Didn't we already establish that lower levels are better?

I have to disagree here. The large number of crappy little minigames in Flash isn't a fault with the medium itself. It's just the well known fact that quick and uninspired games are more profitanble than long, imaginative ones.
Since Flash hits such a big audience so quickly, it's a natural target for people who want to make money out of their programming. It's not like other programs are more suited towards serious, imaginative games - it's just that their relative obscurity acts as a filter for people who just want to make a quick buck. Inspired Flash games exist in the same quantity as anywhere else - they just tend to get lost in the sea of greyness.
Big Monitors
I prefer having 2 medium monitors rather than one big one. If i ever do flash i'll have my code on the left, photoshop on the right, makes things a lot more streamlined.

It's nice to see that there's someone who cares about it though :p oh yea and my post got cut off in the middle. i just don't feel like game development is for me, whather it's in flash or not. i dont want to make it sound like an emo / attention whore post, it's just something that's been on my mind lately. Of course it doesn't mean I'm leaving the bbs. :)
Yeah the development part of flash games is generally lost, it tends to go from idea to game without any interval or rethinking. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, but if you go down that route you will not get anything bigger than a quick minigame.
Good to hear your sticking around though :).
Weird PM
I just had a very strange PM, i get a lot of "HELP" pms cause of the tutorial collab, but this one was a little broad.

My reply :No you'll need a psychiatrist for that.
See, im the total opposite. The more I do it, the more I love making games, and I think Flash is the perfect medium to make great games quickly and get them played by a huge audience.
I disagree that you cant make great games with Flash. As Paranoia said, the large majority of flash games are simple because that is the formula that does well, and a lot of developers are young and these kinds of games are easier to make.
That doesnt mean you cant make awesome games, and there are plenty of games out there that have been truly amazing. We just need to push the platform, hopefully the introduction of MT's will allow us to spend longer making these awesome games.
i'm gonna stick with animations for the most part thank you very much.
guess whos alt i am.

Yeaaa, i just peaked over tom's shoulder at pixel puncher. Theres this one part where its insaneee.
I kinda agree with Jimp in that I think its dangerous to make broad assumptions and write off the whole scene just because youve never ran into something inspiring.
I'm sad to see your post toast. But yea everyones different and maybe programming flash isnt your thing after all is said and done. I think at the end of the day i realized that i didnt want to be an animator or even make flash games for a living. But i do really enjoy making em. You dont have marry yourself to the medium. Maybe theres other things that may suit you better but its always nice to leave the door open rather than just come to an extremist conclusion and totally abandon it.
None

Never heard of it but google'd and saw it's PsychoGoldfish, Mindchamber and TomFulp. What could go wrong?
As someone who didn't use Flash for 1-2 years at all, I must say that Flash is fantastic for quick projects.. which really does not need to be said, it's obvious, but in Flash you can quickly throw together a platform engine in 20 minutes.. that can't really be done with any other language/platform.. I mean, I know there are quite a few languages specifically for making games but none are very good.
Sup, bitches :)
My level is the best, because it's a bottle, and nothing goes better than alcohol than smoking, which is what cool kids do.
Old bandwagon
New sig.
Quick tip: if you want something done, do not install a playstation emulator. I was playing it till 3 am yesterday until I realised that I hadn't eaten.
Flash being crap
In my eyes, people don't take flash games very seriously (I certainly don't). When I find a game, if it has any form of music that isn't instantly mute-able (including intro sounds), a boring menu, a forced tutorial or a long intro I just close it, because it isn't worth it as I know it's almost definitely going to be something that's been done before. So unless it looks really new, really nice or just plain awesome I just bypass it. But for some reason anything that I have to install I give a lot more of a chance, because I have higher expectations of it, and probably I'd like it more even if it was the same game. If I had a .exe version of Thing-Thing or Interactive Buddy I'd probably play it a lot more frequently. I don't know why but I just have a lower opinions of flash games because they're flash games, because the shear amount of shit ones.
Sorry about that rant, it didn't really have a point.

Mwhahaha! It was me!!!
Guys i'm starting to panic like zyphonee was, my Po3 programmer AND musician seemed to have bailed on me, i'm still motoring graphics and i dont even know if either of them are involved anymore.
Even if this game doesn't get finished by september, i'm going to make sure it does get done, which means i'll just have to find coder after coder, musician after musician until the game is done.
. . . oh dear god this is upsetting :(

Anyone else having issues with signing in to FlashGameLicense? It's saying to me and few others that our accounts never existed D:
Seems like they fixed FGL just now, and all data is intact as far as I can see :)
A lot of companies do maintenance around Sunday morning, probably was down for server fixes.
I tried looking up Peets coffee around 4:45 am once to get morning coffee and their website was closed from 2 am to 6 am. The idea that a website is "closed" somehow boggles my mind.
Hi there!
Enough is enough. GoDaddy just automatically charged me $431.71 for hosting renewal for glaielgames (it's been 5 years already I guess). The confirmation email had no info as to which credit card was charged, not even the typical **** **** *** ### you usually get on those types of confirmations.
I have 4 cards on my account. 5 years is a long time and I couldn't delete inactive ones if I remember. I have 2 debit cards I use myself (2 different banks). One has money, one might not have enough money to cover it. I want to know which one they charged.
So i click "log in" on their absolutely horrible website. Instead of logging in, it locks my account. All good and such, that's definitely what I wanted to happen after hitting log in once. So as protocol, I get the email saying my account was locked too. And godaddy won't let me unlock my account through email. I HAVE to call their customer service line and stay on hold for 2 hours.
I haven't done this yet. This is not the first time this has happened. In the past unlocking my account usually required me to give them the last 4 digits of the card on my account.
The whole reason i wanted in to my account was to find out which card was used.
I use godaddy cause it's freaking cheap hosting and a lot of value for it. But damn I'm getting completely fed up with their bullshit website and customer support and tendency to lock my account EVERY SINGLE TIME i try to log in.
lmao I am yet to see a customer service worst than Dell's, they'll literally have you there for 7 hours if you're too stupid for hanging up
