half of the first season of by now.

I don't think I've ever intentionally sought it out on TV, but what I've seen (give or take six episodes) was certainly worth the time.

Response to Anime Club 2007-10-22 14:59:39

Wait, so is Avatar American made with a bit of Kanji tossed into the title to make it look cool, is it Japanese made for American audiences, or is it just another imported Japanese cartoon?

I'm sure that out of any of those, it's probably better than the shit they put on those networks to entertain children now. There's a reason why Japan doesn't play any American shows (ok, maybe game shows or something....and possibly the Simpsons, that's decent) and we play a shit ton of theirs. Our media is all based on the news, which is the best entertainment for these people.

You gotta think, when we were 8 or so and watched shows on nickelodian and cartoon network and channels like those, the shows then were just as bad. Although we never realized it because we liked them then and were not watching it now in our late teens. I bet if you took a show you absoulatetly loved as a kid and watched it now you wouldn't think as highly of it as you did then. I know from expirence when I thought I would watch a episode of digimon(Which I loved as a little kid) just for kicks and nostalgia. I was greatly disappointed.

Conclusion; All american kids shows are shit, even some japaneese kid shows are! *Cough cough* NARUTO! *Cough cough*

I could look back at most of those old shows and still enjoy them....they actually tried. Digimon is a great exception....I think it's still mildly entertaining, but not too great. Some old American cartoons had a bit of a mind behind them, but now it's just all shit, along with some good anime thrown in. I'm thinking old shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog, or the old Ed Edd n' Eddy, and even Mike Lu and Og. I don't watch it in my spare time, but I sure as hell could be entertained by watching it...recent stuff is just a whole bunch of random shit thrown together by people who think they're funny. The kids don't know the difference, so no problem I guess, but they're going to be sad when they're looking back.
