RE: Meetups

In all reality, exposing yourself too much online is a problem, but I don't see Newgrounds as a prime pedophile district. All that kind of stuff happens on lameo sites like mySpace.

Yeah! Seriously DarkMana, I bet you didn't even stop to think about those poor orphans with their T1 connection before you went and killed yourself. You really are an emo, only thinking about yourself up to the moment you took your own life. Suicide is so selfish.

Oh hey! you live in virginia, you could probably bike to my house! I'm in fairfax, where are you?...if you don't want to say you could pm or something...But yeah I don't know if you'd want to bike to my house, we probably wouldn't have anything to talk about and it'd be akward and a really tiring bike ride, but at least you could!

Forum Cliqueness ..sp?

Yeah so the forum awards thread has got me feeling like the flash forum is highschool. I'm not really in with any crowds in highschool, and now it's like im not in with the flash forum crowd, which is pretty sad since it's the internets. I'm not trying to get voted for anything, I'm not sure I even apply to any of the categories, and im definately not looking for the pity card, or the emo vote, just wondering if there are other flash regs that feel the same way.

cause i long for acceptance and companionship, what of it!

Of course we'll finish, a little death never hurt anyone.

i actually laughed out loud at that. besides scaring the shit out of my mom today, that was the funniest thing that i've heard, seen, secksed, or ate.

location

Coaly,
I live in springfield and i dont have a bike lol. I'm hoping mommy gets me one this year for xmas.

end of year thoughts

Coaly's thoughts brought this thought, what have you accomplished this year? Its cool to look back and see what you've managed to accomplish this year.. even if it is was something small. It doesnt even have to be flash related per say.

This year:
- I visited 11 states in the US, also went to puerto rico.

-met: Tom F, Wade, the mods, CheshirePus, Krinkles

-redesigned my site

-put together the sketchbook tour

-graduated from middle school.

ignore that last one i just wanted to fit in amongst you guys :(

RE: '06 Reflection

-I got into the flash scene by working on games like Four Second Frenzy and Four Second Firestorm. In fact I owe a lot to jmtb02 for this. These two games served as a good spring board for my entrance.

-I created the new 'in-the-middle-of-nowhere' sport of shrub jumping.

-I drop kicked a trash can in California's Disneyland

-I stayed in Los Angeles for four days and didn't die of LARS (Los Angeles Respiratory Syndrome--note I made this up, but still, the air is bad. Oregon is much cleaner.)

-Other stuff that isn't coming to me right now.

---------

Stuff I wish I did and will hopefully do this upcoming year.

-Get eagle scout. Yeah, I'm a Boy Scout of America, nothing wrong with that.

-Build a website to call my eHome

-Go backpacking. Last year I went on a 90 mile backpacking trip through Oregon back country and it was spectacular. This year it didn't happen and I was sad. I'm hoping for the best next summer.

-Get myself road legality and a car to complete the package.

-And some other stuffz

---------

All in all I would consider it a good year, it could've been better, but if I expect perfection, my dreams will be squashed every time.

End of year thoughts

-Well a big thing this year is I got out of band, which I can't really go into detail about because there is a lot to be said, but basically it was horrible.

-I played soccer in the spring and fall, which is big cause i haven't played sports since maybe 7th grade except for track freshman year...i was the slowest person, so that didn't work out.

-I got a job as a lifeguard, which isn't so hard but, it's a job, money, and it's pretty easy, no one has tried to die yet.

-I feel like I've really changed who I am, or at least am changing. I've pretty much hated myself for a while, not emo like, but i just wished i was a better person, and i feel like i am getting much better.

-I work out a lot more often, since i lifeguard at the ymca it's easy to workout after work. And its good for you because it releases endorphins which make you happy. If you're sad, just go to the gym or run and you'll feel much better.

So yeah, not so much, but still stuff. One thing I'd like to change is getting some decent sleep, I don't know what it is, probably habit but I just sit in front of the tv, or computer till it's like 11 or 12 before i go to sleep.

man, that was a serious post... :P bleh

Meet ups
If I had the money to then I would go to Comic-Con and head straight to the Newgrounds booth, maybe after I check to see if their is a booth with Jhonen Vasquez at it, but I wouldn't mind meeting most of the regs here and Tom Fulp.

Accomplishments

-Moved from America to Australia
-School system realised that I was supposed to be in 9th grade
-Poked a fat kid(you gotta try this, it's so much fun, but use a stick)
-Got signifigantly better at animating with my tablet
-Accidently broke my tablet

@ Luis: Love the new site design, much better then the old one and I'm kinda glad there is no comment system now.

You should try having a first name of Kester! I don't really ever hold back giving people information about yself and one day it may come and bite me in the ass but up to now it's been fine.
I'm actually good friends with JPI now but it was easier to meet him seeing as we're in the same city most of the year instead of living miles away like most of the NG community.

Achievements
Literally cant think of anything...er I passed my first year of uni....

- Learnt php, javascript, mysql, html, c++.

- I made a completely awesome game for AG's halloween contest
- Managed to make 5 games+movies, hoping to be able to finish the sixth.

- Visisted Texas, once again...

I guess that's all, i can't think of anything else.

Re: Achievements / Accomplishments

Nothing really comes to mind, after months and months of trying to get my flash disk back from someone I finally just bought a new one. I got a new computer. I started college. I nearly saved up $10,000 in my back account from my summer job. I got a credit card. Nothing else really comes to mind. I mean, I've managed to get drunk more times than any other year by leaps and bounds. I've also hit on my girls, strangers and girls I knew before hand alike, yet thats hardly an accomplishment. Oh yea, I've bought more CDs than...well ever. Generally speaking I listen to more music than I have in my life. Oh, I walked into a liquor store and they sold me some shit, that was nice.

Nothing real exciting but whatever.

RE: Accomplishments
This was the year of all years for me.

*I managed to get a road bike so I can travel around the city faster and cheaper.
*Became a mod, and got to finally ban the annoying ones.
*Got to know a lot of the BBS members better, such as Luis, Neg, Johnny, list goes on...
*Started Flashwiki.net, which is up and running
*Relaunched my own website which actually earns money now, so I don't feel poor anymore.
*Get signed on for Senior Game Developer at Armor Games, and will be moving to Irvine, CA to work at the Armor Games offices next year
*Managed to score 15 portal awards somehow
*Won 4 monthly awards
*Actually managed to launch Four Second Frenzy and Four Second Firestorm

It was a good year. I doubt any year will be as great as this one. And there's still about 20 days left, so its time to pump out some games :).

RE: Accomplishments

- The Tutorial Collab '06 getting no 6 of all time, one of the best moments ever. Knowing
something i created has helped all those people enough to get them to vote it to the top 6 out of
over 90,000 flashes. A great feeling, along with the sponsorship monies :P $_$

- Helping out MedMapGuy with Robotech: The sentinels. He is a great guy and an awesome artist,
he may be the best at flash, but helping him to get that Daily 2nd was great.

- Participating in FSFrenzy. A great game that I'm honoured to be a part of.

- Getting better At AS. Not an enormous achievement, but one that will help me for a long time.

Not many, but they all mean allot.

Plus, thanks For the vote John, means allot :).

Final Thoughts of 2006

I've done a lot this year. I passes by driving test, I worked for a record company, and started UNi, where I learned more and, more importantly drank more that I have in a long time. I really feel I've grown as a person this year.

The water in Majorca don't taste like what it oughta.

RE: Accomplishments

It's been quite a good year for me flash wise. I hadn't done it for a year or so but I've really got back into it and worked on a lot of frame by frame things which I thought I wasn't able to do at first.

Also I'm really happy because I've developed a new style of cartoons (in sig) and it's coming along really well.

Lastly I used tweening for the first time ever. It's fun but sometimes can get messy. I need to master it before I move on to anything else :)

What a good looking mirror.

RE: Accomplishments

I made one game that I'm really happy with (the Bin Laden one) even if it didn't get any awards or anything; it worked pretty much how I wanted it to. I'm going to release a Christmas RPG which looks quite good right now (is the AG constest still running? Not heard much from it...).

I also released an animation which I quite liked. So it's been an alright year. It's been best in the fact that I actually made a decent game, and also in that my AS skills are really developing quite fast.

Next year will own so much :)

Anyway, we probably don't need any more subjects, but whatever:

YouTube

Stealing content's still a pretty big issue; I was wondering what your guys opinions on YouTube are? They're obviously removing stuff directly infringing copyright, but you can pretty easilly find the exact same video under a load of different user names, and they're getting a hell of a lot more publicity that Flash sites. The original authors of a lot of stuff are pretty hard to identify.

Obviously a lot of responsibility is with the users, but I don't know how far YouTube go to ensure that the authors of stuff submitted originally on other web pages are properly credited.
