RE: Tubeyou

if peopel find a mvoie ont he itnernet they'll uplaod it to youtube to become 'popular' or to share it with others, obviously alot fo people will uplaoded someone thats been done already.

takign credit for it is obviously lame, the amount of videos with ebaums stickers on them is just ironic though..

a few artists do upload their own stuff though, usually ignored though. youtube comubnity isin't realy good anyway, there are no makign firend on it, no real poitn in it. since google bought youtube its not gotten any better either.. its just a huge depository of internet mvoies.

and real movies and tv shows...

unless people start stelaing ng mvoies and uplaoding them somehwow we shouldn't really care abotu youtube and their junk. and if people start uplaoded ng mvoeis... eerm, complain i guess..

RE: Job at that Racing Frogs place...
So about eighty pages back I said something about me applying for a job at a Web Design studio and it being the first interview I've had since leaving Uni.

Just checked my email. Didn't get the job. Oh, and I've been refused to be forwarded for a texture artist position at Sony London by my agency too.

Forget what I said about making Flash or Games a career. I'm going to remove the creative side of my brain and sell whats left of my soul to Microsoft Office...

Achievements 2006
Graduated with a BSc 2:1 Computer Studies.
Increased my post count by a thousand or so.
Gained a level.

New Years Resolutions
Actually submit something
Actually get on the damn career ladder
Force people to meet up at The Web Comic and Mini Comic Thing 2007 and demand mass autographs from Weebl in the name of Newgrounds

The Series of Tubes
I must say it's actually starting to worry me that if I want to listen to a particular song, I'll type it's name into Youtube and search for a music video first.

I'm not sure how much of a community spirit that place actually has compared to something like our cosy little forum, or even something as wide reaching as MySpace. But I think strong communities help rip apart the people who try to rock the boat too much by doing things like submitting stuff they've stolen.

No opinions other than that on the thing really - it's just a place for me to search for some entertainment when I'm not coasting the Portal.

First line didn't end with a full stop.
There should be a space after the first period.
there should be no 'And' in line 3, unless you change the preceeding period into a comma.
The line ", and spa monkey, it was spam monkey..." should be "and 'spa monkey' should be 'spam monkey'...".
the '...' should just be '.' which would make the 'it's' 'It's.
Sometimes has an 'WE' in it.
It's MSN Messenger.

hey guys i've had several years of this shite so don't bother pointing it out, it's annoying.

RE: The Series of Tubes

I must say it's actually starting to worry me that if I want to listen to a particular song, I'll type it's name into Youtube and search for a music video first.

Same for me, with a few particular songs I actually always use the YouTube music video to listen to them. I'm not sure why, but the type of song I usually do that for is like a parody song or Weird Al or that kind of genre.

And advancing from that, what is the legality situation on YouTube? I'm sure at least 50% of the content there is not submitted by the copyright holder (music videos and the like). Is it just a "If the person who owns the rights complains then it gets taken down" type of thing?

Time for a cliche topic...

Goals for NG 2007

What are your goals for next year here on NG? I'm aming for some new awards, as in Weekly, and review crew. I managed to accomplish my NG goal this year, which was to get a daily feature. My other goal for 2007, is to maybe affiliate with NG after I master spice my site and get out more games. And finally, manage to get over a total of 75 submissions. I've 49 right now ><

It's going to be a long ass year, but if I can increase in skill some more, like I feel I've been doing, and happily so, then I can hopefully accomplish these new goals!

RE: 2007 Goals

Haha, I don't think this topic is all that cliche but anyways-

What I'm really shooting for is to kind of speed up my process when making a movie, I always seem to let it drag on for way too long. But, I'm planning on starting off the year with a movie I've been working on since August (hence the need for speeding up) and I really don't care if it gets any awards I just want to get it off my plate and move onto something else. Basically just get some movies finished up and submitted so I can finally have a nice little collection that I can hopefully bring over to a website that's in the works.

Um, 2006 has been good so far, but 2007 looks a little more promising and hopefully I can be a little more involved in the community in terms of working on the Time Trials that might come packaged with the Art Forum contests. I've also wanted to try collabing with other artists since I've always seen these great collabs getting turned out and I guess I just want to be part of that whole thing.

always behind schedule.

ShortMonkey is right. your grammar is insanely annoying. i know you're sort of a reg and all, but i can't help thinking "great, a noob got into this thread" whenever i see you post.

Much as I hate to change the topic from something worth discussing (legality of Youtube), or something that allows us to learn more about the regs of this lounge (the achievements and new years resolutions) or me related (me not getting a job)...

Take your damn time Sonx, or at least improve your accuracy. The chat room's for quick thinking. The thread will be here when you finish typing and your point will not be any less worthy of merit even if someone beats you to a similar opinion or answer.

You're better than that

Re: Sonx' Typing Errors

Personally, I don't find it a big deal, but if you're looking to improve, practice ;)
I'm a fast typer except I too make a LOT of errors, so my key is always ready to hit backspsace.
Just practice accuracy, spelling, punctuation, and what not. It also really helps if you look at the screen as you type rather than look at the keyboard, so you can see you're mistakes. I have nothing against you or your typing, and I'm not really annoyed, but you can help yourself by practicing as well, and others will be happy =p

Typing a go go

Today my typings been a bit worse than usual and here's why:
IE7 not being able to load newgrounds and some other websties correctly < for this pc anywayz>
PC being very slow < took 2 hours to save a fla just now, caused major errors in everything>
me being pissed off at pc < for above reasons>

Sorry about that folks :P

why does this post page randomly all go gray for a second after loading? or that just me?
to blaze, i 5'd ;)

other strange error, a few time making a new line via Enter, it won't do anything.

incentive to add 'check spelling' button :P?

Youtube legal?
only time i've seen youtube get in trouble was when people uploaded their happyslapping clips and some random crap like that. but as far as i know, if something is uplaoded that shouldn't be there, a few complaints will have said materiel removed and the user banned.

not like those people are making money off their stolen stuff anyway... are they?

long post is looooong

why are you using internet explorer? shame on you! get Firefox 2.0!

Firefox 2.0 DOES have a spell-checker. it underlines things in red that it thinks you misspelled.

Firefox doesn't work aswell as IE7 over here ;)

wait this has been done to death...

NG Banner Ads

the banner ads seem to be getting worse each week. hopefully when the big update happens they will be downgraded to just simple non-animated images. the amont of seisure inducing, noisy ass, stupid, 'free console giveaway' crap is just rediculous.

prehaps we could have banner ads that advertise sites that users on NG own :O
that'd be much better than " Your vister 1000000!!!!"

RE: The Sandlot 3

but don't you just LOVE the movies where going back in time and changing your past makes everything come out the way you wanted? it's the value that kids these days NEED to learn!

...oh, wait. another one of those "friendship" movies where choosing to be friends with people will ultimately make you successful in life. i hate these movies, almost as much as the "i have a horse, i will win, I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR!" kind of movies. someone needs to invent that device that lets people stab eachother in the face over the internet.

most pay per click, so they must be working. i mean, i've never heard of it happening but surely it has to.

Flash Quality Going Down?

It has come to my attention that, in the past 5 months, the quantity of entries to the flash portal has been rising like hell, but the quality of 80% of that movies that get protected is not what it used to be.

Right now, there are some days when there are more movies protected than blammed, and i mean a lot more.

I have seen submitions from before 2005 and most of them even with "low" scores are pretty decent, some of them with 2.00-2.50 are even better than some of 3.00 of now.

They are few... but i think that Newbie Animators (like me) are uploading a lot of crappy movies, instead of uploading, fewer, ground breaking .

Luckily there are some good animators, most of them regulars of the BBS, that still make a lot of good movies. If it was possible i would do a portal cleanup, closing the uploads for 1 month and putting all the movies with less than 3.00 under judgemente again, i may sound a little extreme but it would clean the portal of crappy entries.

Thanks for the five sonx. ^_^

RE: Flash quality going down

I agree... It's terrible. Plus nowadays it takes ages to get through judgement, back in '05, you could wait half an hour and get through.

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2006-12-11 19:31:21

flash quality down?

two words:
Kitty Krew!

ok, and the rest of the groups

people see these poorly done crap on the portal and see that maybe their crap will get on the portal aswell. i know it is stupid but possibly true.. also take into account the lowering intellignce of the new generation of kids.

and i haven't submitted in ages :P

Flash Quality Going Down?

Mostly the sheer amount of new Flash Developers is causing quite a lot of spamful and low quality Flash to go through.

I also am starting to see quite a narrowing margin between normal, green and blue scoring submissions. Seems like green is almost dropping off the map.

This header is pointless for a quoted message

I think it has to do with NG getting more popular, but not raising the standards as the qualtity increases. That and the new 10 MB filesize limit.

Tom should raise the blamming limit to like 2.0 or something, maby even 2.2. That should weed people out for a while. And offer people DOUBLE PROTECTION POINTS for protecting a movie (to encourage stat whores to vote more often to get stuff through judgment)

but whateverblarghhphdsuhhhTired

RE: Flash quality going down

On the plus side, if you're a decent animator(or AS'er) you can get daily awards easier now. I hardly ever see a daily feature over 4.0.

Also, I think its just slow because everyone's working on their Christmas submissions for the massive Armor Games and the Newgrounds contests. They both are offering prizes for $1000.

Tis' the season to be greedy.

Most Proud

What do you guys think is the best thing you've done in Flash? Doesn't have to be on NG, just something you've done. Mines definately Climate Chaos, I poured my soul into that game.

Be nice

We used to do this around this time of year back in school: Pick one person and compliment them on something - anything, as long as its genuine :)

ShirtTurtle, you're easily my favourite reg, you seem so happy all the time. And your sig definately helps ^_^
