Is it just me or is the portal getting filled up with more and more of the same old shit. Everytime I go to deposit and get some blam/protect points I find myself on another poorly made quiz about something no one really cares about. Or another one of those "I'm a button. Press me." submissions that could be made by a 3 year old.

It's been going on for a long time now. People are just looking to submit something that doesnt get blammed, so they use old recycled ideas they know have proven themselves in the past.

It wont stop anytime soon either, we can just hope that the 5% of flash artists that put out Original GOOD content will keep doing so.

I agree with increasing the standard of passed flashes, every time I go to search a flash I get about 20 of the same tutorials, 12 parodys, 7 quizzes, 4 kitty krew submissions, 1 half arsed submission... and maybe, just maybe: what I was looking for :(

For anyone that cared I was out for the past few days, i cant imagine i missed much and i dont feel like making a long post but in a nutshell me the-swain, senti and others were at the ng office to hang out with the boys. More on that at a later point but it was very cool to go there and like discuss things without the crazyiness and drinkathons that are mod meets... i came back with a greater understanding of the site and where tom is going with it... really cool ideas and concepts are comin down the pike. Obviously im not at liberty to discuss but newgrounds will get a bit more multifaceted... i noticed theres a bit of low morale with the portal and shit... but the site itself is always moving forward and its almost amazing that tom and them can continue to strive to tweak the secret sauce and give its users a bit more.

Skiing

I went skiing for the first time today since I was 11 years old... it was interesting to see how much I remembered from then. I did pretty well, no black diamond courses yet but I managed to do a lot of blue squares. It was fun.

If it didn't happen with the redesign, it's probably not happening soon. Yes, the portal is mostly garbage, but if you put on too strong of a filter, it destroys the idea that anyone can be part of the community. Sometimes someone only needs a protection to keep going and improve their craft. If you don't wanna see these Flashes (and I don't either), just roll over and see their score. Gard, the good ones are highlighted in Green and Blue, what more do you want?

Skiing

It's a lot easier to learn to ski than it is to learn to snowboard. Me and my friend traded one day, myself being a boarder and him being a skiier. It wasn't too hard to pick up, fell a couple times just because I was used to a board. He sucked huge though, he could barely stand up.

Snowsports

Every winter I get so into snowboarding, it's insane. I don't know what it is about snowboarding, but it's like my perfect sport. The adrenaline rush when you take a jump or decided to do a 'Time Trial' down a hill. The cold air whisking across your face. The annoying little kids always cutting you off...

I just love it, snowsports are definitely my thing. Also, landed my first 360 Frontside Air. Needless to say I was stoked as all hell.

I was actually not too bad at skiing when I tried it today, which is weird cause I usually suck at any and all sports. I don't do tricks or anything yet, but i could go down the mountain.

Well I don't suck at all sports. Just every one that requires running, throwing, catching, jumping, or tackling. Ones that are 90% hand-eye coordination I'm pretty good at, or ones that are balance-related (snowsports, biking, etc). We play volleyball in gym class for like 2 months straight, my height gives me a really big advantage in that.

180 to 360 was probably the hardest gap for me...
once you get 360's solid it's just hucking it harder and hitting a decent sized kicker for the 5.

Long enough for my computer to die.

Well, not so much "died" as is in a Terry Schaivo like state.

I can run Windows... in a temporary profile.

Which means anything not in my program files on C... is gone for the time being.

All weekend I spent on my menu. gone. AFD6. gone.

All I can hope that I can salvage those two files.

Fuck my music. Fuck my movies. Fuck my pictures. Fuck my porn.

All I want right now are those two files.

So, I'm going to take my laptop to school tomorrow and see if anything can be salvaged.

It appears all the info is still there, but there is a "corrupt local file"...

I'm fucking tired of this. My computer is a piece of shit, but it was an expensive piece of shit with a lot of important shit on it.

I experienced a problem similar to this in the past actually. But in my case, I got the Blue Screen of Death. Pretty much sucked, since I couldn't quite get to ANY files nor anything on my computer so I had to take out my harddrive and put it into another computer. I got Circuit City to do it, but they fucked up and only saved my pictures and not my past Flash Files and movies, so I lost mostly all my past work. Luckily, it gave me a new ground base to step up my game and do everything over. Still sucked that I lost alot of my work though.

Computer Crash
That really sucks, sorry to hear that. All Flash developers want are a working computer and software, and so many times it seems that one or the either always seems to flip out on people.

I dunno if you guys have already seen this kinda thing, but it's pretty awesome to look back at the old NG layout. Sadly they don't cache flash files, but everything else seems pretty well preserved. As someone who first came across NG in 2001, I never got to see it the first time round. Now I can!
