WTF? Dreams can come true??? Or are at least possible...

'Kay since I was a brat I've always wanted to make/test video games. Lately me and my friends have been making lots of plans and talkin' 'bout the future. What we realized is we all have dreams that revolve around one thing... Video Games. Some of us want to be animators, some testers, some programmers, some storybourders/script-dudes, etc. We realized that between all of us we have a ton of knowledge and resources. We already know/have some needed programs and between us all we have 4 high-tech computers and 3 crappy ones.
Anyway the main thing here is we realized our dreams could come true. We could all start/become a Video Game Development team/company.
It's like this..... This summer we're all movin' in. Bunking and stuff. We got decent full-time jobs to pay the rent. And here's the big one. I got $50,000 in the bank. I can use that as fall-back and open my own business with business loans and etc. Start up our thing and get going. Make a few game documents and pick one to actually spend hundreds of hours of free time/time away from work/sleep working on it. Finish is and go to Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo with it.

Now I know that may seemed far-fetch and near impossible. Six game-loving dudes making a full-out video game? With only a $50,000 budget? But the main thing is this is the closet any of us have ever been to our dream. This is the first time in our lives we've been passionate about something. It feels great. To actual see your dream infront of you. It's a small chance but, we are all thinking hard on how we can make it a definite possibility.

I don't know... I may sound like some stupid kid that just is daydreamin'.... You guys ever been close to a dream? Or have pulled a Tom Fulp and made two of your life dreams come true?
I'm jumpin' in the shower right now...(I need one). I left ya'll with a good topic to discuse and more random info about me. :P

Dreams can come true

I've read about people who believed and dreamed about stuff they wanted to do enough, that it came true. Just keep believing and it will come true for you too.

Shut up and go away.

..::munny::..

What is that thing made out of? Is it solid? What does it feel like? Are you using the official Munny markers? What are you going to do about the little knob tail thing? Is it bendable/pose able?

It looks awesome, I'm sure it will only improve in awesomeness as you finish it.

25 bucks seems a little much for a little porcelain(?) doll thing though... are they washable I'd hate to stick with the same design for more than a little while =P...

I'm not bitter about not getting into it after graduating. Honest. I'm really happy for the friend who got into Midway and I don't speak to any more. Honest.

Short notice for the UK people. But the London Game Career Fair takes place on Tuesday and has developers from around the world turning up. Go there, get some advice if you're serious about the games industry.

Actually me and a few friends already have a Game Design Document almost done for a big Side Scrolling adventure game with 10+ levels. Just your basic walk around avoid that, shoot this, collect stuff, kill the bosses, etc.
I forced myself over the summer to learn AS by making a standard (somewhat half-assed) side-scroller. I already have most of the programming knowledge for it. Just have been experimenting with bullets and bosses.
Also: Nah, I'm too much of a nice guy at heart. I'd give every equal shares. :)
After all, I gave a few buds of mine $10 each just for doing volenter voice acting for some toons. lol Sort of a token of my appreciation.

I've always been interested in the VG biz since I was a brat. So I've done a few years of research online and junk. I even did it as a career research project in school once. Their is also an Electronic Arts, EB Games Canada, and Volt Entertainment offices around my parts. I always hung around them and talked with some of the dudes that work there on their lunchbreaks and stuff.

Their is also a lot of helpful things out there that let you screw around with stuff at home.

-3dgamestudio
-Video Game Job Oppertunity Search Engines.
-Links to the Game Industry & Game Design Websites.

I've learned a lot of things. For example: Being a tester isn't as fun as it seems. Sure playing a game for 10 hours striaght is normally awesome but, try having to walk into every wall in an area making sure you can't phase through it, landing in every deathtrap making sure it works, and letting the AI kill you different ways, you also got to look out for Bugs. And theirs a whole index of 'em. "A" Bugs, "B" Bugs, "C" Bugs... etc. Then once your done all that you have to write a report one what you found and what worked and what didn't. Then talk amoungst your peers and put all your findings together then present them to the boss. Touph and annoying work. Simular to repeatably testing out flash games after evert little code alteration.

Still beats actually making the game. :-P

I always dream of making a video game. Not as a job pumping them out, but just a game or two every once in a while when a good idea pops up. Kinda like what The Behemoth does.

The Behemoth is really somethin' to look up too. It's really impressive what Tom and they all have done considering Tom works on NG daily and their not the biggest team.

Write every idea down. A friend of mine named Kyle Theissen wrote all his ideas down for a good year. Then got them all together and made an epic RPG game on RPG maker and managed to sell the game somehow to SquareEnix for just over $200. Not much of a profite but considering somewhere out in the world a copy of his game is on a shelf.

Now back to a very important topic... MUNNIES!

Who else is planning to get one now? :3

Retarded Answers to Difficult Problems.

I'm working on a game at the moment thats a platformer. The game is going to have a v-cam in it, but as many know, it causes a lot of problems. Most problems I can fix, but this game is tile based, so the v-cam would cause a lot of snagging on the space where the tiles intersect. I thought this problem was unavoidable, so I went on and built a time based hitTest and all that jazz. I've been working on this time release hittest thing for about 4-5 hours; WHICH WORKED VERY HORRIBLY >:( ; until I thought a little deeper.

When you put the code for a HUD movement under the V-Cam movement, the HUD lags behind the camera, much like in this game.
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/35 8628
So maybe the tiles were lagging behind the camera and thus fucking up the hitTest with the actual tiles. The fix? I just made the layer with the camera on it the bottom most layers, and my problems were solved. And now I'm kind of mad at myself because I didn't figure that out sooner, seeing as I've been having this snagging problem for months now.

Sometimes when I'm working on things such unexplained and STUPID errors happen. And I most of these stupid errors I try to work around. I end up making dozens of lines of code for something that probably only needed 5 or 6. It's like devising a search pattern to find your keys you lost when they're sitting right on your desk.

I'm very skeptical of your friend's story. If I were part of possibly the most renowned RPG developers, I would not attempt to look at the inevitable slew of fanfare and impotent job applications that came in the form of an RPG creation utility that requires no actual programming or art expertise. Not saying it's unlikely that your friend has good ideas, just seems like SE would waste a lot of time sifting through all those sorts of submissions they get.

Levels
I always liked the lvl 15(or 16?) one. The whip. Made me feel kinky. :3
My fav. is lvl 21. The crowbar is so me. But I don't care too much 'bout 'em. I try to deposite everyday. Not sure why..... Maybe because it's just a fun daily thing to do for me... Sort of has become a hobby.

Anyway... Breasts.
