For you, is that necessarily a good thing sans filler (e.g. the order in which events happen and so on)?

And more Aruru for her being so damn cute.

Possibly the best one-liner ever.

Very much agreed.

Yep, that's the ticket.

Plus,at least the manga's cannon-fodder villains (Tubalcaine Alhambra, anyone?) are unreasonably cool.

Yes, because the free posters, steelbook boxes with alternate cover art by Kouta Hirano and other freebies (beautifully scultped relief figurines with volumes one and three, an over 200 page long artbook with volume two) are well worth the price.

*facepalm*

A beautifully sculpted relief figurine, dunce. I said that in my whorish endorsement. Father Anderson gets immortalized in PVC this time around.

The poster and steelbook are Integra, Seras and a shadow-covered Walter, which looks far cooler than the slightly boring drawing of Seras on the regular edition's cover and poster.

If you really look, you can find the boxsets for as little as $35.

That said, I went all out and bought Hellsing Ultimate I: Limited Edition from a local shop for $68. I haven't seen a copy of it anywhere but the internet since.

I also missed the chance to get the boxset of Hellsing II, since I didn't have enough to buy it on top of the Haruhi boxset and some Kashimashi on Robert's and then impulsively bought the regular edition for the sake of getting friends to watch it.

Holy fuck, Amazon...

Wow, I didn't notice that the disc (like Haruhi's volume one boxset) is actually now out of print, hence nigh-unobtainable.

Sux2bu, glad I bankrupted myself getting both while I still had the chance.

We all must make sacrifices.....

Yeah, we must.

Well I finished watching The Ugly Yet Beautiful World. It was...meh. About equal to Kashimashi. Could have been better, but just had too many "feelings". The "final battle" was also a really really really big let down. The main character's transformation had so much potential too! It could rip off the spines of a creature and fuse those with its body to make wings (Gurren Lagann?) or blades.

Best episode was, of course, the Beach one. Like other Gainax shows, they aren't shy about showing the girls naked.

Hahaha, you and your blasphemous opinion on Kashimashi.

My obnoxious over-opinionated nature aside, I have to say nothing about This Ugly Yet Beautiful World appealed to me, so I avoided it.

I'd just wait around for Gameplanet to start selling the collections for like... Half the price of the normal DVDs like they usually do, if I was going to buy Hellsing.

But that tends to be because I'm less of a whore for extra's, and really have no money.

There is a chain of stores which specialise in second-hand but valuable goods in Japan, though I forgot whether they deal with DVDs as much as I think they do. Neither do they think they have a website so that guy will just have to push his luck there.

I seem to remember them translating 'moe' as 'turn ons' in the second episode of Haruhi.

As far as I remember it means something along the lines of 'an attraction to anime or video game characters, so I suppose "turn ons" would have been an appropriate translation.

Then again, I could be wrong.

Which wouldn't be surprising.

At that particular instance, it is appropriate but much has been lost in the translation as the term 'Moee' is culture-specific and someone simply seeing it being used would not know why a word used for 'budding' is used in that context.

Then again, I could be wrong.

Which is why people who do their homework properly like me exist.

It's just that sometimes I don't find it necessary to look up certain words or phrases that would almost never come up in a conversation (or on a test).

For those who need such depth or the lazy (borderlining between fan and weeaboo), yes.
But it sure as hell helps if you're going into the industry or want to learn about it more in-depth.

Like I emphasise, it's important to have a strong knowledge foundation.

It is, but I don't even know every slang word in English, why would I need to know every one in Japanese?

I suppose knowing what 'moe' means would be useful if anyone used it as 'having an interest in' (which I believe it can be used as).

Other than that I can't see it coming up.

I never said you need to know everything, I am referring to the fact that knowing a lot of one thing is important, especially if you are going to use it often.

I suppose knowing what 'moe' means would be useful if anyone used it as 'having an interest in' (which I believe it can be used as).

That definition would lead to all kinds of akward situations.

The use of that bit of English might not be the case in Japan since Rule 34 applies to almost everything (Though not always pornographic in nature).

Which is unfortunate that some people won't pursue their interests further, unless of course they intend on sticking to dubs forever or have better things to do on the "getting a good career going" level or higher.

...

I did a bit more homework on Utawarerumono regarding costumes, and Hakuoro's outfit seems like a new candidate to work with.

I wonder how I should make the mask though; clay, wood or something more accessible and refittable...
