I would say okay. I am not an uber coder, but I know enough to do what I want to do.

Who are the other four? :)
RE: How good are you?
My art is pretty decent but my animation is just...blech...
If my animations were par with my art, I'd probably get a daily 5th.
As for AS, pretty bad. The only sidescroller engine I've used is the excessively overused one from Ultimate Tutorial 2. But I managed to edit it, with some forum help, so the character could have a single walking frame of animation that switched quickly between that and the walking frame, and a jump frame that only lasted a split second. I also managed to combine another script I found with the ground AS so that it would actually scroll. Unfortunatly(Actually fortunatly, considering how crappy the engine was) I never released a game.
Ok...enough of that story.

RE: Kirk's picture
Well actually two, I think.
And they were just some random forumers.
RE: How good are you?
Well for me, I'd saw 1/10 for drawing/animation. I only get that one point due to the fact that I can get around with the limited artistic ability I have.
For scripting I tend to think that I'm at a fairly high level. Not perfect, as there are still quite a few things I havent explored yet (online multiplayer, etc (soon though ;)). But most of the time, there is almost never is a style of game I can't figure out how to make or a scripting challenge I can't handle. So... 9/10 (from a game developer's standpoint, for a web designer that might be lower... but I'm a game designer. Can't be good in everything)

How good are you
I hate it when people sort of class themselves or whatever they're doing. Like calling your pictures 'Art'. I don't like to do that. It's like, what you talking about, it's not 'art', i'm no French Duke, this is just a little picture or whatever. There's this quote of Pete Doherty that works it out well, he said soemthing like
"People were coming up to me going 'Pete Pete what are you going to do?', and I was just like 'I dunno.. have an ice cream?". That sums it up for me.
Also on rating yourself, I dont like to rate myself because that's classing myself as something. I'd say Adam Phillip's is an 8 (Although could pick alot of other top animators, just for star value). I don't think I cn rate myself because i'm not trying to do 'professional' stuff, i'm just trying stuff out, well I don't know what i'm doing.
Edit:
Here you can find the quote I said about. It was an interview between Pete Doherty and Jonathon Ross.
- Part 1
- Part 2
- Song from interview
The reason I like this interview so much is because the evening I got back after doing slightly heavier drugs for the first time, this was on telly and it was just like "Wow.".

any nudie pix?
there are a few from my final year ball, alcohol is fun :)
Rate-yourself-a-thon
I think rating ones abilities is dumb. I hope I am never anything close to a 10. i wouldnt want to ever get to a point where i feel like i am nearing a 10 or near the end of the line...
who the fuck wants to do something they have already 'conquered'.
I'd like to think animation is something that can never be mastered... actionscripting is probably different. Who knows. I dont mess with it.

Games that would be awesome on the wii
What flash games do you think could be awesome if made for the wii (as in completely remade for it, perhaps in 3D even)

games that would be good on teh wii
I think a game like Alien hominid would be good, I can't picture it exactly because the Wii only came out about.. a day ago over here, and I doubt i'll play one for about a year. But what I have in mind is you point and aim for where he goes to, point down to duck(or B) and A to shoot. Another odd-button for jump too.
I can see it working quite well as, although you have to be quite accurate with ducking and diving in Alien Hominid, you could do that with the A+B, and just pointing left/right would be simple.
My New Game
Hey guys, its 2am and I'm not even feeling tired yet! I'm working hard on my game, should be done by tomorrow. Here's a screenshot, taken from the first of the three bosses :)

New posting style
It seems kinda pointless to have a header after a quoted message, dont you think luis?
RE: Watchya Working on?
To answer some of the Pixel Puncher questions... I'm planning to release the first level and then HOPE to make updates to the existing submission as I finish other levels. There's a part of me that wants to release it as a complete package, but then I think of stuff like Pico 2 and the site redesign... And decide to stick to something more realistic. I have too many unfinished games on my computer, going all the way back to a Beep Me Jesus side scroller.
As far as inspirations... I suppose Treasure is a big one, since games like Gunstar Heroes set a bar that I always aspire to. I also feel a lot of pressure to keep making better stuff, considering no one can play stuff like Pico today and appreciate how cool it was in 1999.
MindChamber and I actually started Pixel Puncher two years ago. I basically dusted off MC's original artwork, rewrote the core engine and built a big chunk of the first level, using placeholder art for a bunch of stuff until MC finished up with his redesign obligations and joins back in. Right now MC is working on Pico animations for when users vote on submissions - we're revisiting something we did a few years ago, where users get a visual treat after voting on submissions. Only it's a lot cooler now.
RE: New Posting Style
Yer, its a bit annoying, but nothing horrible, it can do for now... And its easier than quoting, sio then you dont have to find the thing to quote.
Re: My new game
Here's another shot, this time from the 3rd level :) Its actually coming along quicker than I thought. Oh, and it looks much better when moving, the 3D isnt groundbreaking but its pretty shiny!

I wasnt really talking about the future of animation.. i was just saying can one really ever perfect even ones own style? For those that visit my site at all i asked Adam that question in my interview with him, you'll have to wait until i release that interview tho.
Anyway my point is that its dumb to rate yourself, its best just knowing each year at it is a year you've learned more.

Flash Dreams
What are your Flash-related dreams? Like, fame, money, power? And if you have that stuff, maybe you want something else? I don't care if its to learn every AS code or get a perpetual 5.0 score off your movie/game.
Mine are probably to become an NG Admin, make a successful site with unique features that make it widely popular, and make astounding movies only possibly concieved from the very depths of one's imagination...
But I have a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong ways to go.
RE: Flash dreams
my flash dreams are to become an NG mod (i know, i'm such a nerd for wanting to be a mod), create a somewhat popular site that's all about community, and release something that nails front page and gets great response.

RE: Flash Goals
a NG admin or a NG mod? Takes alot to be an admin, damn near impossible without some sort of blood relation or live in Toms basement....but mod would be a reasonable goal. Not trying to cruch your goals...but...CRUNCH!
my boal is to be "known" on newgrounds, and to somehow use the skills i learned here in the work field. Turns out they use flash for menus and such on console games and stuff....which suprised me.

RE: Flash Goals
You're right. Its near impossible to be an Admin now, at least 10 years after its development. Or maybe if for some reason, I randomly move to Pennsylvania right next to the NG office and become close friends with Tom or some other admin. But the chances of that are...CRUNCH!
I think i'll settle for mod/affilate.
RE: His Goal
Your goal to become known of newgrounds, well I know you, and alot of people, you got that goal in the bag.
Re: Kirk Thinking He Looks American
I happen to be American, and my hair happens to range from chin-length to beyond shoulder length. The two are not related in anyway. In fact, I started not cutting my hair regularly about three and half years ago. And since then I've heard dozen and dozens of people tell me to cut my hair. Long hair is not something thats mainstream in America, regardless of what impression you might get from where-ever you get impressions.
Re: Why Is Tom Still Posting Here
Tom wants to be a "flash reg".
Anyway for reference, I'll show you a recent photo my friend took of my when we were getting drunk, American style. Now take note, I'd say about 1/500 Americans have long hair. And hardly any look as good as I do. (Quality of image may make hair appear less amazing.)

Inglor taught me something very important. That's that affiliate is way better than mod :P
While mods appear to have power that may attract you, there are plenty of noobs with no life and plenty of time that when you ban them, they will then vote 0 on all of your movies every single day.
Plus, affiliates can make news posts :P
Also, the burden of dealing with noobs every day and having to silence idiots that can't even take the time to read the forum rules before posting would be an extreme strain.
Modding
but we wouldn't be the only mods. there's a lot of mods here that can take care of things when you are overwhelmed. and it's not like it's a full-time job; you come here whenever you want, ban some noobs, lock some topics, then leave. sounds like fun! :D
It is a fulltime job specially since Neg is like never here and when he is he doesnt even do anything. Dont tell him i said that.
Anyway one bad thing about modding is it changes your role on the site, you sort have to control yourself and be diplomatic and not immature about things.. actually never mind being a mod is good. i lied.
I just banned all of you guys so theres no more replies tonite.
