Life vs Virtua Life

I dont play online games but i do enjoy my time online better id say. Its cool to like be up at 3am or whatever and theres always one of my friends online.. be it my aussie contacts or whatever.. i find the online environment very convenient.. I can sort of mold that around whatever my schedule is and i like how flexible it is.

Sure I like going out and doing other shit, but i just see more benefit from being online. I am a firm believer in working hard to play even harder. And so being online allows me to always have something to do and make some money in the process.. but overall i like all the people that provide company no mater when im online. I am a very low key soft spoken person and yet the intrawebs allows me to get a feel for the other side of the spectrum and so its cool.

I would say I like my real life better than my virtual life, though I do cherish my virtual life. I see it as an actual part of my life. But, I must say, a computer monitor cannot supply the sort of necesities RL can. For example, sex, drugs, and liquor ;)

Virtual Reality

I'd like to think i have a reasonably balanced life , eg 2 hours on PC for every 2 1/2 out with friends etc. But i do have some days where i just get addicited to flash or Battlefield 2 :P.

Tests = Over

Has anyone else finished there main tests yet? How does everyone think they've done? Me, i think i've done average, nothing bad, nothing great :).

CS3 Trial

Anything (Except AS3) that people have found handy in the new flash? I'm downloading it now (trial). Nice gadget liaaaam, i voted 5 :).

Good to see you back :D.

CS3 Trial

I tried it briefly on a friends computer, i hate how some tools arent where i am used to them being... ie the rounded box tool, the gradient transform and other stuff....

On the otherhand i just watched the sprite movie on the fp. and the new flash player definately makes heavy filter use more bearable from a performance standpoint... with all the filters and blurs that guy used the player was running it like a champ.

I think i'll wait till the summer to try it out

You're suppose to balance them O_o

Meh... it's been said to death: cs3 sucks. It'll be a high hurdle you gotta jump but I figure it's a stepping stone for the future of flash and thus a necesity if you want to persue any future with flash. I'm probably gonna get my copy after the Rock Out competition.

China

I've been thinking about flying to Beijing in september... anyone been on a really long flight before? And yes this is flash related, because long flights = flash on laptop.

I think the longest one ive been on was 4hrs 10 mins... which was yesterday flying back home.... the thing i find puzzling was that it took longer to fly back from mexico than it does to fly across the united states to san diego.. i mean theres gotta be something wrong with that.. it makes no sense on the map!

Flight Length

Remember that the rotation of the earth has a lot to do with flight length. If you're flying against rotation, the flight will be quicker, and vice-versa.

I never thought of that, good call. The longest flight that I've been on was to Mississippi (sp?) I'm not sure exactly how long it took but i think it was 3-4 hours.

You're not fooling anyone, this couldn't be any more non-flash related, and you know it. ;)

I think the longest one ive been on was 4hrs 10 mins...

The longest I've been on was about 10 hours, London to Florida. I think the flight to Malia (where I'm going this year) is about 3 hours. So it's not so bad.

But why do you want to go to China for anyway? I hear it's full of Commies.

CS3 Features

9-Slice previews. Seriously. 9-Slice scaling is the least known about feature of Flash 8, the most damned useful for making user interfaces, and they went and improved it even more for Flash CS3.

PSD Import and more efficient filters also rock. Especially since you can now copy and paste filters. Oh. And copy and paste motion tweens or copy and paste them as AS3.0 movements will also be nifty.

Read these upgrades in the instruction booklet that came with the UPS shipment that arrived for me yesterday

hash was right. It takes a damn age to install. Not run it yet...

Isn't that like saying if you jump whilst on a moving train you'll hover in the air whilst the train moves forwards and you'll end up moving backwards?

No, if you're standing on the train than you have it's speed. But when the train first starts moving you feel that jolt from the change in acceleration. Now, if you jump high enough than yes, the train will move out from under you because wind resistance will slow your acceleration but the train will stay constant. ;)

I don't think so because when you jump while on in a train be moving at the speed of the train so you'll land in the same spot that you were standing in prior to jumping. Another example is jumping off a skateboard while rolling and landing back on it. You'll keep moving at the same speed. I don't think its the same in the plane. Sorry if I'm wrong :P

So replace the train with the Earth (which spins pretty damn fast), yourself with a plane, and why would the direction you travel make an iota of difference for travel times, other than a need to stop to refuel on places that aren't made out of water? Drag will effect you no matter which way you travel. You're implying that the world spins below the plane as it travels against it, therefore cutting the time in half...

Flash CS3

Did take about 30 minutes to install, and 1gb+! (Accounting for shared components or whatever.. I guess that includes Adobe Bridge and such). The new layout is nice, it's much more efficient than the last one - double click and the panel is gone ^^ The 9 slice scaling is cool, I haven't tried using it in CS3 yet because I've only made 1 thing and that was just AS :P

Long Flights
Leeds to Florida, about 12 hours :/ Other than that it would be Leeds/Manchester to Tenerife, about 4 hours - done that one about 10 times ;P I just watch TV and play on the psp or whatever, so meh.

Flash CS3 Cliches

Is Flash CS3 just opening up a new generation of terrible, terrible filter use like we saw with shape tweens in mx and filters in 8?

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2007-05-11 12:29:07

Nah. Filters aren't new so why should ignorant filter-overusers care.

Jumping on the roof of a train would infact make you move backwards in relation to the train because of the air resistance. It is not the same with the atmosphere but the higher regions still rotate slower than the surface. So it would make a few minute's diffirence.

Well,if it wasn't the same with a plane, someone could jump and would fly way back somewhere and hit the wall because the person would no longer be going the same speed as the plane(which goes pretty fast)

Flight Length Physics Question

It applies to anything moving. Horizontally you travel at the same speed as whatever you're standing on ( earth, plane, train, car, boat, skateboard, horse...whatever). And that veloctiy will remain constant. So if you were standing on a plane and jumped straight up into the air you would theoretically land right back in that spot from which you jumped.
The only thing that makes an impact is as mentioned before, wind resistance. The higher velocity you are travelling, the greater the wind resistance. So there would be way more wind resistance on a plane, than a train or a car. This causes you to slow down, not travel backwards. So if you jumped off a plane you probably wouldnt land back on the plane, but you would still be moving forward.
Uhh...this is flash related because some knowledge of motion and physics is helpful with animating realistically in flash.

The longest flight for me is from Melbourne to LA, I think it was 18 hours or something.

Yeah, I'm drunk. No, you can't tell because I have perfect spelling and grammar when I type. Infact, I'm half asleep as we speak, I only open my eyes for navigating and talking to Fuzz. <3 Fuzz (sex now plz :) )

I work full time as a janitor during my summers for the past 5 summers. It is not a particular hard job and it could be fun at times even. The pay isn't bad either. I would elaborate but my arms are sore from weed-whacking for the entire day.

Too Slow

I hate falling behind a few pages, I lose the ability to comment on things. She goes too fast here sometimes, except when I'm bored and have nothing better to do.

Lip Sink
Checkout my lip sync for uni. Crit would be good.
http://denvish.net/ulf/110507/75045_lip_sync.
php

Flight plan
If you could go faster by going one way than an other (supposing you are above the world and it turn below you, you could simply some distance into thw air and let the world turn around below you and then land again, you would actually need to fly along at all really.
Maybe people are getting confused with time lones.
If we could go into space briefly, then it would work. Maybe tricky though :p

Long Flights
I've flown to Namibia and India, both long flights, I don't remember exactly how long but LONG!

The mouth is good, with the different shapes and w/e but when you talk your chin and jaw move too, so maybe try to show that effect.

Flight Length

I wikipediad it
"There are other components of the Coriolis effect. Eastward traveling objects will be deflected upwards (feel lighter), while westward traveling objects will be deflected downwards (feel heavier). This is known as the Eötvös effect."

It has to do with the shape of the earth cause by rotation and the effect of gravity. I don't know how much of an effect it has on flight lengths though...

I'm a Camp Counselor at a Boy Scout summer camp.

I am an Aquatics Instructor/Lifeguard to be precise.

I get to live with my friends for two months (not unlike college, what with the X-boxes and tvs and stereos and the drinki... Nights Out...)

And for living in a hut and being a dirty boy for 2 months, I get $1,300.

I love it. Best part of my year.
