I'm probably going to be away still...probably depends on shit like the weather. I asked my friend and we're going to be in Myrtle Beach for about a week to ten days starting the 19th.
We'll see.

'PopularArtists'
Why do popular artists count as someone with a B+ or higher B/A. I know I havnt got an A+ B/A but I just think popular artists arnt really popular artists...
Re: Popular Artists
Yeah, but it's just there to give publicity to more movies/games. So what if the person isn't a popular artist, they might be an okay animator that hadn't submitted anything for a while, almost got a daily award, so they put him on the 'more submissions by popular artists' so that he gets recognition for his work.
Meat up
sounds like fun, hope you take lotsa pix for us all (prehaps a sex tape is in order :D!)
Shame i can't go :P
Popular Artists
Think popular artist's is anyone who has at least 3 movies submitted ( therefore, BA) i think..
i'd say a popuklar artist is someone i've heard of... :P
on a different note i may submit somthing tonite, not sure..
Re: Laggy dA
Yeah, it's always really slow for me. Also, Alexa seem to think that NG takes 8.1 seconds to load? And that 95% of sites are faster? NG has always had really fast load times for me.
Collabs
They're back... with a vengeance.
Actually, I now have a sudden urge to watch Die Hard :D

dispite the edited pic, there are still a shit laod of collab threads...
hopefully a few will vanish when they are relased and the thread becomes a corpse..

RE: Collabs
What is so bad about too many collabs? Very few of them will get far anyway.
But i've noticed that none of them are headed by particularly well known people though.
RE: Collabs
I don't get the whole thread deal. Back when 'collabs' were all the rage, the few that I participated in were all run through IM. Which seems like a much more natural and efficient way to do things than a 70 page thread that amounts to 4 minutes of animation.

what!?
Do you think I could get money for this?
It's nothing special really, but I don't think its been done before. I've made a secret organiser. It's basically just something where you can store information (like a text document) that is kept completely secret from everyone.
So basically it can be used as a diary, somewhere to store information like bank details and passwords or even an address book.
To use it, type in a password in the password section and whatever you like in the textbox and click save. You can then load it again at any time using the password. The data is stored in a SharedObject and so the only way of reading the information is by knowing the password and being on the computer it was written on.
Anyway, my question is, do you think this could be used for anything worth my while? I think a lot of people could use it (mostly girls probably), so maybe a girly site like myspace could buy it off me (I aim high). Perhaps even making my own site purely for that could be beneficial? Your thoughts please.

I was never co-authored in favour of popular artists like RubberNinja or Wonchop who would boost the votes/views simply by name alone. I also mostly got into them from other parts of the Flash/Art community like DeviantArt and SheezyArt, so besides being one of the places the final file was published, it had very little to do with Newgrounds. This account wasn't even around back then.
Regardless, the whole thread deal shifts the focus from "Lets get all these awesome people together." to "I want attention and I don't care who gets me there".
Or maybe it was always like that and the threads just consolodate that fact, either way they're a grossly innefficient way of going about it.

It's really neat. However, it's a common occurrence for these sorts of things, especially in Flash format, to be hacked real bad. Not to step on dreams, but it happens.
Hi there!
SOLs are easily readable. And you can't encrypt it as it's hardly possible to encrypt the SWF bytecode itself.

Hacked in what way? Sinse it used SharedObjects, none of the information people input is stored in the swf file, so people can't get hold of the information that way.

Ok, but the SharedObjects are still only on the local computer so unless someone knows how to read shared objects and has access to the perspns computer, their secrets are safe. It's not like anyone would bother to do all that to read a diary anyway.

I think originally the intent of a thread for it was to 1) get people aware but also have a 'hub' where everyone can sort of share where they are at in the collab project.. its hard to do that via aim because not everyone can really get together with it its more 1-1 contact.
I do agree that nowadays the function of collab threads has gone down its mostly people dissing each others collab idea or the collab itself is one that doesnt really require 'collaborative' thinking.. thats one thing about collabs that bugs me, people are stuck on the slice a song up into chunks and everyone do something.. theres alot more interesting things that could be done collaboratively beyond a sliced music vid. i think that people head into a collab for the wrong reasons and so there has been a lack of real creative thinking.

I agree. It's just irritating to look at over and over again.

I like his sig. He doesn't imply that he stutters. The sig reads "This is Spartaaaaaaaaa!", not "spart-sparta". The two parts "spart" and "spartaaaaaaaaa" represent the 2 syllables, not him saying it twice.
Also, the extra a's give it a certain shabaz IMO.
Keep up the good sig.

Then it should be "This is Spart-aaaaaa" what it is now is "This is Spart-Spartaaaa" making it look fucking dumb ass hell.

Nah, they do. If you take the whole "red sauce on pasta" thing - there are 5 syllables. So yeah, owned... pwned or whatever it is the cool kids say these days.
I actually haven't got a clue what this argument is about, but it comforts me to know that Mr. Cybex ISN'T actually an all-knowing machine of some sort :D
Collab Threads
Most are shut down, because its started by a user who doesn't have some flashy flash to show for, and then others are started by people who have no flash. So lots of flaming ensumes. I get angry with people who start collabs here and have no flash here yet by themselves, they say their great, so why don't they make just an animation to some music to show for work or to show they know flash?
Sigs
Haven't seen 300 yet... I saw blades of glory for some reason though, it was ok...
And a good sig, has a colour scheme, centered text, and some kind of design behind the text...
