It takes a while to eat, but once you get used to the design, its pretty delicious :D.

ok, lame metaphor
Hey guys, I g2g cya xxx
I can team up with animators to make movies, I'm not an animator myself, but I do create storylines/plots/anything to do with writing, and I'm looking for a good animator, for the story at the bottom of this page. It is a very extensive story, so it needs a patient person. Must be animated well. Send me a PM or an e-mail at my email if you don't post on the forum. The project Watcher in the Rain is very long story. The first 2 scenes could be made into 1 movie, the third into 2 movies, and there are 9 scenes total.
An idea I've been having
Well I had this idea while i was sleeping and i figured id atleast get it out there for the sake of being able to refer back to it if i need to. I'd like to make it a semi collaborative project so that is also why im presenting it here. Its all hazy still but the premise of the idea is solid and ive spent the morning pitching it around to my animator friends here and it seemed like it could work.
The concept:
Think of it as a newgrounds meets river city ransom type of game. Where you are kicking the asses of other humans in a quest for respect through brute force.
You will play yourself (maybe) and you will go through a slew of newgrounds personalities and minibosses and ultimately meeting an ng staff member at the end of the level.
We all know who the final boss would probably be but who knows.
The process:
So for all the non minibosses/bosses id like to populate it with frequent users of the site and sort of atlest minimally capture a smidge of their personality into the spriteset. To do this ill probably make a series of spritesets about 8 or 9 varietys lets say. very generic 'naked' spritesets and then flesh over them to make them unique. That way they will always keep the consistency and feel of the game and someone with some moderate flash skill can sort of customize it and get a slice of the pie in the game.
I dunno its still all kind of hazy but meh. Rip my idea apart and crush my dreams if you must.

Re: Luis' Idea
Sounds neat. Maybe levels could be like the BBS, NG HQ, Clocktopia(?).
So this is pretty much the reg collab? I hope I won't be excluded...
Re : An idea I've been having
I really like the idea. It could definitely work, you could do it amongst more known people, so unlike a standard collab, you list the parts (eg, Animator, Head Coder, Menu maker etc) and choose you think is best. Then once they've been chose, then get a say in the other participants, and so on.
Using NG in the game would be very original. You could have to answer questions to fight bosses, where the answer is somewhere on the site ( eg history section) and randomize them so it doesn't get repetitive.
Anyway, nice idea, if you can get it to work, it will be amazing :).
I'd love to make the menu, but there are probably other more experienced people to do that :P.

No im tentative to call it the reg collab because i will probably do something different for that. and its unlikely more than one actionscripter could work on something like this...its just my baby.

Re: Ideas
Well, its still a cool idea. I doubt I could do much.
Recently, I've heard or experienced at least three, Newgrounds-themed games that have either failed, or are just not finished yet.
RE: Luis's idea
it sounds like a fine idea to me. but as far as gameplay, how would it run? would it be a side scroller beat'm'up like Dad'm'Me? Do we shoot the other people? And i deafinantly think it should be based in the city in the background of the newgrounds header. Seems like a good place to start.
New Site
I'm considering getting a real, non-freewebs site soon. Just one thing though, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO!
I know nothing of website hosting, HTML, domain names, ect. So I was hoping someone with past website experience help and advise me on finding good hosting and possibly help in HTMLing. I can tell you basically what I want and the layout of the site.
I'm not asking you to do everything for me, just help me get through this.

well, writter teaming up with animators is not something new...and generally forwned apon really. alot of people see it as lazyness, because the animators spend hours apon hour animating, and the wirtter just sits and thinks....proving yourself as a good writer is hard sometimes, becausde therer are so many wannabe writters out there.
Writters???
what do you all think about writters. I already said what i thought above...but anyway.

I am working on an extensive project which involves me finding a good animator for it, and I want to have fun watching my work put into action. I write hardcore graphic shit. Just let me know if you want a preview.

Shirt Turtle's analysis
at the moment you seem like you need everything your way and/or are irritated easily.
Bingo.
Its actually that I come to the BBS as a fun place to be, and recently there have been 2-3 users (Not who I would consider old regs) that have just been on a war path, insulting newer users, throwing around their ego and what they think is intellegence, and bugging me on AIM whenever I'm trying to relax and answer some newer people's questions.
That's why I've stuck mainly to the Regs thread lately. I go somewhere to help some people and have to read insulting garbage. I, in turn... post angry garbage. It's a horrible cycle, really. (The irony thing didn't irritate me at all, if that's what you meant. I enjoyed that little debate)
Luis's idea
Well, I think the idea is cool. It seems like something that's going to be very difficult to impliment though. Any ideas on that part of it yet, or have your plans/ideas not gotten that indepth yet?
Patu1
lol, Rammer, don't be so hard. He is a reg in a lot of ways. He posts regularily, making him regular in that respect. And besides, it's not his fault he can't type, he's an Isreali and barely speaks English.
Luis' Idea
Sounds like a great concept, but it'll take some time to really see how it'll pan out. I'd personally love to be a part, but like Arthur, I'm unknown in the portal, so I'm pretty much out. Still, I'd love to stick around and see things progress, and if time allows, maybe I'll have some more known pieces out by the realse of the game anyway.
Castle III
I'll be the first to admit I generally hate stick movies. However, I've always been a fan of Oscar J.'s Castle series, so I clicked onto III right away. Big mistake I have to say. I pissed myself laughing at the absolutely terrible voice acting. It was just crap all around, and it made me very sad in my pants.
Writers
Well I'm a writer mostly by trade, Fiction and the like. Nothing big because who wants to invest in a 17 year old kid. But for me, fuck the view that "Oh the poor animator works so long and hard hour after hour while the writer sits back and watches." If you really believe that then you're just Goddamn ignorant. I spend just as long writing any piece as I would animating it, probably longer. Sure there are the wannabees that will indeed just laze about, but they're not real writers, they're dumb kids with their thumbs up their asses.
I've been writing scripts, short stories, and even a couple novels seriously since I turned 14, and it has got to be one of the most mentally (and sometimes physically when you ignore sleep) taxing things I do. It's insane just how much work goes into a good piece of literature.
So I stand behind the writers, the real writers, all the way. If you are a true wordsmith you'll make sure to put in as many hours as anybody else to ensure you lovechild grows up to be something the be proud of.
End Rant.
Respect
Well I have very few posts on this account, but I had a decent number on Rat_Mazta. I have small portal prescence because I rarely finish something (I'm a perfectionist, and if it won't come out the exact way I intend it to be after a repeated effort, then I refuse to release it).
I try to be a very sort of, hmm, well interesting person on the forums, and I feel that it's essential to actually EARN other members respect than to assume it should be there from the get go. People don't have a clue who in blue thunder you are when your first pop up, and you could be a total douche, so it's not fair to expect equality right away.
That said, I do try to treat anyone fairly right from the first post if they display basic intelligence and strong communication skills. Rough draft level spelling is a must, and some sort of validity as a talented person is always nice.
I give people a hard time, but I'm always just joking around usually, and I'll often check back to clear it up if someone is offended, and I always try to answer someone's question in one way or another if it's worth actually answering,
RE: Luis' Idea
Me like, me like. I can picture exactly what you're going for there. Like, I think we shared a brain for that brief moment.
not
Anyways, it's all about execution.

RE: Writters
Ignorance, in this case, can easily be thrown in both directions. Ive never wrote anything very good, so i dont know how hard or long it takes to write something good. You, on the other hand, have not animated anything amazing, so you dont know how long or hard it is to make a quality animation.
But as far as lazy writters go, i was really only counting the wannabes. there are people out there that can write circles around me and lots of others, and there storys deserve a chance to be animated. but like i said, its hard to get noticed with all the wannabes.
So in short, i am in no posotion to tell you how hard it is to write something, because i myself have not wrote anything. But i just find it hard to take a writter as seriously as an animator, and put the two on the same playing field as far as work, length, and strain.
RE: Luis' idea
Sounds like a crapload of work, months of work I mean. If you were to do it I would suggest several artists and scripters, you alone will be sick of doing it after you're into it. But sounds pretty cool. It'd be nicer than Dad N' Me since it's forum regs and not NG artist regs. If you're up to it, play it out and see how it goes, sounds like it could be fun.
Re: Luis' Idea
I like it... I've always been into river city ransom, and combining it with ng-related stuff is just genius. If you do work on it, I'll make some sprites (as long as you want me helping, that is).
I hope I'm not coming off on anybody here as some ignorant kid... that's sure what it feels like.
I've gone and become an SSBB addict... what to do, what to do...
RE: Masterswordman and a site
I'd stick with a freeweb sort of site (use www.bravenet.com its much better then use a co.nr redirect, google it for the site). For this reason its because why spend money on a site if you don't have something for the viewers? You don't have a flash that excels and makes people want to go to your site then they won't go. You need a gimmick like a series or something.
RE: Luis' collaberation for the newgrounds nation
I like the idea, so your saying its like a fighting game but you like go up the ranks and what not. Is it gonna have some rpg elements such as stat building or anything? Sounds fun though, I'm willing to help in any miniscule way!

Good to know. Didn't realize that. Was just reading that post and was thinking "I like this Impending Riot kid." I thought that Joystick kid was cool too... It all makes sense now.
River City Ransom
Anyone whos never heard of that game or seen it seriously missed out on an awesome game. Your chance to play it may come with the rise of the wii... if you have never played it play it and you cant be part of the game unless you play it because youll never understand what im trying to do. Theres a gameboy advance version too.
Anyway the game wouldnt be a flash reg thing exclusively, i definately want to include popular forum personalities both here and in the general forum.. atleast just borrow their identities i dont mean everyone put their hands on the project. Right now the only people truly immersing their hands into sprites of their very own are people who are either going to be bosses or minibosses and more less can work without any supervision. For everyone else, if you look at the screengrab of river city ransom below youll notice that the bad guys and even the main character are all built on the same frame.. the bad guys even are wearing the same color outfits.. each one has very subtle variations to them be it because they carry different weapons or have different expression/hairstyles. same type of deal. think Weemee's you can beat up. Oh yeah girls excluded from the project unless they are of miniboss status. im a sexist pig.
