You can't be both.

I was raised protestant, but am now atheist. I'm not atheist-protestant.

Alright I don't want everyone to laugh at me again, but what I meant was my parents are Jewish; I consider it almost like a nationality, just I don't believe in the whole religious part. Also some of you can be very critical just because of someone's age.

Greeting Cards
I am very anti-greeting card. People actually expect me to send them thank-you cards after calling them up and saying "Thank You" over the phone, which I feel is much more personal.... and then people get riled up when they don't get the $3 piece of paper in the mail.

Does anyone feel the same way?

I think some formal events warrant them, like weddings or graduation and such. What is it you're thanking people for?

College
What colleges are everyone going to, planning on going to, went to? What does everyone want to study (did you study)?
I personally just got into CCS with a 24,000$ scholarship for animation and digital media.

I am thanking people for sending me gifts, in general.

But even for weddings and graduation, man! I can't call someone up and talk to them, be social, and be gratuitous then!? It also requires a piece of paper (that will end up being thrown away anyway) that says thanks once again?

I mean, if it was my wedding, I just gave you an open bar and free food, and an entire party. All you paid was a toaster present, which is like $20 total or $10 if you count your date paying as well. I mean, people should be calling ME to thank me.

But man, card culture just irks me. I have offended way to many people by not sending Christmas thank you letters, even though I make sure to call everyone.

Greeting cards

I like greeting cards, but im biased because i like getting things in the mail in general.

I actually hate talking on the phone so i find that greeting cards are a perfect way to look like you care without having to throw yourself on the line. I was considering sending tom some sort of interesting thingamabob.. i havent figured out what yet.. i dunno sending people anything i think is a really nice gesture especially when they dont expect it..

Re: Religions
I don't really believe in God but i don't believe that God doesn't exist, i just don't know what to believe yet, until I know more. I don't think any scientists today can really prove that there is no sort of 'supernatural' power or a God or something that we can't understand, because no big-bang, evolution theories or what-so-ever contradict religion. However even though i don't believe in anything, i agree that religion is a very good thing for some people and it brings comfort to people who look for 'answers' and prefer believing that they will go to heaven or something rather than the complicated theories of science. So I don't have anything against religious people, but some of them are starting to go too far.

Lmao. Yes, end of religion topic XD.

Current Projects?

Anybody have a concept or something they've actually begun to work on? I've just started a new series called "Blood". I like the way my character concepts are turning out and I've got a pretty solid script for the first episode. Now I just need 2 voice actors and I can begin main production. I really only need 1, but I would like a female voice for one line.

Did you apply to cal-arts and the like?
Just curious since you went for an animation major.
And if you did and have pieces of your portfolio on line want to link it? I love seeing how animators stand as painters and sketchers and the like.
Speaking of which how would you guys rank yourself in a traditional art sense? Bad, decent, good, great? : Extra <3's for links to non digital work.

I personally just got into CCS with a 24,000$ scholarship for animation and digital media.

I am currently attending University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA with a $36,000 scholarship. I am in the foundation year of the College of Art and Design (within the University) so I am not positive on which major I am going to take. I am most likely going to end up the Graphic Design route, but I am talking an animation elective next semester so I'll see how that goes. I feel like Graphic Design offers more jobs and a more well rounded education and animation seems relatively limited. That's not to say regardless of what I do I won't be taking many animation classes, that just won't be my focus.

Since I pretty much feel like I went through hell when looking for a college and the whole application process, if anyone wants any information on colleges on the east coast or what art school has to offer from a first hand experience I'd love to offer what I've come to learn, to make it somewhat easier on you. Please anyone PM and I'll help where I can. I'm only doing this because when I was looking for a college I didn't really have anyone to ask this stuff to, I am the oldest kid in my family so it was a first for my parents as well.

Ya it worries me to go and apply to an art school with animation as my focus as I'm worried that on the off chance I got in and I decide to go my focus might change.
Cool shit AS, I'd be curious to see your drawing from life (that must have taken forever to link =P).
I guesse it doens't really matter if you go to an animation school or not in regards to job oppurtunity other than the fact that than you have a better foundation in animation not to mention all the practice. Seeing as most studios really just take your demo real into consideration.

USC offers an animation major and it would allow me to take other non animation based courses if I chose to go there. Grades aren't that big an issue I'm not a sure in but I'm a sextile thing in gpa above it for now.

I don't think I can really thing about it that much or plan to go to an art school for a while seeing as who knows how my interests may shift over the next year/year and a half. I need to start working in different mediums other than pen graphite. A friend of mines grandfather has a painting studio that he's gotten to shakey to use. He has plenty of oils I should start mooching that space and get painting.

I had that exact same concern, i actually got into rhode island school of design on an illustration major.. and the ringling school of design on an animation major... well rhode island was flat out too expensive... i woulda been in the same class as seth mcfarlane (of family guy fame) .. and ringling was cool... but i didnt like the area.. i like florida but it was like near west palm beach and i wasnt really interested in hanging out with retired bitches and wrinkled pussy (sorry but good environment matters)... so i ended up going to the corcoran in DC.. it all panned out fine.
Sometimes the school you goto is overrated..

It would be cool to know where everyone is going though for the sake of having people you know going to the school you are going.

Rtil for instance is in digipen

Senti in Philadelphia

Eric Drobile went to Ringling

and Tom fulp briefly went to Drexel.

anyone else i missed?
